On the comment that someone made before about Harry not yet paying his costs in the RAVEC case - what happens if he simply doesn’t pay?

I wouldn’t put it beyond him to think he is above such things.

He didn't pay the last round and T Perry still waiting for his 30milluon back

In theory they could seize any assets he has in the country?

Statement by Paul Dacre, Mail editor for decades, is blisteringly withering about Harry!

"Four years ago, lawyers for Prince Harry, Doreen Lawrence and Elton John accused the Mail, in a blaze of publicity, of placing bugs in homes, cars, cafés and landline phones. We described these charges – some related to stories that were over 30 years old – as “lurid and preposterous”. Today, in what was a momentous victory for the Mail, the High Court dismissed every single one of the 97 claims."

"That is an OVERWHELMING vindication of our journalism.
The Mail’s famous front-page naming five thugs as Stephen Lawrence’s “MURDERERS”, could have seen me jailed for contempt of court. Instead, it triggered the McPherson Inquiry and the eventual jailing of two of the killers. Stephen’s father, Neville, says he owes the Mail everything. Why Baroness Lawrence – for whom we have always had profound respect and sympathy – chose to turn on both the paper, and the brilliant reporter who campaigned for justice for her son for over two decades, is something I will never be able to comprehend."

"Prince Harry wrote a sad book which boasted about his killing of 25 Taliban, his drug-taking and, in cringe-making detail, how he lost his virginity. There isn’t a laundry in the cosmos big enough to wash all the dirty linen he has aired about his own family. For him, to complain about HIS privacy being invaded takes, not just the biscuit, but the whole tin."

"Poor Harry. I feel sorry for the way a confused and angry young man has been drawn into this case. The bitter irony is that his mother, Diana, liked the Mail. We were her paper. We took her side in her acrimonious break up with Charles. She and I would speak and meet. The Mail’s superb royal reporter was her friend and confidante."

"The truth is that this trumped-up action – which has cost well over £50million and wasted a huge amount of valuable court time – should never have been brought to trial. That it did, raises profoundly disturbing questions about the conduct of elements of the legal profession."

"Today’s verdict is not just a victory for Associated’s magnificent journalists – several of whom have had a terrible toll imposed on their health and lives – but a free press generally. Make no mistake. This was a conspiracy, supported by Hacked Off, to destroy a paper."

"Financed by the orgy-loving, racist Max Mosley and involving the actor Hugh Grant, it was also a sinister bid to resuscitate Leveson Two and impose statutory regulation on the press which, even now, is rearing its ugly head in Labour’s Media Green Paper."

"Some of the allegations made by Harry’s lawyers against the Mail involved Peter Mandelson and Jeffrey Epstein. They were rejected by the Court. But remember it was the power of the Mail’s journalism that, not once, but twice, resulted in Mandelson being sacked as a minister. And it was the Mail on Sunday’s exclusive picture of Prince Andrew, with his arm around 17 year old Virginia Guiffre in Ghislaine Maxwell’s home, that, ultimately, resulted in justice for Epstein’s underage victims."

"Such justice only happened, as with Stephen Lawrence, because of the actions of a free press."

I bet the Baroness Lawrence comments hit hard.

I was about to post. Dacre very very scathing about H.

In theory they could seize any assets he has in the country?

Remember, this is a man who had no idea how to top up his mobile phone until quite recently. Not only does he believe it's beneath him and how dare anyone come for him for money, he's simply not capable of putting a payment plan in place

DancingFerret · 07/07/2026 18:41

With Paul Dacre shooting from the hip and scoring a bullseye, do we think Harry will realise it's game over and time to retreat into the shadows?

As if; he and his grasping harpy are probably already preparing their next desperate puff piece in the hope of eliciting public sympathy.

Passingthrough123 · 07/07/2026 18:41

Harry's rebuttal statement is INSANE. Whiny, petulant, factually incorrect and basically accusing the judge of being corrupt. Interestingly it's only been released on behalf of him and Baroness Lawrence – looks like the others are keeping their distance now.

H has issued a statement. Don't know how to link BBC website.

No. He will never disappear unfortunately. He just never accepts responsibility for anything.

The decision marks a significant setback in Harry’s campaign against the British tabloid press

And there's the problem right there.

A court case exists to prove that a specific wrong was committed. Not as part of a 'campaign'. F*k off Harry and stop using the British courts to grandstand and pursue your personal resentments.

Starryfifty · 07/07/2026 18:53

Why is D Lawrence aligning herself with this clown ??

cheezncrackers · 07/07/2026 18:54

The statement is interesting. It sounds like H&Co brought the lawsuit against ANL because they thought it should be an easy win off the back of other similar lawsuits that were successful, like the one against News Group. Don't forget how that lawsuit brought down The News of the World. Clearly, H wanted nothing less than to bring down The Daily Mail, a paper that is relentlessly critical of him and all his ridiculous shenanigans!

And it begins. Word salad nonsense, victimhood, conspiracy theories, zero self reflection

God knows. What a shame.

My2cents1975 · 07/07/2026 18:59

At a time when trust in institutions is lowering, the impartiality of the courts is vital. For a Prince to impugn a Justice is just unacceptable. IMHO, H and DL need to be charged with the UK equivalent of contempt of court.

DL sits in the House of Lords and is a part of the law making. IMHO, she needs to be absolutely censured for this.

Badly done all around. Very badly done.

Passingthrough123 · 07/07/2026 18:59

What Harry and DL have failed to grasp is that the previous cases involving the Mirror and Sun started from a point of both newspaper groups admitting to phone hacking. The Mail have always categorically denied they practised the dark arts, as it's known in journo circles. Harry also only won something like half of his claims against the Mirror and got £400k, including his legal fees. Quite why he then thought it was wise to spend £30m fighting a case that patently wasn't the same is beyond me. I imagine the judge and journalists are furious at his statement - he's accused the former of being corrupt and the latter of lying on the stand.

Notice there's no mention of appealing though.

It was suggested at the time - how truthfully I don't know - that Harry might have offered to pay Doreen's legal fees as a way of getting her on board

If there's any truth in that, and having now lost, maybe she feels she'd better stick with him in the hope of getting the money

Good luck with that, @My2cents1975; they don't censure saints, and spare a thought for the performance she'd probably produce if they even tried

Middlemarch123 · 07/07/2026 19:18

I think it’s fair to say that Harry Pain is thoroughly hacked off.

Thedom · 07/07/2026 19:33

Video on X of Harry leaving Chatham house, hardly anyone there other than media. He left in a single Range Rover, no convoy. He made it away safely.

WhyamIinahandcartandwherearewegoing · 07/07/2026 19:45

That statement from him is bitter and paranoid. What the hell DH was thinking I don’t know. Interesting that the others didn’t join in.

Paul Dacre didn’t hold back 😮

WhyamIinahandcartandwherearewegoing · 07/07/2026 19:46

And the little dig at the start of the Chatham house speech about the UK’s lack of aircon….he really is a walking PR gaffe.

its true, but was that the best time to crack a joke at the UKs expense fella? 🫣

Anyone else want to bet he will be sweating at his next meeting with his accountant- even in air conditioned Montecito (assuming he can still afford to turn it on).

AtIusvue · 07/07/2026 19:53

I’ve left this in the other thread but will leave it here too. It’s a Reddit thread about the cost implications. Fascinating ….but also I genuinely think it could spell serious financial trouble

AtIusvue · 07/07/2026 19:56

The OP knows their stuff. Interesting too that if he refuses to pay up….basically they can apply to Cali courts to claim the money and the courts can do what’s necessary to seek payment. It could be bye bye Casa Monticeto.
