Throughout history there's always been some sort of gossip about the legitimacy of children and or marriages in the Royal Family.

Queen Mother - Her mother wasn't actually her birth mother it was the cook. Elizabeth and Margaret were conceived through some primitive IVF as she preferred gin and chocolate to sex.

That's not even going that far back and only a small collection as there are many more small conspiracies within these conspiracies. It's unlikely any of these are true except maybe the chocolate I'm sure it was fabulous quality, that I get,

Most of that is malicious gossip. Diana hadn’t even met Hewitt when Harry was conceived.
No evidence the cook was the QM’s mother at all
No evidence about the way her children were conceived.
No evidence the Queen had an affair or Andrew wasn’t PP’s child either.

I knew someone who moved in the same circles and she was absolutely adamant that Philip was serially unfaithful. This was after Malta though.

That's why I said gossip and I didn't believe it. My point being people have been making up stories about Royals forever. I don't believe Queen Victoria had an affair either.

For all we know the Queen & PP had a tacit ‘agreement’. It’s not as if infidelity unusual in their circles..

How old are you? , considerably younger I assume than your work colleague who obviously has longevity if he worked in Malta with Philip who was 90 odd when he died!

If you mean with John Brown, then she wouldn't have been 'having an affair' as she was widowed by then, and he was unmarried. And historians who think that the two did have a sexual relationship speculate that, as Scottish marriage customs were far looser, they possibly had an 'irregular' marriage. Obviously we don't know for sure, but there's actually quite a lot of evidence they had an intensely attached and romantic, if not actually sexual, relationship for the best part of 20 years -- we know that she asked for mementoes of him as well as Albert to be placed in her coffin after death, that contemporary politicans in her cabinet were horrified at her indiscretions with him, that her advisors talked her out of publishing a memoir about him after his death, that her daughters and early biographers destroyed much of her correspondence to and about him to preserve a dignified asexual image of the monarch.

Maybe the late queen and PP had an open marriage, or maybe he had affairs, maybe she did, maybe they were faithful. No one really knows what goes on behind closed doors.
