Interesting article.

I only read bits of it, but those bits reminded thecreader that the DM reporting has been responsible for forcing Peter Mandelson's resignation twice, and that it was the DM that published the pic of AMW and the teenage Virginia.

The DM gets dismissed here as a serious source all the time, but they do seem to do a bit of journalism now and then.

It's starting to circulate on X. Final costs haven't been agreed – there's a hearing on July 29 – but they won't be higher than the amount the judge capped it at, which is £4.5m.

Where did the judge cap it at £4.5m?

ANL have specifically referred to £50m in costs. That might be something of an exaggeration but even so, £4.5 m seems incredibly low.

He looks shell shocked and like he's about to burst into tears. But I'll give some credit to him for getting on with it.

His hands were shaking and I agree about being on verge of tears. He knows he's totally blown it. I bet he and MM were banking on the ANL payout.

Meanwhile in another galaxy, where cognitive dissonance is far far away...

A dwindling band of sugars howl into the void

I recently had a look at that subreddit. Seriously bonkers. That's the level of Sussex fandom these days.

First comment from a certain blog which is bitchy about celebrities:

Baldy will be behind this.

Which was pretty f*ing stupid of them.

He definitely looks upset. I wonder if this confirms that he only heard the judgement at the same time as the rest of us?

Not2identifying · 07/07/2026 16:13

I agree that he looked very subdued in that speech.

Growing up can be hard...

If they hit rock bottom and bankruptcy is looming it maybe the least worse option for her.

Nah. If bankruptcy was looming she would be out of that marriage like a shot

HurrahforHollywood · 07/07/2026 16:14

He wouldn't have known until the speech was over though surely?

Badvocthebad · 07/07/2026 16:14

Megs will never move here. Ever. (excuse the pun..) I think it's pretty clear her views of the UK.
It's sad for the dc. They are totally alone out there in California, whereas there are loads of cousins a similar age here, plus their ill gf.
Harry seems to have fallen for the Californian "wellness" culture hook, line and sinker.
He hasn't looked well for a while imo.
I'm no fan of any of the RF, and certainly not Megs, but she bought a dud, and she's starting to realise it.
He's never really grown up. He's still a not very bright 12 year old, angry at the world, jealous of his brother and hating his sm.
He is a totally emotionally stunted human being.
I imagine his temper tantrums have to be seen to be believed.
He has burnt his bridges with W&C amd the wider family.
Not sure cosying up to the York sisters is a good look either.

Sherborne will have known at least a few days ago so perhaps he gave him a heads up just before the public release?

I agree, Passingthrough, but in many ways it's even worse than the latest lost case and the ££££ in costs

Again and again and again he's been made to look like an utter failure, and that won't be easy for someone who was once surrounded by sycophants who'd coo and praise his every action or word

It's not even as if his own wife's prepared to go on record supporting him, so what his future will look like now is anyone's guess

Passingthrough123 · 07/07/2026 16:17

Statement by Paul Dacre, Mail editor for decades, is blisteringly withering about Harry!

"Four years ago, lawyers for Prince Harry, Doreen Lawrence and Elton John accused the Mail, in a blaze of publicity, of placing bugs in homes, cars, cafés and landline phones. We described these charges – some related to stories that were over 30 years old – as “lurid and preposterous”. Today, in what was a momentous victory for the Mail, the High Court dismissed every single one of the 97 claims."

"That is an OVERWHELMING vindication of our journalism.
The Mail’s famous front-page naming five thugs as Stephen Lawrence’s “MURDERERS”, could have seen me jailed for contempt of court. Instead, it triggered the McPherson Inquiry and the eventual jailing of two of the killers. Stephen’s father, Neville, says he owes the Mail everything. Why Baroness Lawrence – for whom we have always had profound respect and sympathy – chose to turn on both the paper, and the brilliant reporter who campaigned for justice for her son for over two decades, is something I will never be able to comprehend."

"Prince Harry wrote a sad book which boasted about his killing of 25 Taliban, his drug-taking and, in cringe-making detail, how he lost his virginity. There isn’t a laundry in the cosmos big enough to wash all the dirty linen he has aired about his own family. For him, to complain about HIS privacy being invaded takes, not just the biscuit, but the whole tin."

"Poor Harry. I feel sorry for the way a confused and angry young man has been drawn into this case. The bitter irony is that his mother, Diana, liked the Mail. We were her paper. We took her side in her acrimonious break up with Charles. She and I would speak and meet. The Mail’s superb royal reporter was her friend and confidante."

"The truth is that this trumped-up action – which has cost well over £50million and wasted a huge amount of valuable court time – should never have been brought to trial. That it did, raises profoundly disturbing questions about the conduct of elements of the legal profession."

"Today’s verdict is not just a victory for Associated’s magnificent journalists – several of whom have had a terrible toll imposed on their health and lives – but a free press generally. Make no mistake. This was a conspiracy, supported by Hacked Off, to destroy a paper."

"Financed by the orgy-loving, racist Max Mosley and involving the actor Hugh Grant, it was also a sinister bid to resuscitate Leveson Two and impose statutory regulation on the press which, even now, is rearing its ugly head in Labour’s Media Green Paper."

"Some of the allegations made by Harry’s lawyers against the Mail involved Peter Mandelson and Jeffrey Epstein. They were rejected by the Court. But remember it was the power of the Mail’s journalism that, not once, but twice, resulted in Mandelson being sacked as a minister. And it was the Mail on Sunday’s exclusive picture of Prince Andrew, with his arm around 17 year old Virginia Guiffre in Ghislaine Maxwell’s home, that, ultimately, resulted in justice for Epstein’s underage victims."

"Such justice only happened, as with Stephen Lawrence, because of the actions of a free press."

HurrahforHollywood · 07/07/2026 16:17

Hopefully he will drop all this endless legal action and go away and shut up. I won't hold my breath though..

Both her parents went bankrupt and I think that's maybe where her obsession with money comes from.

Unfortunately he doesn't realise he's blown it. It's not his fault. It's a stitch up

I doubt that very much, @IcedPurple. As the legal eagles have explained Sherborne will have known for a while, though I guess even he might not have relished telling Harry it was a wipeout

However if today's manner reflects how he looks after a little while digesting the news I don't dare think what the original reaction was ... and he's still got to return to SoCal and face his wife

Couldn't happen to a nicer bloke Grin

Unless KC is firm. Sell mansion. Down size drastically

The difficulty there is selling the house. It had been on the market for years and they got it half price, it's a white elephant. When a house in that area doesn't sell it's a major red flag. The mortgage is huge so there will be no equity. They should have taken advice financially but as ever they knew better.

The lawyers on both sides received a summary one hour before the release at 2pm.

Wow! That is a statement and a half.

great point about it being the media which so often brings these corrupt individuals to justice. If Harry has his way there would never be any scrutiny over the actions of people in power!

Apparently Harry was seen meeting with Hair Gel just after his IG speech.

What do we think is next? This is a massive humiliation for him. The judge didn't even throw him a bone he could parade as some sort of 'victory'. Comprehensive defeat.

Even so, I don't think Harry will be able to keep his gob shut. Do we predict a 'woe is me and the establishment is out to get me' speech? Complete with hints that 'the grey men' might have pulled a few strings?

IAmATorturedPoet · 07/07/2026 16:32

What a 🔥 that statement is from PD.

PH is in shock by the looks of him, once he has had time to fully to process this the shock will turn back to anger (his default setting) and we will get a statement or a 'spokesperson' article somewhere. Id be very surprised if he just walked away from this with his tail between his legs.
