He certainly knows how to make a needless drama out of everything.
God only knows what his father is making of the latest dramatics.

It'll be adding stress that he certainly doesn't need.

I don't mind being a 'muggy taxpayer' to support veterans in a sporting event that draws attention to the consequences of being injured in combat. Taxpayer money is used to support lots of good causes, after all. Trouble is, the only thing Invictus draws attention to now is H and M and we can't be sure where our money goes.

It isn’t supporting veterans when they have to pay their own costs though.
So who is it supporting and where is the money going?
If it was being wisely spent l wouldnt begrudge a penny. But when a veteran has to pay to get there and their own hotel costs then yes, I do feel mugged.
Invictus isn’t about the veterans. It’s the Harry and Meghan show -and consequently I begrudge every penny.

elessar · 30/06/2026 16:42

Some other interesting points in that article, including Harry blaming the MIGS for “leaking” that the Sussexes would stay in BP and therefore leaving them ‘vulnerable’ every time they exited.

I’m not sure we’ve heard anything from the palace have we other than that they’ve been offered accommodation in a royal residence as per every time - I think there was only speculation it could be BP? Plus we have heard that the offer had been made but not accepted by the Sussexes. So how could it be leaked that they’re staying there?

absolute flipping madness!

Interesting that Camilla met JK Rowling who has also experienced ungrateful brats

Some of what Tina Brown says makes sense, but this paragraph is just irritating:

she said: ‘If Harry thought that bringing his children would force Ravec’s hand, he was, as he is so often, hopelessly misguided. Right now, the Palace is in a crouch position about increased scrutiny of royal finances, thanks to the Andrew Windsor-Mountbatten scandals.

Yes, the AMW scandal is a huge issue for the palace, but that has nothing to so with RAVEC decisions, and shouldn't be conflated with it.

RAVEC is an independent, professional body which makes its own decisions on the information presented to it.
As a professional I have made plenty of difficult decisions, with corresponding private and public consequences. If I sat on the committee I would be furious.

DH and I know a couple of veterans who have participated in Invictus but refuse to be involved now solely down to H and M .

I rest my case.
It’s not about the veterans any more.
It’s simply the Sonny & Cher -sorry, Harry & Meghan show without the talent or singing. Or great guests.
I feel desperately sorry for any ex serviceman/woman who has been suckered into this.
I really hope there’s a massive newspaper expose about the whole underhand grubby mess of it.

When I saw that film of Meghan leading the veterans march, wearing flappy shorts and sliders, I thought she'd hit an all time low, and that's saying something.
It's now just about them and her questionable fashion sense.

I agree that it was gobsmacking to see this.
However, I wonder if there’s a bit of cognitive bias at work. This sort of behaviour stands out like a sore thumb to those who are aware of their behaviour, but there are others who don’t notice or pay attention to HAM, and to whom Invictus is still about wounded vets. They won’t notice her because she’s not on their radar. They are indifferent. They don’t care. Or am I grasping at straws? I’m not sure why I am defending them so much today Confused

That's been noticed by many, many people. It's been widely discussed how they have turned Invictus into their show.

Meanwhile a lot of US State Department documents are due to be released towards the end of July, following the Heritage Foundation court case about Harry's security.

The judgement said that his application should remain private, but apparently other documents can be released.

Interesting. I do wonder about his residency status.

How is the Change.org Remove H from Invictus petition going for those following it ?

It’s just culture really. In this case California and GenZ. More casual. More prone to demanding center stage. Many won’t be bothered by it or even notice because it’s just how things are for them.

No. It's not "how things are". Why does Meghan lead veterans? Why can't she dress appropriately?
This isn't some ingenue, it's a middle aged woman on the world stage, desperate for attention.

You and I @bluegreygreen 😂 I am sorry for disappointing you. Whichever way I spin it I am simply not a member of the WRF nor the BP diary keepers. So. Sorry 💐 Ha ha (actually though maybe as close to BP thinking as Harry is 😂ie not close at all )

ETA - I could have done the archive thing , thanks to you & others but I thought that article would be available - Thank you for doing it

Didn’t one of the SS post the Chatham House IG invite on Twitter - that’s Tuesday 11th 1pm St James Square

There are lots of exits to BP and they could easily leave in a SUV with tinted windows, But this doesn't suit them as they want to be papped for their PR

The other royals manage to go in and out of BP without this drama

I see in the DM - AMW did a pap stroll at the Sandringham Horse Show which the media is trying to link to Sophie 🙄

Not to mention flashing the veterans as she climbed onto the buggy in those skimpy shorts

BasiliskStare · 30/06/2026 17:39

I think BP can multitask enough to deal with AMW on one hand and H on the other . 😊

I think you are misreading me. It’s how things are in Hollywood with some people. It’s Kardashian culture.

I am not suggesting it’s ok, I’m saying that we don’t like it because we had different… what Americans call “home training”.
