Does anyone know if the Chelsea Pensioner visit would have to be Palace approved? In other words, would the Palace have arranged it?

The BBC fawning? what a surprise 🙄

They love the Meghans! 😉

I have just got round to reading Tom Bower's 'Betrayal' and although very little of it was new information, it is stunning to see how it has been one thing after another after another.

When we're following along in real time, it's like 'I wonder what they'll do this week/month' and it's managable to keep up (and entertaining) but reading about years in one go kind of makes me think: they must be so exhausting to deal with. William and Catherine are well out of it.

I only mentioned Camilla earlier so that she can support Charles. It's a lot for him to have to cope with on his own (seeing all of them rather than just Harry). If I were him, my strategy would be to ask them questions about themselves and their life in California and always deflect it back so he doesn't give anything away.

Very wise, @Not2identifying, and I'd suggest that should apply 100-fold over his health issues, especially when it would be only natural for a son to ask how he's getting on

Unless of course he really wants to see his rightly private medical details broadcast to all and sundry

Every so often when we see current headlines, or remember particular events from previous years, I think about how horrible it was for us, who only saw the public side, and imagine all the private arguments and snide comments that must have happened behind closed doors.

It must have been a horrendous time for everyone. I hope if Charles does feel the need to meet them that he doesn't open himself up to difficult scenarios like that.

(For anyone who might object to this comment: I think it's reasonable to infer private behaviour from public behaviour and published words; we also know that Harry did phone and shout at the late Queen.)

I’m sorry to vent! , but I have just lost all hope about people!
don’t look at the William thread unless you wish to join me.

What's going to stop h and m telling all after this visit ? Nothing. They'll monetise this. Kids their grandfather, the king of England. We tried to meet up with PW so cousins could be together but they refused because they are racist blah blah

@BigWillyLittleTodger Upon researching (google 😁) There are a series of Invictus related meetings being hosted at the RHC. It puts a slightly different slant on things , to me. So H&M are not visiting in way that eg Sophie has on Founder's Day , they are using the Hospital as a venue for meetings and then they will do a walkabout. So I don't think this would have to be palace approved. https://chelsea-pensioners.co.uk/venue-hire
That's my supposition.

@BasiliskStareso basically their team craftily found something they could do that would look like a proper royal visit.

Thank you, much appreciated, so maybe the Palace have no involvement at all possibly.

To be fair organising meetings at a place that is known for looking after veterans is a natural choice for Invictus. It only looks odd because it has Royal in the name and Harry used to be a working royal. If anyone else was leading Invictus it would be unremarkable.

To be fair to Meghan she really is rather fond of pensioners.

Well what a day we have had to end on this!

I have been on two long and delayed train journeys to Paris and back and the harkles, in PR terms at least, have been on a long journey to nowhere and back where they started too.

And the wheel turns

I have now read the actual article on my Apple News! ( links never work but I can try if people want!)
the basic outline is thus…. ( my own bits added!) Harry has desperately released leak after leak to try and strong arm Charles or the government to give him the security he wants by telling everyone and his horse not only that he’s bringing the whole family but a detailed itinerary Down to what pants he’s wearing!
it hasn’t worked ravec have apparently not been swayed, he’s not getting it! Obviously we all here know that Charles couldn’t do anything about it so 🤷‍♀️
now his bluff has been called Meghan has the perfect opportunity to not come with the kids afterall! All while blaming nasty racist U.K. for not protecting her and her kids!
ta da !
