It is just such a masterstroke from the Royal Family. Weeks of 'are they coming', 'will KC get to meet his grandchildren', 'Harry says his wife and children are not safe to visit the UK', then 'Megaha vows to never set foot in the UK and bring the Hamlets'. Then after the absolute (and not surprising) outcome of his latest court case, people not really being bothered if he and his family come or not, the simple statement. Perfect. Basically, sulky man child realises keeping grandchildren away from the extended family is not actually a valid bargaining tool he thinks it is.

Sorry for shouting.
I heard the news on the radio when I was watering the garden and I walked past the kitchen window.
I ran in & posted thinking it was breaking……….🙄🙄🙄

Lunde · 10/07/2026 19:46

Yes it was a masterstroke with the press blackout - I expect they got tea and the kids ran around the garden

Highgrove was a brilliant choice because it's not "royal" to the US market like BP, CH or Windsor and no major Diana connection like Sandringham

Of course it has a Diana connection. She lived there with him during her whole married life.

Passingthrough123 · 10/07/2026 19:54

It can't have been a long visit, a few hours at most. Harry was in Birmingham until lunchtime and then it's a 90-minute drive or a 45-minute helicopter ride to Highgrove.

I have so much admiration for Camilla for graciously accepting them into her home after everything Harry has said about her.

Passingthrough123 · 10/07/2026 19:55

It would have armed security though. The King has it 24/7.

jeffgoldblum · 10/07/2026 19:55

It cuts ham off at the knees!!! Private! , no further information or statements! , no pictures!! , if they leak anything I imagine there will be consequences.

Not armed security surely?

The King has armed security. Whilst they were at Highgrove they would have come under the cordon.

Didn't she hate it? I always got the impression that it was Charles' domain and she always wanted to get back to London. There were a lot of years where she was very unhappily married so I doubt if it's quite the Diana adjacent location MM wanted. However, the 2 boys may have been very happy there. I certainly would have loved to grow up in such a beautiful place.

Passingthrough123 · 10/07/2026 20:01

Apparently the King was in Didcot until mid-late afternoon, so the window is getting smaller and smaller! Must've been two hours tops.

Of course armed – he's the King!

Charles' country home in Gloucestershire - but a country house and not a palace!

More like a housing unit !

Unless they're staying there overnight ... ?

Chris Ship is talking through his arse ‘ the police had to be told to prevent a public order offence’. WTF ? There were a handful of reporters taking photos at a respectable distance. Harold and his team are completely deluded.

Who’s Harold ?

I agree that it was very gracious of Camilla. She's a better woman than I could be.

But hasn't Harry sort of got what he wanted. Not the security, but he's been "princeing" around visiting hospitals, being fawned over by ITV and now he and his family are spending time with the King and Queen.

Ok there may not be any photos but the visit is going to be widely reported and emphasises their Royal connections especially in the US.

If they do want to come for Christmas it's going to be harder now to say no and they can't exactly be excluded from the Christmas Day parade.

Maybe I'm just an old cynic and he truly wants a reconciliation but I don't believe for one moment that Meghan does unless it is advantageous for her and the children.

I hope for all their sakes that I am wrong but going on past behaviour I have a feeling it may yet all go wrong.

adragoncalledaudrey · 10/07/2026 20:07

M must have baws of steel to prop up her brass neck walking in there today.

HurrahforHollywood · 10/07/2026 19:54

Of course it has a Diana connection. She lived there with him during her whole married life.

But really minor as Diana moved out in 1992 - how many in the US could name it? She only lived there part time for 8-9 years as she moved to KP as her residence in 1992. I think Diana is more associated with KP these days.

It's not like her childhood home on the Sandringham estate or being invited to a royal palace like BP or Windsor

The report says he hosted them this afternoon. That sounds like an overnight stay wasn't on the table.

Starryfifty · 10/07/2026 20:10

at least now, if he's not kicked off Ingriftus, there shouldn't be any nonsense next year but let's see

IcedPurple · 10/07/2026 20:11

Kirschcherries · 10/07/2026 19:18

It’s interesting BP have confirmed it and made it clear it’s a private event.

Yes, they don't normally make any comments on family gatherings.

I wonder if they were as fed up as the rest of us with the endless 'will they or won't they?' and just issued this brief statement, with the emphasis on 'private' to try to put a lid on the whole farce?

Sophiecunninghamsfinger · 10/07/2026 20:11
