So two years ago when the cancer was announced there were loads of really mean spirited posts on here complaining that she took time to have treatment and recuperate privately when she should be using this opportunity to raise awareness about cancer etc etc

Well, now she's doing just that and still people aren't happy.

I hope the Royal Marsden get a good influx of donations with the reporting of this challenge. Link here for anyone who wants to contribute:

I don't know how anyone in the public eye keeps going with all the negative nellies commenting online. There really is no way to win, much better to never complain and never explain.

APlateOfMixedFanciesAndANicePotOfTea · 28/06/2026 21:38

Looks like it was pretty murky on top of Ben Nevis! It's always a long hard slog up and down there at the best of times, I'm always full of admiration for everyone who does the 3 peaks. I'm off to make a donation.

myrtleWilson · 28/06/2026 21:40

@measuretwicecutonce am so pleased you asked how you could do this challenge and thankfully posters have answered with useful info. Am looking forward to you linking your charity fundraising site on this thread so we can all support you - count me in for at least a tenner. Which charity will you be fundraising for? Once you say, I’ll happily set up a thread for your endeavours. good luck!

Worth repeating.

Some of the bitchiness on this thread is off the scale.

ExitPursuedByABare · 28/06/2026 21:40

@measuretwicecutonce

You don’t need training and equipment love. Just stamina. Like I said earlier, my brother did it with a bunch of uni mates. Hired a minibus and one of them did the driving. Do it in high summer and drive when it’s dark. Let us know how you get on.

SixAndJuliet · 28/06/2026 21:42

measuretwicecutonce · 28/06/2026 21:14

Yes I know all those people do it however that doesn’t answer my question about the support and when you are doing something like this that is everything. Good for her however please let’s not pretend that she hasn’t had everything she needs when she needs it, it’s very very different to your everyday person in the uk.

Get a friend/ family members to drive you, between mountains or do it as a team with friends/colleagues, hire a minibus and have a designated driver/take it in turns. Get some good walking gear from mountain warehouse and do fitness training and hill walking for a few months before. Thats what most people do, including me.

I know you basically want to have a dig but whilst very physically hard (particularly on the knees) it’s really easy for ordinary people to do. As proven by the thousands of people who do it each year.

So if you want to do it, crack on.

I think it’s a shame that people can’t see the other side here. The RF are paid to raise awareness/money and are given all the support and PR they need. I’ve said well done and great she’s raising money however to pretend it’s open to all is ridiculous and quite sad.

It is open to all though. Anyone can do the three peaks if they're fit enough and competent in the mountains.

There are thousands of people raising millions annually for cancer charities by taking part in numerous challenges. I'm doing one myself. Like Catherine I'm grateful to have survived so far and want to give something back, especially because I've lost family members to the cancer I've had.

Maybe you'd like to do a fundraising challenge yourself and make a positive contribution rather than sniping?

JohnnieFedora · 28/06/2026 21:45

measuretwicecutonce · 28/06/2026 21:05

I’d like to do this, can someone signpost me? Where do I get 24hr support, all the equipment and training support I need please? Oh and transport to and from so my family can come? Oh and the time off work for all the training and to do it. Oh and sometime to look after DC as DH works shifts so it’s tricky.

Thousands of people manage this every year..tens of thousands...

Stop finding excuses

Recklessismymiddlename · 28/06/2026 21:46

Well I couldn’t do it as I have rheumatoid arthritis among other issues, but @measuretwicecutonce if you are fit & no real health issues, there is no reason why you can’t do it. If 30,000 a year do it then you can do it also. Make it a personal goal.

ExitPursuedByABare · 28/06/2026 21:46

Of course anyone can do it. What on earth makes you think they can’t? It’s just big hills. With open access.

She does work. You must have missed it.

She really doesn’t. Not compared to the late queen who had more children than her.

I’ve done it. 10 years ago admittedly but still done it. It’s tough.

You said well done and great she’s raising money? I thought saying wow was insulting to other cancer sufferers and she wasn’t “reading the room”?

Children to whom HMQE2 was a famously involved and devoted mother…

StartupRepair · 28/06/2026 21:55

I've had cancer.
I really like the way Kate talks about how it changes you forever. That has certainly been my experience. Other people tend to think it is over, behind you etc but even though I forge on with everything it is somehow still with me. It's great to hear a public figure express this.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 28/06/2026 21:56

straighttola · 28/06/2026 21:14

One must wonder how, if she can’t manage work yet, she has managed to get strong enough to do this?

Oh we can’t criticise the future Queen in any way, shape or form and those of us who do so are cold hearted meanies.

The late queen was as involved and devoted as she could be. Times were different then.

HoraceCope · 28/06/2026 21:58

what an achievement!

Recklessismymiddlename · 28/06/2026 21:58

the late queen was head of state. Kate will never be head of state. Two very different roles.

2021x · 28/06/2026 22:02

Damned if she does damend if she doesn't.

measuretwicecutonce · 28/06/2026 22:09

@noonamesi don’t think the RF do read the room and are very reactionary. Take the recent tax information being released, they are under pressure so the PR machine is in over drive. Anyway I hope many others get the opportunity and support they need to do this challenge if they want to, hopefully this will raise awareness!

Just one tiny step that Katheryn could take if she wanted to support everybody with cancer would be for her husband not to charge McMillan and cancer research £30 million in rent over the next 10 years for the offices they own like they have for the previous decade
I bet they don’t
