Oh wow, the Squidgygate stuff, that was crazy.
All this nonsense that M's hinting at about being some sort of reincarnation is absolutely loopy when you think about Diana's reputation at the time.
My memory of her is of an apparent ingenue who became a woman who shagged a lot of men (BM, JH, JG, OH, WC, HK, DF), some of whom were married and whose wives were upset - Julia Carling got a lot of airtime and her misery and anger did Diana's reputation a lot of damage. Diana definitely liked the limelight, knew she was very attractive, supported AIDS victims and HALO, was a gay icon, and died in a car crash because she failed to wear a seatbelt during a summer when she'd not been the greatest mum for various reasons. That year when she most needed to calm the fuck down and get settled in a nice gaff with a small, trusted staff, she was chasing the heart surgeon HK and then walked into the lair of Mohamed Fayed, a man now being compared with Epstein in terms of the scale of his trafficking and sexual offending. There's a vulnerability in there, but there's no saint. The people on the TV footage that I heard losing their minds at the funeral procession did not have British accents.
I'm not sure what Meghan's 'Project Diana' is supposed to achieve except dredge up a lot of interest in all the less savoury elements of Diana's life that are out there to find with about an hour's basic research. Maybe M hasn't done any research at all about Diana? H's recollections will be bloody worthless, like most else in his head.
