More on Invictus politics.
Overnight insomnia led to me reading some pretty intelligent discussion on Reddit (!) about the ‘philanthropic industrial complex’ (aka the philanthropy industry), and its relationship with corporate and celeb reputations, government funding, tax breaks, eco-washing etc.
Up till the local elections a few days ago, it was expected that Shabana Masood and Yvette Cooper (the former a Birmingham MP), who are respectively Home and Foreign Secretaries, would make the Labour government bail out Invictus with £££. There seemed to be a feeling that they were in Harry’s pocket, paying for his Ukraine trip, making sure Morgan MacSweeney was there, smoothing H’s way for their own political reasons.
Things have now changed, and are very febrile for Labour not just in Birmingham but for the Labour government and Party in general. These are troubled times for us in the UK. The King is in the ascendant as a perceived stabilising force, I suspect (whether I like it or not!)
This is why I find Misan Harriman’s perceived criticism of Reform voters to be interesting timing - and I include the appearance of the over-egged MailOnline story in that.
