Balls of steel. She genuinely doesn't care. Guess it's to be admired

Not really. She's just completely lacking in introspection so isn't capable of feeling embarrassment and shame like other people would.

RecoIIectionsMayVary · 10/07/2026 21:11

I really think had he won the ANL court case M and the kids wouldn't have come.

That's why it was will they won't they.

M doesn't want to be there but they have run out of options.

I strongly disagree that Charles has been an enabler and is showing week leadership, at the end of the day he is Harry's father. A short private meeting does not mean everything has been forgiven.

I agree with this. I think neither of them see the fault in their actions.

Or he decided that a brief meeting with his son and grandchildren, with his wife present as a 'witness', making it clear that this was private and no photos would be released, was the least bad option.

Families are complicated and there isn't a perfect solution to some problems. Harry and his wife being one.

I would agree with you if he’d just met with Harry. The involvement of the children is another matter. It’s a door being opened. From now on, every time H wants something from his father he will dangle the kids.

Ooof.
Heavens to Betsy.
That might become my screensaver!

If they ever decide to film Polo, which could he be, Luke or Red??

No, I can’t see this as positive, I’m afraid. H and MM are trying to build a connection between Charles and their children and he’s fallen for it. It will be a lot harder for him to exercise any authority he might have because they’ve found his weak spot. Silly man.

Edited

I doubt that he has fallen for anything.

He has neutralised the security thing, slapped down their demand to stay at a royal residence. They didn't meet the King and Queen, they met Pa/Grandpa and his gracious wife in the private family home.

No pics, no public appearance, no cavalcade, no papps, no mean, cold-hearted King-won't see-his-grandchildren.

They must be desperate to have agreed to this humiliation-by-kindness.

I wonder if having Camilla there was also a kind of 'power play' from Charles? We know Harry loathes her, and especially given the horrible things he wrote about her in 'Spare', I'm sure the feeling is now mutual. I wonder if Charles basically said 'You either meet us with my wife present or not at all'?

Her presence will also have made the meeting a lot more awkward and formal.

BasiliskStare · 10/07/2026 21:16

I think there are two things here.

1 I don't think Charles is weak for wanting to see his grandchildren. It's natural. He is a man as well as his constitutional role.
2 Where I think he's played a blinder is , he has welcomed his son (who has thrown a lot of shit around about him (KC) , his other son (W) and DIL (C) , his wife (Camilla ) , the arrangements for BP & Harry's piss up / brewery type operation etc and H accusing the judiciary of a whitewash , made this week more unpleasant than it needed to have been) and just calmly had them over for an afternoon , and reiterated this was a private family thing - no photographs. I think KC comes out of this well. ( It's hard to cast him as unfeeling father just now ) as does Camilla. But since the pen incident if not from other things I think many think ( I do) Camilla is not easily flustered and a very good partner for KC. & unlike the prodigal son , she probably takes a longer and wiser view of individual events. I wonder if H will learn from this.

I wonder when Meghan and the children arrived in UK and where they stayed. I have to admire her, I don’t quite know what to call it - brazenness maybe - in meeting up with KC.

One of the reasons I am not keen on m is she reminds me of my hideous mother. My mum caused hurt, trouble and chaos all the time. She would do awful things and call a day or 2 later like nothing had happened, no shame or apology and usually because she wanted something.
KC is also a tantrum thrower and doesn't give a shiny shit about the little people so he doesn't care who h upsets, offends, lies about and that will include judge Nicklin.

Edited to say that KC also won't care if h has been helping himself to charity money, he will definitely bail h out financially. Hmtlq often bailed A and F out of debt.

That would only work if Charles were concerned about the kids being 'dangled'.

I honestly don't think he's that bothered. I think he's accepted that he's never going to have a real relationship with them. A brief meeting isn't going to change that. The kids won't really have a clue who he is and will be overwhelmed with all that travel. If Charles really wanted to get to know them, he'd have made much more time in his diary. I really don't think he's that desperate to form a relationship with them.

They will spin it that KC is not happy with W and C and is pleading with H and M to come back .

Where's the laughing emoji response when you need it!

They are delusional.

So how do we think it went?

  1. “Lovely to see you Darling boy. And you Meghan. Hello Archie and Lily. Hot weather isn’t it. Have a scone. Here’s some jam. Enjoy the rest of your trip. Bye bye”.

or…2. “Lovely to see you Archie and Lily. Nanny would you like to take them into the garden with the butler.”
Followed by a massive bollocking. And no, the bank of Dad is closed.

I love this.

I agree. Especially after all that ridiculous fuss about sekurridee, which all concerned studiously ignored.

I'm sure a meeting like this with the King was on offer ever since the children were born. But the Sussexes turned up their noses at it. Britain was 'unsafe', the family were 'racist', whatever. What has changed?

ETA I suspect the one holding out about bringing the children to Britain was Meghan. Harry could not take them without her consent. But this time she agreed. I wonder why?

Charles the Enabler strikes again!

A 41-year old man who insulted the judiciary and had his proxie Omid name KC3 as a royal racist was rewarded with a visit to King Pa for some royal gloss.

It is no surprise that H has not grasped that actions lead to consequences. A long enough, loud enough temper tantrum got him what he wanted.

IMHO, KC3 has truly failed as a parent and as a King.

Charles wanted to see his grandchildren which is entirely understandable. He met them in a private setting and is clearly doing his best to ensure the occasion remains private. What’s wrong with that? The children are not responsible for the actions of their parents and - because they’re so young - Charles can only see them if he sees the whole family as a package.
It doesn’t sound as if they were there for very long anyway.
I get that you want Charles to punish H&M for the wrongs they have committed, but in my opinion keeping things as civil as possible is the more pragmatic and sensible approach.

If H and M come for Christmas at Sandringham, W and K will be at her parents in Bucklebury.

The group photo after thevThree Peaks thing wasnotice of intent of exactly that, IMHO.

Neither do I, I’ve maintained all along that people thinking he’s yearning to see them are projecting their own sentiments. I don’t think he’s fussed about two children he’s barely engaged with.

But having met them, it will be hard to dodge the video calls, the letters, all the other sentimental guff that will be coming his way. Also Charles’s weakness has always been the need to be loved. They’ll play on that weakness for all they’re worth.

William the Conqueror shot him in the eye 😂

Everyday I read these posts wondering if Kate reads them with her friends and a glass of something nice after a long day. Sometimes I wonder if she posts… and today I hope Lunde is Kate 🤣

Realistically, they are a busted flush. Not to sound grim but KC is very elderly and it's likely PW will be king in the next 5 (ish) years. I really can't see how he would allow the HIHO that HAM desperately want / need now. Every single venture they have attempted has completely imploded. I really don't see a way back for them in the US. Only future they have is if KC puts a firm HIHO role in place for them now

Or an allowance with a cast-iron NDA.

So what though? If a man wants to do video calls with his grandchildren, where is the problem?

The kids are 7 and 5. If Charles hasn't shown any 'weakness' to them until now, I don't see how that will change because of a single brief meeting.

She wouldn't know where to look, there'sdbe no cameras for her to gurn into.

I think this is spot on. 👏 Charles has played a blinder in getting them to do the visit exactly on his terms. I also bet you anything that Camilla suddenly had to take an urgent and lengthy phone call five minutes after they arrived.

Rhaidimiddim · 10/07/2026 21:28

Ohpleeeease · 10/07/2026 20:59

Quite, @IcedPurple. And yet Charles still
went ahead with it. Either he’s being played, or he’s colluding, or both.

Or making a counter move.

JSMill · 10/07/2026 20:12

I agree. I am also intrigued by the fact that it seems to have been quite a short visit and apparently they aren’t staying the night. They are being held at arm’s length and being hosted in a private residence to minimise any royal adjency.

Maybe they've gone to stay with Auntie Anne, only a few miles away.
