I think the palace has missed a trick. They didn't need to risk looking mean. They could have said 'no room' on Thursday, when they knew the Daily Mail verdict would be announced today.

Why on earth should they be looking for "tricks". They're just behaving in a straightforward way. Unlike Harry.

I think they're tired of Harry's games. Sometimes you just have to do what's right regardless of how it might 'look'. The royals play the long game anyway, and this will be old news a week from now, especially with the World Cup and so much else going on.

Most ordinary people who glance at headlines must think " Christ almighty when will this Pratt Harry ever stop?"

They need better advisors. I’m sure they think that it’s getting the public behind them but it’s clearly not. He’s never bothered staying there before so he’s clearly able to safely stay somewhere else.

I strongly suspect they surround themselves with people who will say what they want to hear and anyone who says anything different is ignored.

There is a strong message in 'You were given a deadline. You've missed it.' It paves the way for any more messing about by Harry to be dealt with similarly.

Next time I wouldn't even offer. But I guess that's easy for me to say.

Yes, and when you're dealing with a bad faith drama llama like Harry (and his wife) you can't really win, at least in the short term. There'll always be something to whine about. So best just not to play. Which is tough for Charles as Harry is his son, but he's also 41 years old and you have to draw the line somewhere, especially when you're a Head of State.

If he’s in central London it will likely be the Raffles at the Old War Office or the Corinthia - both on/near Whitehall and both accommodate Heads of State when they don’t stay at their embassy residence.
