I've just seen something online from Australian TV saying that Harry has asked Elton John to pay his court costs because he doesn't have any money! Apparently Elton is not amused.

He's such a grifter. No notion of trying to raise the money himself!

Seeing as Elton has just announced he’s out of retirement and doing two tours ! , ( obviously to pay the court bills) I imagine he’s thinking what we all are!!! , get off your ass , get a job and pay your own bills Harry!!

I wonder if he has stopped playing polo because he simply can’t afford it?

It’s certainly a sport rich people play - the cost of good polo ponies is quite unbelievable . A decent club level pony costs in excess of £25,000 and someone riding with a good handicap would be paying £100,000+ for A pony - and don’t forget you need a new one for each chukka.
A string of ponies needed to play a season -is easily in excess of £1,000,000.
Then there’s the costs associated with keeping them too.
My interest in Polo was sparked by-and I’m not ashamed to say this -by Jilly Cooper.
I don’t think William keeps any these days - he’s not as passionate about it as his father & grandfather were who had a 4 and 5 handicap respectively (which is very good). William is/was a 1-2, as was Harry.

On a tangent -would anybody be interested in a thread about Royal Jewellry?
I have pretty much every book on British RF jewels, the catalogue of the Duchess of Windsor (And Dame Elizabeth Taylor & Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis) plus ones on the jewels of the Romanovs & Tiaras.
I could post pictures and answer any questions I can and post pictures on request if I have them. If there’s no interest it’s fine!

I think Harry was loaned equipment and ponies for his first few years in LA but it could be that he has fallen out with the people who were happy to lend him stuff at first. I remember reading that some of the Santa Barbara set were unhappy about the HAM show at games - also there was the fallout from the Sentebale/Netflix shenanigans where the sponsor that donated the polo field to Sentebale withdrew their offer when Harry decided it would be used for filming his cash generating Netflix show (costing the charity a lot of money to source a substitute). Then I think Harry's polo Netflix show was controversial as it was more of a reality show/soap opera ... I doubt Harry has every really considered costs as I expect the bank of dad paid his polo expenses.

William still plays charity matches - he was at Hurlingham last week for a charity match - but he doesn't seem to play often like his father, and previously Harry, did. I read that polo was a huge challenge for William as he had to learn to play right handed.

@Puzzledandpissedoff I only saw a sentence or so at the start of an article, saying that Harry had driven out of Althorp Estate.

There's been so much speculation around that I can see why people want to jump that way.
I don't (personally) think there's anything more in it than a combination of
(a) the Sussexes wanting to make sure the meeting happened, and
(b) Meghan never being involved in Harry's court cases.

I know! He could use up some of his inheritance, stop paying for all those domestic and security staff, get Meghan to sell some jewellery or the designer clothes KC paid for, or, as you say.....get a job!

Look under Style and Beauty, @DaisyDooley. There’s a long running series of threads on Royal Style led by a poster called Maireas, and before that Queenoftheandals. They are very well informed and keen eyed!

I haven’t been over there for a while, it all went a bit nasty during Megxit when people took sides and it spilled over into personal comments about MM and C. However all that’s history and they’re an interesting bunch- could be your tribe!

ETA I see it’s been linked by @bluegreygreen👍

Exactly! , I think we can all see why hams rich and famous friends disappear or distance themselves!
nobody wants to be treated like a bank and be pestered for money constantly!

Quite. It's not as if they would be prepared to moderate their lifestyle in return.

Do you think they would be annoyed if I just did a jewellry one?
Not even current new pieces, but older pieces.
Im a bit obsessed and my poor DD is sick of playing ‘let’s look at jewellry’.
It would just be nice to show and share pictures and learn some new stuff.

They love discussing jewellery over there. Why not introduce yourself and suggest it as a separate thread? Only because the thread is mostly about style/fashion/clothes although obviously there is discussion of sparkly accessories. I'm sure they would love a dedicated jewellery one.
Also there's someone on instagram who does royal/historic jewellery. Can't remember the name - now I think of it I haven't seen any posts for a little while, I must be clicking on the wrong things and upset the algorithm.

They love discussing jewellery on that long running thread - especially tiaras

There is currently a discussion about rubies in progress,

But you could start a general thread

you don’t need to worry about unfriendly posters , many from here follow those threads too!
if you wish to start one here , I can’t see even the most argumentative posters having an issue with jewellery!

I think this is it - he was welcomed to the club when he was new but his popularity/novelty factor has dive bombed and people get sick of people looking for freebies. Plus there's no more Sentabale polo matches and funding.

As regards William, I'm not sure. Back in the day when Prince Phillip played I think he/the Queen bred quite a lot of his polo ponies. Princess Anne's first eventer, Doublet, was bred by the Queen as a polo pony and gifted to PA, perhaps the horse grew too big to be suited to polo, he was a thoroughbred cross I believe. When Charles started being keen on polo I imagine the tradition if not of breeding their own horses, at least owning his own string continued.
Then I think he probably kept a few for William and Harry, I can recall an interview with Harry sat in the stable yard, horses in the background. (And let's not forget a certain girl groom...🤨).

Now I wonder if William just gets lent horses or uses club horses for the odd match, but I think there's a military tradition of playing and there are probably a few kicking about at Windsor for him to use. I'm pretty sure I recognise the white faced horse in the photo above, which must be a favourite of his, though of course you need several for a match. I've never seen pictures of him riding in Windsor Great park, like a certain AMW used to, and Edward and his family sometimes do. But he has to ride and practice, perhaps in a more private area or indoor school. You can't just hop on a horse and do Trooping the Colour or play in a polo match if you haven't ridden at all for several months. So he may keep a horse or two.
We don't even know if the children are learning to ride, Catherine is famously allergic to horses, but I can't imagine a royal child not learning to ride and how will George do Trooping the Colour when his time comes if he hasn't learnt?

As an aside I also noticed William doesn't wear spurs for polo. No pictures of him on a horse with bleeding sides from the spurs like there is with Harry. He seems to genuinely like his horses and always gives them a pat and checks them over before mounting I've noticed.

Interesting post and now all I can think of is Harry Hotspur…but not in the historical context - more current angry H on a poor bloody polo pony 😟

We often see things from Sky in Australia - they really don't seem to like HaM do they?

ShamedBySiri · 14/07/2026 17:43

Listened to a YouTube chat about Harry's admission that he's basically unemployed AKA full time Dad. The person doing it mentioned his previous Heart of Invictus Netflix special (I didn't even know it had happened until sometime after and obviously didn't bother to seek out and watch). Apparently her commentary on it garnered 400,000 views whilst the documentary itself had just 100,000 views according to Netflix figures. Which is hilarious.
Anyway anyone remember when he was filmed juggling outside the window whilst Meghan was sat at her big table/desk, computer sat on a pile of her Bench books? Wonder if she did that on purpose to portray herself as the busy career woman with a useless clown of a husband who had nothing better to occupy himself with than juggling on the terrace. Or maybe it accidentally portrayed the truth of the situation. 🤷‍♀️

Anyway here's the link. I don't really know who she is, it just popped up as I was watching stuff whilst catching up with my massive ironing pile (it's been to hot to tackle for the last 2 or 3 weeks). A bit long winded at times, but the bit about the viewing figures is about 6 minutes in.

I'm intrigued by his claim that he's a "full time Dad".
Surely all Dads are?
Does he mean a SAHP? Hardly applicable when they have nannies.
