@MyDogClive lovely news if true and well done KC for not creating a circus. I work with fractured families and very often estrangement and no contact is the right thing. Whilst Charles may not have been the best parent (who is), I believe he loves both of his children and is close to his grandchildren and various cousins etc. It must have been very odd for A&L though. I am sure if it happened there will have been a ring of steel around video footage/photos unless on the RF terms!

Batcats · 10/07/2026 19:05

I wonder if there's any part of Harry and Meghan that feels like complete fools they've managed to come to the UK and meet his parents with the kids and they've not needed any armed officers or that they've not been chased by paparazzi or even had photos full stop taken and had their locations of where they've been staying kept completely private?

Mylovelygreendress · 10/07/2026 19:06

Wouldn’t you love to have been a fly on the wall ?

Dameputtingonabraveface · 10/07/2026 19:10

So have radio 5 news on and just announced- they are my trusted news source. How lovely for KC, and also very magnanimous of Camilla. Let's see how HAM manage to merch this...

No. They never consider how they appear to anyone else. They just cannot be trusted unfortunately.

I was wrong . I really thought she would never come to the U.K. .
BUT why is a private visit being announced?

Exactly. Camilla is a better person than me. I couldn’t have been in the same room with them.

Dameputtingonabraveface · 10/07/2026 18:38

@BasiliskStare, but the Royal Family do not actually spout off because they are non-political. They has been some wonderful trolling over the years (the queens EU adjacent brooch being a great example and KC's recent speech at the Whitehouse). They get it (well the MIGs do) and this is why they are so important when it comes to soft power and smoothing international relations in an increasingly fractious world. The female working members of the Royal Family are actually quietly and tenaciously raising awareness and doing work around early years, domestic violence against women, the use of rape in warfare. Such a contrast to the Sussex two who just seem to jump on a bandwagon or turn up to speak about issues if they are paid.

Sorry if I wasn't clear but I absolutely agree with you 👏It was sort of my point

Same reason that anything else which suits is announced, Mylovelygreendress

I don't quite know what happened to Meghan being "done" with it all - or was that "sources" too? Hmm - but while it's fair enough if they wanted to meet as a family it might have been best kept private

Camilla is indeed a better woman than me. How on earth could she be in same room with a man that so publicly vilified her?

It's entirely possible she wanted to be there as a witness to what was said, @Starryfifty, and it's not as if it's something she'll have to go through too often

I said to my daughter this morning that they were all already in the uk , you can only hope they removed all photo / recording equipment.

Kirschcherries · 10/07/2026 19:17

Is it hats or cheese being eaten 😂. I dip in and out of these threads because they move so fast. As a cheese lover the triangle of cheese hat is an image I can’t forget!

I have to say I’m very surprised but pleased M, A & L have met KC & QC. I do think it indicates HAM need royal adjacency and possibly £££ after the court cases.

I can see as a Dad, KC would want to meet his GC but not to merch it.

MrsLeonFarrell · 10/07/2026 19:18

I think announcing the private visit stops speculation and not releasing any detailed information or photographs keeps it a private occasion. Probably the best way this could have gone and I'm glad the King got to see his grandchildren.

Certainly nothing about their status is changed by this and if they are wise they won't try and release any photos, if indeed they took any.

AtIusvue · 10/07/2026 19:18

Then all they’ve proved…:is that they didn’t need taxpayer funded security to come to the UK

Kirschcherries · 10/07/2026 19:18

It’s interesting BP have confirmed it and made it clear it’s a private event.

Exactly. Security need was, as always, assessed on a case by case basis and they were given what was appropriate. No need for 24/7 blue lights at their beck and call.

I get you but I wouldn't be able to at all tbh but good for her

Kirschcherries · 10/07/2026 19:18

It’s interesting BP have confirmed it and made it clear it’s a private event.

BP communications have always been very clear that Harry and Meghan remain members of the family who have made their lives abroad. All the sound and fury hasn't moved that dial at all.

Starryfifty · 10/07/2026 19:22

maybe phones etc were left at door but this is HAM we are talking about. They may not have a photo but there'll be plenty of posts and hints at the visit

I really hope they have learnt something and keep the visit private.

WhyamIinahandcartandwherearewegoing · 10/07/2026 19:24

Shall we do a sweep for how long it takes Me-again to drop some cringeworthy not so subtle ‘family’ themed post on the gram?

BigWillyLittleTodger · 10/07/2026 19:24

It would be nice if they graced her father with the same opportunity to meet his grandchildren, oh silly me, he’s of no use to them.

What has past experience told us ?

Starryfifty · 10/07/2026 19:27

I can't imagine this is easy for William. Will these visits be a regular occurrence? Xmas? Will he, C and their kids have to tolerate it ?
