OMG, the comments asking 'why can't Catherine work if she can do this' are absolutely awful. 😖

SHE HAS HAD CANCER.

SHE IS BACK AT WORK. And she has been for nearly 2 years!

Oh yeah, and 'she didn't really do it solo though did she because obviously someone took the photo' yada yada.

Then calling her lazy and over privileged and just generally sticking the boot in! And deliberately spelling Catherine's name incorrectly!

WTAF?!

So much bile and and vitriol, and so sour and salty.. I feel sorry for these people who can only bring negativity and bile about Princess Catherine to the thread. I hope you find happiness and peace soon.💕

She really doesn’t. Not compared to the late queen who had more children than her.

Well if you are going there - the late Queen had a 16 year gap between her children, sent the 3 boys to boarding school at the age of 8 and also lived abroad for 2 years leaving her children behind in the UK.

So let's not pretend she was a hands on parent doing the school run or attending their activities.

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 28/06/2026 22:39

I’m afraid I also think her doing this to ask for donations to the hospital when her dh makes around £20m a year from the Duchy of Cornwall, is a little poor reading the room. However, I think it’s great she’s well enough to do that. I’ve climbed Ben Nevis, then afterwards are pizza and slept, the idea of then having to go scamper up Scarfell Pike a few hours later would not be fun, I’m always in awe of the people who can do the 3 peaks back to back. (It does sort of kill off the “delicate flower” view of Catherine’s limited work schedule doesn’t it? If she can do this, she’s stronger and fitter than the majority.)

A close relative of mine also did that challenge about 24 hours ahead of our Catherine. He certainly didn't do it 'solo'. He was with others and they formed a team...

No-one should tackle that sort of thing alone, accidents can always happen.

You must be blind
-Trooping the Colour
-Garter Day
-Ascot (not the most fun day out for someone allergic to horses)
-essay on Early Childhood Education
-Visit to the Battle of Britain Memorial
plus climbing 3 mountains in 24 hours to raise money for a cancer charity

.... and that is just the past fortnight.

Don’t forget the visit she did with George to the RAF.

How about a slightly different take: the work shy wife of a billionaire land owner undertakes a challenge with the support of tax payer funded security, private chauffeurs and mountain rescue experts. She then toddles off to her grace and favour home, where she’s warmly greeted by the aforementioned BILLIONAIRE husband, before cheerfully asking the great unwashed to donate to her worthy cause (during a cost of living crisis and time of high unemployment).

READ . THE . ROOM . CATHERINE

She didn’t really need to any of that did she. They could’ve just done a bank transfer for a few million £, and not miss it. Oh dear, I hope she won’t be too tired to dress up and wave at Wimbledon now.

OK I'll bite but might need to step away from this thread as I'm starting to find it distressing.

I was diagnosed with cancer last year completely out of the blue. It was a form of cancer which is rare, aggressive and had previously killed my parent in a matter of weeks. The experience has been horrifying but also life affirming. It's reminded me that life is short and we need make the most of it. It's made me sign up for a cancer fundraising challenge later this year because I know how lucky I am and I desperately want to give something back for those (like my parent) who haven't survived and for those who come after me in the future.

I'm also planning a big physical challenge for next year, not to raise money, but to live life to the full and push myself. This could also be why Catherine has done this. Not just to fundraise but to challenge herself and give thanks for being alive. If she can raise money for a cause she believes in at the same time then that's a good thing too but my own decision to undertake challenges following my treatment is a much more complicated and emotional decision than just fundraising and hers may be as well.

I’d like to do this, can someone signpost me? Where do I get 24hr support, all the equipment and training support I need please? Oh and transport to and from so my family can come? Oh and the time off work for all the training and to do it. Oh and sometime to look after DC as DH works shifts so it’s tricky.

you realise plenty of ordinary as in not royal people so this? this isn't some elite activity only the rich and famous can do?

Have a google, plenty of opportunities

Thousands of people manage this every year..tens of thousands...

Stop finding excuses

In the 60s doing the 3 Peaks, the Lyke Wake Walk, Striding Edge and the Pennine Way were almost rites of passage, lots used to do them, not a vast amount of gear needed, good, comfortable boots were essential.

Wow congrats Catherine! If you have energy for that, you have energy for working, right?

The woman's just got over Cancer for gods sake, and she has been working just light duties. This was probably a personal thing to test her recovery, get her physical confidence back.

MaidOfSteel · 28/06/2026 22:46

What a great achievement for the Princess. I think she’s a remarkable woman.

No one knows how much they’ve donated personally. Surely the more donations cancer charities (or indeed any worthwhile cause) receive the better.

Honestly, some of the comments on this thread.

JustAnotherWhinger · 28/06/2026 20:33

She did them all in the 24 hours it says.

on another forum some folks are criticising the fact she was driven between the three peaks, but I can’t imagine anyone actually doing the peaks and safely doing all the driving!

My sister has been a support driver a couple of times for different Three Peaks Challenge groups. I think driving yourself would be unnecessarily dangerous.

Lots of luck, if you’d feel comfortable posting a link to your charity I bet many on here would be happy to donate, myself included.

Please don’t let the nastiness on here upset you.

Absolutely. We all know if Catherine had just announced a donation people would be picking that apart too. I can’t fathom how using her unique platform to raise awareness of such a worthwhile cause is wrong? She also may encourage other people to give it a go, raising money for their own causes. How is this in any way a negative thing?

Zov · 28/06/2026 22:55

I do wonder why people who despise the Royal Family so much come onto this board.

Genuinely baffling. Confused

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 28/06/2026 22:56

@zov- compared to Anne, Edward and Charles when he was PofW, Catherine and William do very few engagements. They work very very part time for the country, with William focussing on work that makes him money, not royal duties.

The reasons given for Catherine’s limited workload has been cancer and/ or the children. The children are all in full time education now, she has more than one nanny, and now it seems her health is not just back to where it was, but she’s stronger than she was before her treatment. It’s a reasonable assumption that if she’s well enough for this, she’s well enough to work full time on royal duties. Why can’t they match the workload of Anne? Obviously they can, they just don’t want to. Which is pretty rubbish, unless you are a fan of getting rid of the royal family and being a republic, because William is the best argument against “they work so hard for us”.

It is perfectly reasonable to point out it’s pretty crass that a couple who earn £20-24m a year are asking other people to donate money to a cause they care about, but haven’t announced a donation themselves. Particularly when our economy is in the state it is at the moment.

but on a personal level, that’s bloody tough to do, it’s impressive.

People are “jumping” to how easy it is to do and are you doing it, because you said you’d like to do it and could anyone give you some information? Which lots of helpful people have done.

But she wasn't asking in good faith, has no intention of doing it and didn't actually want the information. i thought that came across in the tone of her post. It was just a way of digging at the PoW because she probably did have it made easier for her in the organisation than most people. Though in other ways harder, because a lot of people - as has been pointed out - decide to do it for a laugh and just get on with it. Not a lot of organisation needed beyond having the right kit. Particularly no security needed.
