Also, while all this was going on with his wife battling cancer and his Dad battling cancer, and the stress and the worry - at any point he could have become monarch with all that entails - no whining, no grumbling, no self pity from William.

I've always thought she has a core of steel. You'd have to have to marry William knowing the level of scrutiny you'd be under forever after.

What a shame that the Sussexes had tried to move in on 'sporty' territory with the part in their UK itinerary where they're going to try their hand at new sporting activities. Yes, inept throwing, how lovely. Not really like climbing a mountain though is it?

The contrast couldn't be clearer.

Strawberriesandcaviar · 28/06/2026 21:38

Lol at

“Frankly it’s time Camilla answered the phone to him with a large gin in her hand, told him to fuck off and blocks his number.”

ha ha

That core of steel, was evident at the walkabout, with the Sussexes, after the late queen’s death.

I think they all dressed in shades of burgundy soon after Meghan said the royal ladies were not allowed to wear the same colour as senior royals, could have been a coincidence, but it was quite amusing either way, showed how Meghan had a flawed image of the Royal ‘rules’ .

Didn't know about that one!

@Passingthrough123 it was after one of Harry's media rants about the 'men in grey suits' controlling things / doing things to his detriment.

It just so happened that several senior royals were seen wearing grey suits on engagements over the following few days.

This was how the Express reported it (archive link) https://archive.is/KI8vt

Passingthrough123 · 28/06/2026 21:42

The comments under this story in their favourite mouthpiece magazine really won't please the Sussexes…

The paparazzi idea is like Meghan's fantasy overlaid on Harry's most irrational fears. It's really awful.
I don't understand why they can't all fly to Scotland and spend a few days quietly at Balmoral. No press, no photos, total security.

... because no press and no photos is H&M's idea of hell.

Everything they do is slightly outdated, so of course their beliefs about security are

They're just very badly informed and too arrogant to actually find out what's really happening. It requires a certain intellectual curiosity.

This. However, fortunately for them, they will always generate headlines

BasiliskStare · 28/06/2026 22:01

I can imagine in the "show up do good" household - " H , H get me a helicopter to the top of Kilimanjaro and whilst you're at it add a couple of diamonds to my engagement ring. Don't ask why - just do it. & take a photo of the Arc'teryx jacket whilst you're at it. I'll post it en route "

Disaster tourism doesn't quite resonate as well does it ?

The truth is , they can never compete with W&C for obvious reasons. However , if they had picked some causes and really, with integrity , concentrated on them, they could have engendered some respect. It is my opinion that they liked the idea of being philanthropists more than they liked the idea of properly , thoughtfully engaging with philanthropy. H thought he just had to turn up and M thought it got her in the Angelina Jolie / Cloony etc league. That may be unfair , but my opinion from afar.

Absolutely! So determined, good humoured, positive and resilient.
Plus doing something for a great cause.
How refreshing.

Such a Stepford archetype ( not).

Strawberriesandcaviar · 28/06/2026 22:03

The comments under the Invictus petition are brutal too

Such a Stepford archetype ( not).

The very opposite of a Stepford Wife! No hanging around in a kitchen with the flower sprinkles and clinging on to her man.

Lunde · 28/06/2026 22:10

Rhaidimiddim · 28/06/2026 22:02

Such a Stepford archetype ( not).

Yet not floating around as the good little wife and faux Lady of the Manor picking fake fruit and topping everything with runny jam and flower sprinkles

Emmm , what have those of us in NE Scotland done to deserve that ??

ShamedBySiri · 28/06/2026 22:25

Well I have donated to the Royal Marsden, dedicating my donation to Catherine.
And I have also signed the petition to have Harry removed from Invictus.

Actions have consequences, rewards and just desserts.

Huge admiration for Catherine, she's amazing.

They really are. Meg should have been removed from all Ingruftus after the hot pants farce but no, she must be centre stage.

Fromhere1 · 28/06/2026 22:39

I've signed that Invictus Petition too and I never do that kind of thing usually.

Like others, I just don't understand why they can't just quietly come in to the country and meet with those who would like to meet them? And quietly depart again.

And why does Meghan need to hang off Harry when he is 'working'. Why the hoo ha and fuss?!
