Google-assisted enquiries suggest akin to posh season ticket for five years? Sounds expensive!

Basically as you say. They get two tickets for every day of the championships for however long the debenture lasts. Admission to the super posh dining areas. Top seats obviously. They can be resold or gifted unlike ordinary seats obtained through the public ballot. One year at a village fundraising auction the Lord and Lady of the manor donated tickets. As it happened I had obtained excellent tickets for the men’s semifinal day that year which were better than whichever day the proffered debenture tickets were for.

ShamedBySiri · 22/03/2026 14:57

I did once read some investment report that claimed you could make a decent profit from a debenture. Of course you’d have to sell all the best days rather than enjoying it yourself.

Nor me 😭

I was saying to someone the other day I know no one who got tickets in the ballet this year - I'm in a tennis club (as are they - a different one) and normally we know a number of people between us.

I think they are much harder to obtain now the ballot is online. Whether due to more applications or easier for some to game the system I don’t know.

Previously you had to go to the trouble of posting in a stamped addressed envelope between the end of the championships and the end of the year.
I got tickets several times. One year I had done an SAE to the in-laws to up my chances. Sometime later FiL said to me “I got something from Wimbledon addressed to you. I threw it away” 🙄
And one year I opened my letter and saw the date was Men’s final day. I nearly exploded with excitement before I started calculating the resale value. Then I noticed it was for court number 1 whatever they have on at the same time. Veterans or juniors or something. Anyway I didn’t fancy being next door to the action, hearing the crowd roar and not seeing it. Sitting in front of the TV much more comfortable than on Henman hill/Murray mount.

@ShamedBySiri your ILs sound as lovely as mine!

What are we calling it these days? Draper's Dun? Norrie's Knoll? Raducanu Ridge? Smile I'd love a MN day out to Centre Court or the Hill, and we'd have a proper picnic.

Re the H&M&C stuff, I used to think that the Wimbledon hand-holding story was nuts, too, but now I don't. And I agree that if you look closely at the start of the footage of the 'Fab Four' coming on stage for the Royal Foundation Forum, you can see Catherine avoiding M's hand/arm.

M then came out with this gobshite to show off her superior credentials ...

"You’ll often hear people say – ‘well you are helping people find their voices’ – and I fundamentally disagree with that because women don’t need to find a voice. They have a voice, they need to feel empowered to use it and people need to be encouraged to listen."

... which, as ever, fundamentally doesn't make sense.

All fake.

I was mildly surprised to find dried flower sprinkles in biggish bags at my local Indian food shop. £2.

I’m now wondering whether I could elevate them to turn a profit. Perhaps with a bought title? Would a ladyship suffice, do you think?

That quote sounds like it's straight from "The Office"

"People always say; David you're such a wise man. Thank you for the opportunity, David"

Duchess of Sussex trademarks As Ever brand in Australia before visit

The 'intimate gala' is apparently still on...

It's turning into a bit of a Tupperware party isn't it ?

It just sounds like the trademark list she initially applied for ARO, and then As ever. This massive range, yet (so far) just the UPF white label goods released.

Do you have a young daughter to involve in 'aspirational working mum' images?

And a sun drenched garden?

Mind you, there might be mileage in a UK parody version 😁

We bought (very nice) carrot cake slices at an English Heritage tea room yesterday - decorated with flower sprinkles. Pretty enough, but not particularly exclusive.

PigglyWigglyOhYeah · 23/03/2026 11:33

But did you feel it had been elevated, @StillSpartacus ?

I have a lovely local cafe which uses dried petals on icing. But the ones they use are less dried up than the images I see of Meghan's sprinkles.

StillSpartacus · 23/03/2026 15:34

It was good cake to be fair, but I think the only thing being elevated is my weight. Grin

Snidely smiling at Harry behind her hair too while Catherine was speaking. It amazes me the number of people who fall for someone with a convincing/strong voice (the voice of a trained actor, in this case), rather than the actual words they are saying and whether they hold any substance or relevance - they absolutely did not in the context of this panel, and she's spouted the same tired lines ever since whilst claiming she herself is the silenced one. Hollywood is a bullshitter's world.

Ooh Boudicca - lucky you. I’m green. Do you know which day?
