Yes I know all those people do it however that doesn’t answer my question about the support and when you are doing something like this that is everything. Good for her however please let’s not pretend that she hasn’t had everything she needs when she needs it, it’s very very different to your everyday person in the uk.

hahabahbag · 28/06/2026 21:16

As far as being driven, this is the norm, most of us are on organised teams with mini buses. It’s unsafe to be driving yourself really. There is an unsupported challenge by bike but over a longer period!

One must wonder how, if she can’t manage work yet, she has managed to get strong enough to do this?

She's been back at work for nearly 2 years

Are you just trolling?

Lindy2 · 28/06/2026 21:17

I'm very glad she is feeling strong enough now to have been able to complete such a challenge.

She's done really well and hopefully will have raised a lot of money and publicity for The Marsden.

She is working. Even things like this are a form of working raising awareness and funds for good causes. I'm glad she was able to do the climbs without the paparazzi around and just announcing the achievement afterwards.

No she hasn’t. She barely does anything!

Presumably the funds raised will be doubled or even tripled by her and her billionaire father in law?

I wouldn’t wish cancer on anyone however this constant ‘wow amazing’ everyone Kate does anything is pretty insulting to all those who are diagnosed and having to work, deal with family life etc with very little support. As usual Kate and William not reading the room. Cancer outcomes and treatment times are going backwards 🙁

FlakyDenimHiker · 28/06/2026 21:21

why make bitchy comments?

She did extraordinarily well and I salute her for her achievement. But please, we all know she didn't do it "solo". There would have been security personal along side the Mountain Rescue people who supported her...

I did it with husband and son. I still did it, what’s your point?

wordler · 28/06/2026 21:21

So two years ago when the cancer was announced there were loads of really mean spirited posts on here complaining that she took time to have treatment and recuperate privately when she should be using this opportunity to raise awareness about cancer etc etc

Well, now she's doing just that and still people aren't happy.

I hope the Royal Marsden get a good influx of donations with the reporting of this challenge. Link here for anyone who wants to contribute:

But loads of people do the Three Peaks with minimal support. I know a couple of teenagers who did it. They were driven by one of the parents. It's not actually very difficult to organise and you don't need to be privileged you just need to be fit enough and be competent in the mountains. If you fancy doing it, just crack on.

paleyellowbrick · 28/06/2026 21:23

@jeffgoldblum
Ah ok - I understand now. I completely accept that I may have read EmpressSisi’s post wrongly and she wasn’t referring to the Sussexes at all. I apologise if I misunderstood.

Cancer outcomes and treatments are going backwards so raising money for the Royal Marsden is bad? Weird. Well done for not wishing cancer on anyone though.

I’d like to do this, can someone signpost me? Where do I get 24hr support, all the equipment and training support I need please? Oh and transport to and from so my family can come? Oh and the time off work for all the training and to do it. Oh and sometime to look after DC as DH works shifts so it’s tricky.

You can work it out. I did it 20 years ago. It was tough. My family supported me, I took annual leave for the actual challenge and trained weekends and on holiday. I'm sure if you put your mind to it and were determined enough to raise money for your charity (mountain rescue in my case) you could do it.

Unless you have no intention of doing it and just want to have a dig.

She didn't claim to do it solo. It was just a turn of phrade used by a poster to mean it wasn't as part of one of the mass charity events groups like macmillans organise.

I’ve posted the link as you asked. But you were clearly just sniping and not seriously considering it 🤷🏻‍♀️

at least hopefully it will raise money for a good cause.

and people, thousands each year do it. Not just princesses. My friend isn’t a princess.

Plenty of people do it annually. Either as part of a large even that provides all this or the just organise it themselves. If you want to do it just get on with it.

Is there a single thread on MN about Catherine which does not have the Sussexes mentioned in some way, shape or form? Do they live rent free in some people’s heads? Can she not be celebrated for what she does without comparing with them and what they do ?

They just cannot help themselves, and have to have a not so sly dig. That says a lot about them really.

If you're an outdoors person and you've already got extensive mountaineering experience you'll know what is involved, equipment required, skills needed. I imagine you've not done much uk mountain climbing?

My original post gives the quote of "solo" from a national newspaper. It's that point I commented on...

What's the point you're trying to make here? We're getting much better at early diagnosis of cancer due to screening programmes and recovery rates are improving for lots of cancers due to increase knowledge and research. That's certainly the case for the cancer I've had.

Its been absolutely shit though and I don't have to live my life in the public eye with endless speculation about me. To say that someone who has to live with that level of scrutiny has somehow had it easy is absolutely crass. I suspect that my own experience has been easier from that point of view. At least I don't have internet randoms wondering when I'm going to return to work.

I honestly don't think it's any easier if you're wealthy. If you're going to spend days vomiting from chemotherapy then frankly it doesn't make any difference how much money you've got in the bank. The treatment is still the same.

You’ve got to have the mental attitude to believe in yourself.
If you think you can only do it with lots of luck/help/support then yeah, it’s probably not for you.

measuretwicecutonce · 28/06/2026 21:37

I think it’s a shame that people can’t see the other side here. The RF are paid to raise awareness/money and are given all the support and PR they need. I’ve said well done and great she’s raising money however to pretend it’s open to all is ridiculous and quite sad.
