What has past experience told us ?

I don't disagree, I'm hoping, for the King's sake and the hope of a better, less dramatic relationship going forward that they have learnt not to do that.

Sophiecunninghamsfinger · 10/07/2026 19:29

Mylovelygreendress · 10/07/2026 19:03

I was wrong . I really thought she would never come to the U.K. .
BUT why is a private visit being announced?

I know! I'm going to have to eat @jeffgoldblum's cheese hat 🤷‍♀️

MrsLeonFarrell · 10/07/2026 19:30

Starryfifty · 10/07/2026 19:27

I can't imagine this is easy for William. Will these visits be a regular occurrence? Xmas? Will he, C and their kids have to tolerate it ?

I think both William and Catherine are both mature and emotionally stable enough to understand that a Grandparent wants to see his family. We really don't know the details of everything, despite what the I papers tell us. Family sitting down with family who have hurt them is hardly a rare situation for any one.

BasiliskStare · 10/07/2026 19:31

Good for KC , good for Camilla . ""It is a tale / Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, / Signifying nothing." All he (H) needed to do was be quiet and do things on the downlow. I very much hope H has learned something from this. I wouldn't blame W for keep his distance but really H did you need to cause the chaos?

edit for clarification .

ShamedBySiri · 10/07/2026 19:32

JSMill · 10/07/2026 19:11

Exactly. Camilla is a better person than me. I couldn’t have been in the same room with them.

Agree. Seeing Harry is one thing but I couldn't bear to have to suffer a visit from Meghan. Though I suppose if he wanted to see the children they come as a package.

Who wants to bet a "Private" photograph "accidentally" appears on a story board in the kitchen in the future? Possibly in the warm up to Christmas.

I must say, I didn't believe she would come and I also didn't believe the meeting would happen at Highgrove. Though I suppose it lends itself to tea on the terrace, a walk though the gardens and no access to indoor private areas.

I wonder if garden tours were cancelled today. 🤔

Which reminds me that when they were first together (not sure if they were engaged by then) Harry wanted to show the gardens to Meghan and demanded that all tours that day be cancelled. The manager said absolutely not, people book and plan a visit, often having travelled considerable distances, as a highlight of a trip to the UK. Of course Harry didn't like being told No, and tried to take it up higher, but his request was denied. A nasty temper was how an employee I know described the incident.

So anyway, Meghan will have got her tour today.

And I will return £50 !

I suspect H and M are in a challenging position financially hence M and the DC coming over .
Where are all their supporters who claimed that H and M don’t need the RF ? And is the family not toxic and racist and they had to flee for their lives?

Sophiecunninghamsfinger · 10/07/2026 19:32

Fromhere1 · 10/07/2026 18:33

I watched a few clips of the Alison Hammond thing....she was fawning over him. She asked 'are your kids proud of you...do they tell you every day? ' What an odd question... To be fair he said he thought they were proud of him but that they didn't say it every day.

The Invictus Games are a good idea but the cost is outrageous and so for that reason I think they should be discontinued.

That's a Meghan view point right there. My husband loves me so baldly.

That's an interesting point - why would you reconcile with a family that you described/ alluded to as racist? I thought M was going to need an apology ? Yet here they are desperate to get back to the salty island and all it encompasses.

BREAKING NEWS
KING & QUEEN HAVE MET Harry, Meghan and the children at Highgrove this afternoon.

Dameputtingonabraveface · 10/07/2026 19:36

@Kirschcherries as usual the Royal Family have played a blinder. Simple statement but pre-empted the HAMs. Chefs kiss....

Victorius19 · 10/07/2026 19:39

I think it's a Charles 1 Harry 0 situation. Out of the way at Highgrove, on the King's terms and with total security. And given Charles was in Oxford and Didcote today, I can't imagine they were there for hours. I bet he gave them 20 minutes and then got an equerry to show them the gardens.

Meghan must be furious that it wasn't London where she could tip the paps off about their route to Clarence House...

H wrote the book and called her the villain on Anderson copper interview. I certainly wouldn't want to be anywhere near that horrible prick

I hadn’t actually thought about the location but you are right . Meeting them at Highgrove was a masterstroke .
Well played KC .

Lunde · 10/07/2026 19:42

It's interesting that HAM and kids arrived at Highgrove, had tea (or whatever) and a run around the garden and managed to leave without anyone knowing a thing about it!

I wonder if Meghan was collected at the airport without being told where she was going.

bluegreygreen · 10/07/2026 19:43

MrsLeonFarrell · 10/07/2026 19:21

BP communications have always been very clear that Harry and Meghan remain members of the family who have made their lives abroad. All the sound and fury hasn't moved that dial at all.

Yes, this is entirely consistent with that message.

'A private family occasion', hosted in a private family residence. Very appropriate.

And also right at the end of their week here. The story can't be spun out through other engagements.

Starryfifty · 10/07/2026 19:44

Sorry ladies, is Highgrove where KC and QC actually live ?

It's Charles' country house, he lives at Clarence House in London.

In the house that KC pays William £500k a year to rent, burn 🔥

Yes it was a masterstroke with the press blackout - I expect they got tea and the kids ran around the garden

Highgrove was a brilliant choice because it's not "royal" to the US market like BP, CH or Windsor and no major Diana connection like Sandringham

Ah ok thank you

JoanChitty · 10/07/2026 19:46

I think the Queen would not allow Charles to meet Harry or Meghan without her being there as his guard iyswim. I believe she is quite protective of him and has no wish to see him hurt further or coerced by his idiot son and his grasping wife.

And that statement puts a warning shot across the grifters’ bows doesn’t it? No way should they be saying anything about the visit.

Batcats · 10/07/2026 19:50

I wonder what all the Sussex fans will make of this as well given all the demands that Charles should have made BP available at the drop of a hat, how the UK was too racist and unsafe for them to come too and how fully armed security should have been provided.

I think Charles has played this brilliantly. A private meeting a private residence. No need for police presence or any fanfare surrounding it.

And I don't think this will impact William and Catherine. Plenty people like me have siblings we don't speak to and we have our own individual relationships with our parents which is fine. I can't see them coming over for Christmas so I really think there's nothing for them to be worried about.

Charles' country home in Gloucestershire - but a country house and not a palace!
