I wonder if KC3 invited the whole family over and arranged for them all to be in carriages at Ascot or on a balcony etc at BP for Trooping of the colour etc - with their cousins would MM agree and ‘release’ the DCs faces?

They would need to be in a carriage that went ahead of the Wales family though. And possibly ahead of the King and Queen...

Veterans' Affairs Minister Matt Keogh:
"As part of establishing the new Veterans' and Families Wellbeing Agency, we're transitioning funding for broader wellbeing support to the veteran community to that new agency," Mr Keogh said.
"As we transition in order to maintain continuity and certainty of support services for our veteran community, we're providing another three years of funding to Invictus Australia."

So maybe Invictus Australia are being funded to develop and launch their own better-value-all-round games for the ANZAC and Commonwealth pacific nations like Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands & Tonga?

I've thought for a while that the Invictus model is a dud. It's financially and politically incontinent, and after Birmingham it needs to re-group (without Harry). You can't base a successful games (or song contest) on the participation of nations at odds with each other or their allies, or under censure by the UN or sizeable parts of the host nation or participating nations. The old orders are changing. And the Invictus grift's under a harsh spotlight.

These ANZAC and Pacific nations maintain historical defense and ceremonial ties to the British military and 'the Crown', with their armies, navies and air defences often operating under shared Commonwealth training regimes and exercises. It works in my head to have regional Invictus Games. Maybe a Global South one too, every few years. Think of the air miles saved!

bluegreygreen · 09/06/2026 13:53

It's a good thought.

Invictus Germany already seems to be doing its own thing, with its Invictus Germany Sports Festival (held 2024 and to be held again this summer).

I have wondered for a while if countries would move to focusing on the local/regional veteran support aspect (with or without local games events), and then feed in to the international games that are already organised via Paralympics.

Edit to add: I think for Germany the impulse to do something different came from the Dusseldorf games. Perhaps Birmingham will be the trigger for the UK, or others?

It's from this bollocks article in Radar online. Apparently the Palace and RAVEC should intervene on local authority planning decisions to avoid Harry getting hurt feelings. 🙄

https://archive.is/Em77J

I appreciate Radar online is probably American and trying to shit stir for clicks, but even so. Surely even they can see the colossal reach in equating a local planning decision, which probably many many wealthy people encounter, with the decisions of RAVEC who make decisions based on data from the security services?

I really hope it's clickbait because if Harry really said this he'd even further over the reason event horizon than I thought.

Beaker has more hair! 🤣

That closer on line article is hilarious in so many ways. They gave up Frogmore cottage. By choice. If they wanted to come back for a private , private family visit do they not think there are enough cottages on the Sandringham or Balmoral estate they could be put up in, within the private estate cordon. This really isn't the RF being petty IMHO . Plenty of people are complaining about rents etc on the Crown Estate . This isn't H&M's personal property - they were given it as a home and they chose to leave. I'd love to know where the "receipts" are for this story because I'm just verging on believing even H wouldn't take a house he no longer has an interest in and gave up voluntarily is now becoming a slight on his wife.
On the other hand he does have form for "slights".

Who knows with H - and I think that's part of his problem. He has become to many the boy who cried wolf.

Harry was offered apartments in Buckingham Palace and St James' palace but turned them down - preferring to stay at Soho House or hotels - which you would think would be less secure than apartments inside the royal security cordon.

The problem is that Meghan appears to see house size as an indicator of her VIP status - Nottingham cottage was an insulting "frat house", 5 bed Frogmore cottage was much less than she thought she deserved ... she wanted the big Montecito McMansion.

I guess the dismantling of Frogmore indicates the finality of their estrangement. I think Harry always assumed he could just just return whenever he wanted but the fact the house is being divided into smaller units, and the Soho House inspired decor is being ripped out is maybe driving home his reduced status.

However, I'm not sure what they expected. Did they think the house would be kept unchanged indefinitely as a museum to them? They moved in in 2019 and only lived there for a few months before they quit the royal family. They spent a few days there in 2022 and Eugenie rented it for a few weeks - but otherwise it has stood empty for 6 years. With the current scrutiny of the Crown Estates it just wasn't viable to keep it empty.

Yes, proof positive that it was never really about security (along with all the other examples, of course).

Agree re Frogmore. The Sussexes gave up their lease in March 2023. The Crown Estate could (and probably should) have done something with it any time after that.

noonames · 09/06/2026 15:53

It’s going to be an interesting few weeks. Who will turn up at the Invictus events.. If England do well in the men’s World Cup William will no doubt be at a match or two, which will reignite the will they won’t they see each other question. (I don’t believe they will.) There are the usual summer appearances at Trooping, Ascot, Wimbledon, garden parties. Plus George’s birthday is soonish I think, and presumably they will be announcing where he’s going to senior school. I wonder if Harry will have anything to say about that… maybe something about the evils of boarding? Then Balmoral later in the summer and some fuss around George’s first day I expect. And Taylor Swift’s wedding in there at some point?!

I think Radar Online do like to shit stir. But this also leans into Harry’s silly contention that the King can intervene in anything, he just won’t for H&M. These are people who are triggered by a jacket, get ptsd from the Charles doing his job (the state visit to the US), and feel hugely insulted that a property they haven’t lived in for 6 years is being converted back to its original use. I think they breached the reason event horizon (great phrase) and entered the black hole of crazy quite some time ago.

MrsLeonFarrell · 09/06/2026 16:13

MSN is reporting that Harry is demanding "enhanced security" if his children visit Balmoral. Is he actually saying that the security surrounding the Head of State is not sufficient for 2 children of a minor royal and a jam maker?

SqueakyDinosaur · 09/06/2026 16:14

I was wondering if the Waleses might make an appearance at Taylor Swift's wedding. That would be one in the eye for Montecito, as TS turned down the handwritten invitation to be a guest on Archetypes.

I’m really hoping so. William did imply he was hoping for an invite.
Better still Charlotte as bridesmaid! 🙏🤞🙏🤞🙏
Imagine. I think Meghan would probably self combust. 😂

Of course not!
Plus he might want to do a bit of random door knocking around Ballater 🙄

Most people in the Ballater area are loyal to the RF so I can’t see H getting a good reaction if he thinks he can rock up there !

bluegreygreen · 09/06/2026 16:42

Imagine someone innocently opening their door to see Harry there 😀

Quite, I was just referring to when he was in London for the court case and was caught on Ring doorbells door knocking random houses!

We would probably get a story about how meghan was actually asked to be maid of honour but turned it down so as not to take the limelight off of Taylor

I would have thought the benefit of using an influencer would be for her to collaborate and sell As ever in her own style, but from the article it sounds like it is scripted very like the original.

Who puts croissants on an afternoon tea?! And those sandwiches are far too chunky.

I'm going to predict that W & K won't go to TS's wedding but will post a congratulations message on social media.
