M must have baws of steel to prop up her brass neck walking in there today.

I agree. I am also intrigued by the fact that it seems to have been quite a short visit and apparently they aren’t staying the night. They are being held at arm’s length and being hosted in a private residence to minimise any royal adjency.

😉

Behave yourself 😆

MyDogClive · 10/07/2026 20:13

If there’s any hat left, I may have to join in with the eating. I was certain M would stay put in California. I agree it’s been well played by team palace though. Any bets on what will be found wrong with seeing the king and queen at Highgrove?

IcedPurple · 10/07/2026 20:11

Yes, they don't normally make any comments on family gatherings.

I wonder if they were as fed up as the rest of us with the endless 'will they or won't they?' and just issued this brief statement, with the emphasis on 'private' to try to put a lid on the whole farce?

It also makes it more difficult for HAM and Liam to spin

Ohpleeeease · 10/07/2026 20:14

No, I can’t see this as positive, I’m afraid. H and MM are trying to build a connection between Charles and their children and he’s fallen for it. It will be a lot harder for him to exercise any authority he might have because they’ve found his weak spot. Silly man.

Passingthrough123 · 10/07/2026 20:15

Sussex Squad must be losing their shit right now. They HATE the King and Camilla, so Harry and Megsie popping in for a visit with the kids like nothing bad has ever happened so they can ask for a bail out won't make a blind bit of sense to them.

Lunde · 10/07/2026 20:07

But really minor as Diana moved out in 1992 - how many in the US could name it? She only lived there part time for 8-9 years as she moved to KP as her residence in 1992. I think Diana is more associated with KP these days.

It's not like her childhood home on the Sandringham estate or being invited to a royal palace like BP or Windsor

Diana didn’t like Highgrove as KC - allegedly- met QC there .

Harry is Charles' son and Archie and Lili are his grandchildren. They already have a connection.

I really don't think you can begrudge him what appears to have been a rather brief private meeting. If photos of the meeting end up on Meghan's insta, I might change my mind but it seems that Charles has done the best he could with a very awkward situation.

They will spin it that KC is not happy with W and C and is pleading with H and M to come back .

Exactly.

A very clear statement that this was a private family occasion means that any further comment, of whatever type, is clearly coming from one source only.

KC smart enough to know he's being played. The Sussex brand 🤔 is in the toilet. They are a global laughing stock. H knows he needs some HIHO role and it's highly unlikely he'll get it with William as King. It's now or never for HAM

And Charles wouldn't let her have a tennis court. Very mean of him imo.

I agree that it was very gracious of Camilla. She's a better woman than I could be.

But hasn't Harry sort of got what he wanted. Not the security, but he's been "princeing" around visiting hospitals, being fawned over by ITV and now he and his family are spending time with the King and Queen.

Ok there may not be any photos but the visit is going to be widely reported and emphasises their Royal connections especially in the US.

If they do want to come for Christmas it's going to be harder now to say no and they can't exactly be excluded from the Christmas Day parade.

Maybe I'm just an old cynic and he truly wants a reconciliation but I don't believe for one moment that Meghan does unless it is advantageous for her and the children.

I hope for all their sakes that I am wrong but going on past behaviour I have a feeling it may yet all go wrong.

I don't know if he has? He's lost a massive court case, was unable to stay at Buckingham Palace, the media (bar ITV) have been far from complimentary to him, he's had no armed security, his wife hasn't appeared with him in public and by all accounts it looks like even if his visit to see his father was a brief one if that.

I think what they wanted was a huge fanfare, the armed security, massive prestige and an adoring public and media. He's been handed his arse by both the courts and the media and if I'm right, crowds have been thin on the ground at events.

I cant see them coming for Christmas. There's no way if they haven't shown their faces in public now they're going to be parading Meghan and the kids on the walk to the Church at Sandringham. And I also doubt Meghan would leave her mother at Christmas.

I think it’s more likely they were summoned for a bollocking after Harry’s pop at the judiciary, and to be told not to expect any assistance from the bank of Pa.

BasiliskStare · 10/07/2026 20:21

I think , Well done KC. This just proves a private family event is possible without all the wailing and posturing. And others graciously ignoring all the brickbats. I hope H will take note.

Batcats · 10/07/2026 20:22

I don't know if this works but a good article in the Telegraph.

Dizzierblonde · 10/07/2026 20:22

I think that KC has played it well. He likely breezed in for a cup of tea, scone and jam (Duchy of course!). A quick pat of the head for the children and probably 'do take a stroll around the gardens' and off he may have gone to change for evening prior dinner commitments do we think? He's certainly not been taken hostage by HAM from what I can see.

Indianrollerbird · 10/07/2026 20:22

I disagree that BP have played this well. Accommodation at Buckingham Palace should never have been offered in the first place, resulting in the ensuing farce where they had to both withdraw the offer and break their "never explain" mantra. They have had to break it again with this visit, explaining its private nature in order to get ahead of what? Harry blabbing? He did that at their last private visit and in any number of private encounters with his family, why is this any different? I doubt this will be kept secret by the Sussexes. And I believe after a week of atrocious behaviour from Harry - his attack on Mr Justice Nicklin and revelations that he's a creepy creep around women and drugs - this is a royal adjacent reward that certainly is un-earned and unwarranted.

JSMill · 10/07/2026 20:24

If H and M come for Christmas at Sandringham, W and K will be at her parents in Bucklebury.

ShamedBySiri · 10/07/2026 20:25

I'm afraid this fills me with gloom as the annual Christmas will they/won't they will now be ramped up beyond all proportion.
I sincerely hope they won't get an invitation - pity all the other family members, how to ruin Christmas in one. I
If they are invited and accept, I would advise William and Catherine to debunk to her parents house and announce a Middleton Christmas.

I agree with all that. This week has been a shitshow for Harry. A brief meeting at Highgrove isn't exactly a 'win'. And I agree with someone above that Highgrove was a wise choice because even though it's Charles' favourite residence, it doesn't scream 'royal' in the way Clarence House or Windsor would.

I also can't see them coming for Christmas, but not because Meghan wouldn't leave Doria. Rather because while a brief, controlled meeting with Charles is one thing, mixing on an informal level with the entire extended family quite another. Kate and William would likely outright refuse to go if they were there. And it's been made clear that they won't get armed security and they'll have to play by the rules if they want to stay on a royal residence.

DaisyDooley · 10/07/2026 20:30

During the beginning years of the marriage Charles and Diana spent Monday - Friday at KP then weekends at Highgrove. Charles let Diana redecorate it - she used the same interior designer as she had at KP, Adrian ((somebody)) from memory.
As the marriage progressed and they both were seeing other people Diana stopped going to Highgrove and Camilla used to come and see Charles there.
Diana has allegedly never been keen on Highgrove as Camilla had helped him choose it in 1978 - the other one he looked at was Nether Lypiatt Manor which was later bought by Prince & Princess Michael.
After they separated Charles had it completly redecorated - all traces of Diana’s taste which he never liked were removed. I believe the interior design was guided by Annabel, Camilla’s sister.
I think it was quite a happy home for William and Harry though. They had ‘Club H’ in the basement when they were younger where they could entertain their mates without being papped.
It’s always been the home Charles loves .
I think pp are right - the meeting is here so they don’t have to be taken inside.
Infact, it’s Alsogot fantastic meeting /function rooms which are set away from the house. Maybe they met there!
I also think it was wise for Camilla to be there.
It’s times like this I really wish I was her friend so I could sit with her with a strong G&T, a sneaky fag and say “RIGHT tell me all……did she curtsey”………

There's more to come out about H. I imagine DM are sitting on a lot. I'm actually surprised a visit was agreed to. The CG pill revelation is very troubling and reeks of AMW type behaviour

I'm sorry but that's an awful optic to be visiting sick children today. In what capacity? He's a former member of the BRF. Wellchild should be ashamed of themselves for letting him use such poorly kids and their parents like that today - he's there for self promotion, nothing more.

He has no problem with other people's chlldren's faces being in photographs does he?

Yes, I agree. Somewhat troubling that the BP accommodation was allegedly pulled in case Harry did his usual victim act after the court case; but he gets rewarded with a meet up with the king (however brief and perfunctory) following troubling allegations that he tried to drug a young woman. I don't think Charles is a quick learner.
