The Waleses haven’t slighted anyone, though, in the public arena.

As far as we know there hasn’t been any public bickering- maybe private bickering before Megxit - but the best way to prevent any is for the two couples to stay far apart. I’d be fearful that any close encounter would only provide more material for the HAM’s grievance list.

Exactly. When did William or Catherine last give an interview or write a book or go on a chat show slagging off Harry and Meghan?
It's a one way street.

upinaballoon · 24/08/2026 13:51

'Perpetual bickering' has seemed to be something which has remained on the front pages of a few magazines which I see in the supermarket, until last week. I don't know what the articles said but I suppose their faces on the front covers are good for sales. I doubt if there's been perpetual bickering.
I haven't looked at the magazine covers this last week. Goodness knows what they'll have on them.
Real news, not speculation - England won a test match.
I wonder if they'll really arrive.

No, I've no idea where the notion of "perpetual bickering" came from? It's only H&M who are complaining.

Depends on their ages then when such events happen - surely.

If the kids are still very young when the King dies they may not be there at all - if teens more likely and they will all be managed as Harry and Meghgan were at Queens funeral.

Prince Charles was at his mother's cornation aged 4 but he was the next in line and concessions were made for his young age. They won't be doing that on a state occasion for young children not in direct line- teens it would I think be a grey area and William could just have working RF there and his kids and next in line and driect heris - would also avoid Prince Andrew being there if he was still around.

Honestly though there's a whole load of people who job it is to think about these things and manage them. It's also not a given they'll still be in the UK when such events happen and if they go elsewhere distance may be used again to explain any absences.

Yes, their ages are indeed relevant "surely" relevant. As is, if we're going to be pedantic, the children's relevant emotional ability to be comfortable at a certain age regardless of their age.

I wrote a short-ish comment on the general situation, I didn't see any need to get into disclaimers or ages as I assumed everyone would implicitly know that yes, surely, the specific context would be relevant Smile

I must admit I think the TM situation puzzles me. I know he had that ill advised thing with the staged photos and I a see why M wouldn't like that. However , I believe HLMTQ suggested that they send someone over to help him , because let's face it , many people being thrown into that situation might be able to do with a bit of help to navigate it. H&M didn't really seem to try. Now, I don't know what else is / has been going on , but on the face of it they didn't really treat him terribly well & it is astonishing to me H has never met him. Given by all accounts he did pay for her private school / university etc and looked after her for at least part of her upbringing , it does rather lay them open to the view they are bothering about H's father because of the money / status / titles and not with TM. But I don't know the ins and outs of the Markle family , obviously.

Exactly all the posters saying Harry is coming back because KC is sick but poor Thomas Markle is also very sick & has never met his grandchildren...it is disgusting. Why is King Charles more a priority than Thomas Markle?

HoldMyWine · 24/08/2026 14:22

You need two parties to bicker. Only one side are jumping their gums and that’s HAM.

I don't think any of us need to be Einstein to work that one out! 😄

I don't think W gives a care for "public tolerance" and appearances of politeness when one of the questions he has to address is, how do I ensure that I and my children (one of whom may be HoS one day, so quite the responsibility) can never be acused of being racist.

I think the only way to be sure you can't be accused of offending Meghan and Harry is to never be in their company and never speak to them.

PlumCat23 · 24/08/2026 14:51

CoffeeCantata · 24/08/2026 10:35

Oh no, fellow pps, I just cannot bear the thought of the Sussexes doing the Sandringham Church Walk, or any other royal events.

Surely this will not be allowed to happen. I can't think why they'd be invited to spend Christmas at Sandringham.

I would guess they'll hope to get an invite to Althorp.

I really hope KC doesn't allow them back into contact with W and C. If he is a sentimental old dad, and a poorly one, OK - meet them briefly for tea at Christmas with just Camilla (and a lawyer??) to be witnesses. Hand over the Christmas pressies for the children then.

I can't see any playdates with the Wales children. I feel so strongly that HAM are toxic, malevolent and bitter people that I see only trouble ahead if that happened.

And Meghan was notoriously nasty to Charlotte over the bridesmaid dress incident. She only had George and Charlotte as attendants when the late Queen insisted on it.

The Wales's don't need the Sussexes - I hope they realise that.

Kate will be getting unofficial advice from Carole & Pippa & I firmly believe both those women don't suffer fools gladly. Michael & Carole had also been thrust into the public domain but have played an absolute blinder. Kate is so lucky to have the Middletons especially for times like this.
Did Pippa not get a full invite to the Ham wedding?

This is a strategy I intend to follow. I'm even prepared to boycott the Windsor Farm Shop if that iscwhat itbtakes.

She was definitely there (pregnant) for the ceremony. But apparently not invited to the evening reception (only 200 invitees compared to some 600 ceremony guests)

Because Charles is a King, has influence not to mention gazillions. Thomas is poor with no influence. Follow the money.

What a dreadful outfit - it would look aging on Camilla.

CoffeeCantata · 24/08/2026 16:57

@PlumCat23
Yes - the Middies have been absolutely brilliant over many years. They've kept a low profile, not embarrassed anyone and they must have been a life-line for William at times, as well as Catherine.

Their (OK, very affluent) middle-class lifestyle and their more modest home(s) will have provided the Wales children with a much more normal and mainstream childhood than that of William, Harry, Charles and Diana.

I've read of some sad incidents, reported by Tom Bower who, while some people don't like him, is a savvy lawyer and doesn't risk being sued by including wild stories in his books. Apparentlyl, before the HAM wedding, the MIddletons made at least one (maybe more) overtures to Meghan to come and stay with them, and even invited Doria to stay on the eve of the wedding, but all invitations were turned down.

Now there might have been perfectly good reasons - we don't know - but I suspect Meghan wanted to keep her mother well away from them in the same way she wanted her isolated during the ceremony. She likes to be in control of what other people might talk about!

HelenaWilson · 24/08/2026 17:04

....even invited Doria to stay on the eve of the wedding, but all invitations were turned down.

Yes, I read that various people offered Doria hospitality, and were all refused, except tea with Charles and Camilla, I think. Same reason Thomas wasn't wanted at the wedding, I think - that they would innocently blow the gaff on some of the ways M had misrepresented her past.

Simple Charles has £££ and can be a source of income.

He must know if he wants back as a working royal he needs go slowly with Charles because if he go's and William takes over he has no chance.

Thinking of the wedding, I always thought the way Charles took Dorias hand was so gentlemanly if that's a word.

viques · 24/08/2026 17:26

Well apparently it doesn’t matter that HAM won’t have the Wales’ support, because according to their favourite tabloid they are well on the way to being very best mates with a former spice girl and her slightly iffy partner. Secret lunches no less.

No, not THAT former spice girl, do keep up, she and her family are best mates with Charles. This is the one who wears white and builds illegal gazebos.

That was poor form to slight the future queens sister.. Harry & Pippa apparently got on well, I am surprised she didn't make the cut..
Then again even the brides own father didn't make the cut... or most of her relatives..
