Why is Dan Wootton so obsessed and full of hatred for Harry & Meghan?

i recently listened to Spare on audible - purely because it was free and I was interested to see what he had to say. ( most of it was boring self indulgent crap imo)
predictably the algorithms have filled my YouTube with H &M stuff!

it seems there is a daily barrage of videos from DW about them, such vitriol from this man. It’s unhinged!
I mean don’t get me wrong, I’m no fan of theirs at all but Jesus he acts like they murdered his granny.
He’ll post a picture of one of them literally smiling and turn it into a massive conspiracy theory about smirking at the Queen on her deathbed or some utter nonsense

I am very surprised that you hold that opinion tbh, although I understand why some royalist posters would jump on any opportunity to discredit Lownie, given what his dogged research has revealed, but it’s completely ludicrous imho to compare him to the likes of someone like Dan Wootton,

So his research interests stretch far beyond that of the RF.

But Lownie’s main interest, as a historian, literary agent and as a campaigner for the freedom of information, is the preservation of accurate historical records. He also is a monarchist who holds the belief that there are certain less than optimum activities by AMW and certain financial factors being covered up by the current royal family and he genuinely feels that the UK deserves better.

As you can see from the link below, when Lownie wrote about Mountbatten, it cost him £500,000 in legal fees when the University of Southampton who had just bought the Mountbatten archive for a large sum so that they could be preserved as a matter of public record, refused him access to them. Funnily enough the other sides costs were paid by the Cabinet Office. Strange that!

The papers didn’t even contain anything particularly interesting or revealing but Lownie basically had to remortgage his house and continued to fight the case on a matter of principle, which demonstrated immense determination and integrity.

Exactly!!! , follow the money! It inevitably leads to the truth, however I’m amazed after all that was exposed about byline that anyone would support them now! 😬

He is a content creator making money so he needs an audience and topics. It's what he does. He isn't doing it for a hobby. M&H will get him a lot of traffic. He probably doesn't care that much. Gosh after reading a few things lately I do worry about people and how naive and out of touch they are.

All that PR and Meghan still only has 4.7m followers, despite the daily PR push around their UK visit.

A strange way to rate someone’s value if you ask me! Who cares how many followers someone that you don’t know personally has, or has not, got?

If you’re trying to build a brand or business, it matters. For all headlines Liam and his predecessors generate on her behalf, people don’t want to follow her on IG, watch her shows or buy her jam.

It matters to Netflix, it matters to her. It’s a commercial measurement of her ‘followers’ on Instagram.

I'm not trying to discredit him at all. I Just don't see a particular difference between him and, say, Valentine Low whose book Courtiers was I feel equally well researched and fairly damning, imo, about the dependency of royals on their advisers.

To be clear I don't think of him at all in the same breath as Wotton, who is happy to make up scandals for clicks and who is obviously very biased in everything he says.

Meghan doesn't post enough to build her follower numbers. Which is absolutely her choice and maybe she doesn't care about numbers. But if she wants to build her numbers she needs to post more, and sadly, probably more personally. That's what the really big celebrity influencers do, as opposed to people like Taylor Swift whose numbers are built elsewhere of course.

Meghan has just posted private photos of her family holidays this summer on her IG account. I don’t think you can get much more personally than that.

I think posters try and justify their obsessive posting about Meghan in particular as “amusing” and “a bit of fun” when really it’s part obsession, part nasty glee, part cheap gossip and part racism.

There’s a long-running. thread on here which is in its 25th iteration about M&H’s supposed PR disasters; each of which contains about 1,000 posts presumably? Think of that! 25,0000 posts for what? To obsess and ridicule? You can justify that number of posts about the actions of an American president or some significant news story, but for two minor ex members of the British royal family? It’s frankly absurd and has gone too far.

The long-running thread about AMW ruining the monarchy has had nowhere near as many posts!

Meghan didn’t appear in public or even utter a word on her last visit to the UK and you’d think she had committed a federal crime from the way everyone was carrying on. At this point they are damned if they do, and damned if they don’t.

I honestly think people are using them as some sort of kicking post at this point to get rid of their own daily frustrations. Enough is enough.

The Harry and Meghan posts on here always run to pages and pages! I can't think of what there is to say that many times! Re the Instagram posts- I only know about them because this came up on here. Otherwise I wouldn't have a clue. People are actively seeking out content to help annoyed about, and the press are following her Instagram and taking photos off it. No one forces them to do it.

Im not on here day and night nor am i always berating posters and my posting history would back that up.

if you looked at the posting history of those on the threads that do they have been posting almost daily for years and rehashing old ground over and over, thats obsession.
