Here’s a nice collection of royal wedding looks

Queen Noor’s is lovely.

I still like Marie-Chantal’s Valentino, too.

Some I’d expect to be more stylish - Letizia of Spain, Rania of Jordan, Lady Helen Taylor.

A Look Back at 60 of the Most Breathtaking Royal Wedding Dresses of All Time

You really look at this dress and see a perfect fit?

Yeah, it looks fine. I'm sure people are seeing what they see but I don't see anything objectionable in it. I didn't like her reception dress. The high collar and no sleeves was a bit of a weird sci-fi vibe for me.

Princess Margaret’s dress is my all time favourite.
I don’t think any royal bride has ever got it wrong, how can you say that?
I liked Diana’s wedding dress it was fitting at the time.
Everyone has their own preference.
I really like how royal bridesmaids usually wear cream and stick to erring on the traditional side.
I hate to see bridesmaids in cheap, ill fitting dresses and I’ve unfortunately seen many in my time. One of the reasons it’s better to stick to tradition and have children or teenagers as bridesmaids and not older, fat women. Sorry but it’s true.

Take your misogyny elsewhere

It is made to measure by the House of Givenchy and it is gaping and pulling in several places

I'm definitely very far from a perfectionist! So don't have that much of an eye for it. As I say I totally accept others see it something terribly wrong with it but it really looks fine to me.

I don't have a particularly discerning eye but I can see that's it's clearly too big in every dimension. It's baggy and shapeless and almost falling off her shoulder, and the minimalist style makes the poor fitting all the more obvious. That's not what you expect from a custom Givenchy gown for a royal wedding watched all around the world.

I always thought as wedding dresses go, Fergie looked way better than Diana….

I line Fergie’s dress a lot as well.

queenofnorthsheen · 07/06/2026 14:32

This is definitely the best tiara imho!

I thought it was meant to be like that on the shoulders. A really wide neck line that comes to the shoulders. Sorry, I'm just not bothered by that level of detail! I like it and think it looks nice. Other opinions that see it as ill-fitting are just as valid.

I bought a book in a charity shop about Diana and Fergie’s style. I think it’s called Royal Style Wars (!) anyway, I’d say by today’s standards Fergie’s outfits were often better. But she didn’t have Diana’s height, slimness or charisma (or budget). Diana had a heck of a lot of style ‘misses’ that are often forgotten.

I like the neckline and agree it's meant to be like that. It's the rest of the fit that I don't care for - you can see these very big sort of ripples in the fabric and it's not fabric that is designed for that, it's thick fabric which is clearly intended to lie flat.

It's a shame because I like the idea of the dress, the brilliant white, the simplicity, the neckline. And she is, unsurprisingly as she was a Hollywood actress, the most beautiful of the brides by some way (my opinion ). But that dress just doesn't fit right.

HelenaWilson · 07/06/2026 14:39

Katharine, the late Duchess of Kent, in 1961. I really like that neckline on her, because she had a lovely neck and jawline, and the look was enhanced with the simple necklace.

I love Eugenie’s. The sleeves look a bit stiff but the v back and the way the fabric is folded are exquisite. The fact that she wanted to make a point of showing her scoliosis surgery scar is such a powerful thing. She looked genuinely delighted too.
Kate’s was lovely though her pointy bionic boobs weren’t great. Meghan’s could have been gorgeous but the fit was a mess - her evening look was flawless though.

Marina of Greece, the previous Duchess of Kent, mother of the present Duke, in 1934.

Exactly this! I would love to see that dress fitted properly

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 07/06/2026 15:12

I liked Sophie's wedding dress and have always though it was a lovely touch that Edward designed her wedding jewellery.

Eugenie’s is my favourite. I also liked Meghan’s as I felt the boat neck was really elegant on her. Beatrice’s was gorgeously feminine and really suited her.

Sophie’s I thought was really nice and very 90s. Quite liked Zara’s although it didn’t give a Royal bride vibe but I like to think that she probably didn’t want that vibe anyway!

I wasn’t really a fan of Kate’s and thought that poor Diana’s was so huge and overdone it swamped her.

I also thought Camilla’s duck egg blue outfit was gorgeous and the way her headdress swept across was 👌.

StartupRepair · 07/06/2026 15:22

Mette marit of Norway. Just stunning.

Marmaladeaddict · 07/06/2026 07:30

I loved Zara’s dress, and also Fergies. I agree the latter is very dated now. Hated Diana’s dress which swamped her and was just a frightful over the top disaster. It didn’t suit her or play to her best features at all.

Meghans dress did look like an over starched sheet and I didn’t like it. The best were Eugenie’s and Beatrice’s dress in more recent times. Eugenie looked fantastic. I didn’t like Harriet dress at all. Honestly can’t understand why she went for it. Far too much lace, didn’t like the neck and the veil was far too long. Tiara looked odd too.

I also didn’t like Kate’s dress at all.
pointy breasts and far too much lace.

I hated the pointy breasts on Kate's dress. Wasn't it a Madonna garment that had had similar?

PinkMagpie · 07/06/2026 15:31

I think Kate’s really became more than the sum of its parts. It became about how she wore it and she just looks stunning

Most inappropriate - none are inappropriate
Worst tiara - Princess Anne

Personally I find Catherines dull and predictable and while many will call it classic for me its run of the mill. I really like Meghans dress though I do agree it could have done with a bit better tayloring at the top.

I will always have a soft apot for Queen Alexandras dress huge and full of flowers.

ErrolTheDragon · 07/06/2026 15:44

Princess Anne’s wedding was perhaps the first of the big televised ‘royal weddings’ (mum upgraded our B&W Radio Rentals TV to colour for it) - and to my mind her dress remains the most ‘royal’ of them all. Elegant and powerful for a strong woman.

StrawberryWasp · 07/06/2026 15:52

I was 10 at the time and hated Diana's dress. It just seemed like so much fabric and flounce that I couldn't actually see the dress.

I also thought Diana didn't look very special herself on the day. She just looked the same as she always looked but in a ball of crumpled silk.

Young me adored Fergie's dress though. It had that fitted bodice with a full skirt that felt princessy to me. It was also shiny and twinkly. Fergie also radiant and so happy. She seemed like the princess bride I'd imagined in the 1980s.

ginasevern · 07/06/2026 15:52

Grace Kelly's wedding dress was the best. Kate Middleton's was very similar. Diana's dress was an abomination, even by the standards of the early 80's. None of my peer group (all around Diana's age) liked the dress. It also creased to buggery on the day, which was a school boy error on the part of the designers.

HelenaWilson · 07/06/2026 15:54

I think the embroidery and lace applique on Catherine's dress and train are what makes them different, and unfortunately they don't show on most photographs.I

ETA I liked Anne's dress at the time, and I think it hasn't dated as much as some others.
