The paparazzi idea is like Meghan's fantasy overlaid on Harry's most irrational fears. It's really awful.
I don't understand why they can't all fly to Scotland and spend a few days quietly at Balmoral. No press, no photos, total security.

Apart from anything else Meghan would absolutely hate it there and also, I do believe the Royals regard it as the late Queen's very private, special home and wouldn't want it besmirched by Meghan nosing around and taking unauthorised photos.

I think they should set up whatever apartment it was that HAM turned down and tell them it’s available any time they want to come. Leave it at that.

No more conjecture or attempts at manipulation. BP can just put out a statement that it’s there when they wish to visit and affirm it anytime they are mentioned.

Like one might with any prodigal child. “Your bedroom is here any time. We’d love to see you.”

edited to add: Bad idea. That’s 20 rooms, four stories. But you catch my drift. One place, all set up, always there, end the questions about where they’ll stay.

I think I see what you were driving at .😃 So not Apartment 1 KP , but there must be a guest suite of rooms in eg BP, or one of Balmoral or Sandringham's cottages which could be made available for H&M and children at v. short notice, so not necessarily their own place but one could be made available at short notice . Which as you say , would be - "come over anytime the beds are all made up" . I am sure they can change the sheets in the time H&M are in the air. 😂

Exactly. They’d probably always refuse but it cuts out the ability to use the media like they have this weekend. Cuts out much of their ability to complain and act pitiful.

“The door is always open!”

There are rooms/suites of rooms always available at BP for visiting royals and dignitaries.

These are separate from the ‘family quarters’ which are in the right hand side wing of the place as you look at it from the front.
So there can ALWAYS be and always will have been rooms they could stay in. Yes, BP has been undergoing renovations but it’s been a 10 year project and obviously not all out of action at once.
BP has kitchens to order food from, a swimming pool and large gardens plus a no fly zone and is guarded by armed men 24 hrs a day.
They could easily have stayed there but chose not to.
The children could have been left there with Nannie’s/Doria with a footman outside to escort them to the pool/gardens etc (and to ensure they didn’t wander nowhere) while H&M left via a side entrance in a blacked out vehicle To go to their appointments.
The King could have popped in to see them if he had time.
But that’s not safe enough.
Apartment 1 in KP that they turned down was huge -bigger than 1A (where William and Catherine lived till they moved to Windsor) so impossible to keep permanently available.
Interesting fact -Queen Victorias daughter Louise lived in apartment 1 in KP when it was the whole of 1 &1A. It straddled the corner of KP and would have had in excess of 40 rooms, plus the private garden. I very much doubt any rent was paid!! The Aunt Heap indeed!

NotTalkinBoutTheLinen · 29/06/2026 00:12

This is what I’m saying. Dedicate one to them and make it public that they have their own space anytime they like. It’s massive, there are endless rooms. One can be marked off just for them. Then anytime they mention coming they don’t get to play these games about where they will stay. They can stay there or find a place on their own.

In the past the accommodation offers have been for Buckingham Palace or St James' Palace where they would be inside the armed security cordon with RPOs and the Army guarding the properties. Harry has refused these offers in the past and the Met Police are reluctant to pay for teams of specialist protection officers to sit inside and outside hotels or Soho House.

The Invictus events will likely have their own security and police presence - However the streets won't be cleared and they won't be blue lighted through the streets in a massive presidential style convoy of black SUVs as they would prefer. Their private security can organise a convoy and liaise with the Met

BasiliskStare · 29/06/2026 00:30

@NotTalkinBoutTheLinen @Lunde abd @DaisyDooley amongst others - I could not agree more. Within BP alone there must be guest apartments where , State visits aside, it would be pretty much guaranteed H&M and 2 children could be put up. Or if not a quick change to St Jame's Place . A little like - you're not in your normal bedroom because cousin Robin is over. But the permanent offer of accommodation within a Royal building is there. I think that is pretty much the case now though. It's just H chooses to make it a problem .

He is boorish (fabulous word ) Or to be more accurate , that's how he appears to me. Who knows. I wouldn't bet the farm, though, on him having a thoughtful, intelligent , conciliatory, self reflective and modest disposition.

Reporting in on some further MSM articles.

The Times: this is behind a paywall and I can’t archive it, but it’s by Polly Vernon and the title is self-explanatory.

Is Megxin or Megxoff … Are Harry and Meghan still playing games?

In terms of positioning on the current Times webpage, it’s well below two prominent and positive articles about (1) Catherine’s ‘Three Peaks’ achievement, and (2) William & the late Queen Elizabeth’s love of taking afternoon tea together.

Double ooof.

Is Megxin or Megxoff … Are Harry and Meghan still playing games?

The Sussexes appeared poised for a return to the UK with their children. Now, it seems, King Charles may be in for a longer wait to see Archie and Lilibet

I imagine so. He has a lot to learn about the workings of … everything.

I don’t think this MailOnline column from the fragrant Wink political (ex)wife Sarah Vine has been linked on the thread yet.

Is it just me who's miffed that we're hanging out the bunting for Harry?

https://www.dailymail.com/news/royals/article-15935187/SARAH-VINE-whos-miffed-hanging-bunting-Harry.html

Many more brutal BTL comments, as ever. I’m detecting a lot more direct criticism of Harry now, rather than the blame being directed M’s way. This is seen very much by the commenting public as Harry’s Game, and they don’t like it.

SARAH VINE: I'm miffed that we're hanging out the bunting for Harry

Put out the bunting, dust down your best china, polish your front doorsteps. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are gracing shabby old Blighty with their presence.

There is a video of Catherine hiking up Ben Nevis, posted by another hiker, she was with two guys in hiking gear, one walking ahead and one walking behind her, load of other hikers ROUND, such a juxtaposition to H&M tantrums about security and accusations of dangerous UK.

And William, the children, her parents and brother met her at the bottom of Snowdon when she finished. No fuss, publicity or fanfare.
It demonstrates beautifully just how ridiculous the Sussexes are, doesn’t it?
I can imagine Meghan’s fury as there’s no way she can ever get one up on Catherine. Catherine is in a totally different league.

noonames · 29/06/2026 06:34

This is interesting and I think probably closer to the truth than the previous narrative of Charles pining for his grandchildren, begging them to come and falling over himself to give them everything they want:

“For the sake of family harmony the Palace would have been perfectly happy with a peaceful and low-key visit.”

Which reads to me as nobody particularly wants them here, but they’d never hear the end of it if they said so.

The contrast between the Sussex shenanigans and recent RF coverage makes them look even worse imo - especially Armed Forces Day highlighting George beginning to take part in the odd engagement in a very natural way, while the Sussex children are exploited for social media clicks but never shown as actual people with faces - and the Three Peaks Challenge at the weekend, a hard physical challenge on behalf of other people, a charity which had a long association with Diana (hence the appearance of the ring I guess), and out there in public with very little security, no paps, and no photos leaked by other hikers. Makes Harry’s tantrums look so childish and inconsequential imo.

On Instagram a heritage influencer has posted about the Signature tour of Sandringham they were invited to. The place is stunning. So much more beautifully decorated than I would have expected, it’s really lovely. I think I must see if I can sign up for a tour. Anyway no wonder the Royals all love it so much. Hard luck Harry - you’re not invited any more. And sadly your children are unlikely to ever have the pleasure either because of your behaviour.

I sometimes wonder if one of them will grow up and change their names and come to the UK and work incognito at one of the palaces. The only way to experience their heritage. It would be hilarious. I hope they do.

They basically wanted a blue light motorcade everywhere, cosplaying royal engagements announcing to the world their importance and providing some more photo ops for the Sussex PR machine (machine = meghan and some downtrodden intern) to flog to Netflix.

So tried to bounce the UK Govt into a quick decision to review and change security arrangements by announcing a return en famille.

UK Govt - “nope”

And thank god for that. @

Yet another PR disaster. Also they haven’t accepted the offer of royal accommodation

https://www.dailymail.com/news/royals/article-15936837/Prince-Harry-Security-row-overshadows-UK-trip.html

Worse though is how this is another PR disaster for Invictus. I don’t understand why the board of Invictus are continuing to accept Harry mixing his ‘business’ with his personal life.

Invictus sadly has been eclipsed and sullied by Harry&Meghan and all the personal drama they manufacture.

Dontwearmysocks · 29/06/2026 07:11

@Thedom right? When was the last time you saw Invictus mentioned in the press and it was a story about the work they do?

The H&M drama has tainted this charity, it’s become a vehicle for their PR and nothing more.

I’d be livid if I was on the board….

There is currently a petition to get rid of Harry from Invictus, because of the negative impact he and his wife are having on the organisation.

Thedom · 29/06/2026 07:22

Publicly criticising Invictus for their indulging of Harry & Meghan is still a hot potato though as no one wants to be seen to be critical of injured military veterans. I think that will change, it’s a bit like when there was a time you were accused of being a racist if you said an outfit Meghan wore didn’t suit her or something equally as innocuous.

If the children have got any sense they will disappear into oblivion and live very quiet and private lives. Imagine having those two complete idiots for parents. Being brought up in a soap opera. I really pity them.
