It is a bit mind-boggling that Peter Phillips and Autumn Kelly apparently didn't think ever to mention that they were expecting Hello! photographer(s) and a writer(s) at the wedding reception, having done a lucrative deal allowing publication of said photos in an extensive spread. And as you say, @IcedPurple, very odd that these Hello! people weren't checked out.
Did Peter Phillips downplay it, do you think @JSMill? 'One or two dignified photographs, granny, that's all.' Were people further misled at the reception? 'They'll be finished up soon - we just want some shots for our album.'
Even at my family events, that level of intrusion by a photographer would be noticed and stopped. But all this was ok with the royal family 'privately' in attandance, with their protection officers? Really makes you wonder how Peter Phillips pulled it off.
I'd also wonder why someone as apparently meticulous as Princess Anne didn't think to ask about the photographer's contract and the payment amount. A magazine didn't hand over half a million quid back then for a few tasteful photos.
But most of all, it says to me that Peter knew that whatever he did, after a routine telling-off he would be forgiven by granny and mama. And probably the others. And that cash money was more necessary to him that protecting their feelings and their blushes. Maybe that explains Anne's less-than-optimal and unphotogenic outfit for this wedding. And Sarah Chatto's and her daughter's. Could be a big F* You to Peter.
