Does anyone know why Sarah Ferguson kept living with him when they divorced decades ago?

I think it’s because they never intended to get divorced.

They both liked the lifestyle they had as Duke and Duchess, and both enjoyed their affairs. It’s pretty standard in that world.

They only announced their separation after the photos of her and Steve Wyatt came out. So it had to be done, especially as the photos showed him with one of her daughters. She moved out and I honestly think they’d have done the whole “we’ve reconciled thing” a short time later had the toe sucking photos not come out later that year (and she was at Balmoral when that happened - so still included).

Had Prince Philip not lived as long as he had I think they’d have re-married years ago. She was very clearly seen by QEII as Andrew’s partner given her placement at QEII’s funeral. And her positioning with Andrew at King Constantine’s memorial service (the one William had to bail out on last minute - we now know why but didn’t at the time) shows the other RF’s the British royals are close with considered her his partner.

Interesting - the only major royal event she wasn't invited to was William and Kate's wedding.

I hope Peter Mandelson is next on the list. Obviously the mistreatment, abuse and untold horrors against women is beyond appalling but selling your country for cash for your own use is right up there for me too. So many self-serving men in this revolting saga.

Also, how the fuck is no one being arrested in the US? This still boggles my mind. There is currently only one person in jail for this whole sorry tale and that is a woman!!!!!

I mean the thing is no one has been arrested for the sex offences. He has been arrested for passing confidential papers to Epstein. So has Mandleson. Both of them were passing on information to Epstein. AMW it seems had also been passing documents on to other people, so the Epstein links and the survivors of the sex trafficking have forced documents into the open, but our State ( RF, Government) have covered up for AMW in relation to the offence he has been arrested for. Without the survivors, the Epstein files would not have been released, but its almost seems incidental that there was evidence in there that he was also committing misconduct in a public office. Without the sex offences, our government, our courts our police and our RF would have been more than happy to cover up.

NewGoldFox · 19/02/2026 11:19

It’s great the police are at least trying to hold him accountable for his wrongdoing but I’ve not got much faith he won’t be able to slither out of trouble.
Really hope that the monarchy is defunded after this though.

PrincessScarlett · 19/02/2026 11:21

Andrew must be extremely thick if he doesn't know what trafficking is. There are messages between him and Epstein talking about Virginia being flown to the UK for him and another girl was discussed as well. Andrew didn't meet these girls of his own accord out and about or on a dating app. They were sent to him for sex.

Mapletree1985 · 19/02/2026 11:24

Best birthday present he could get.

The handy 'traitors gate' is still there for access from the river. Shame he's not still at Windsor. We could have all stood along the banks of the Thames!

Edited

They were never ever going to have the spectacle of Andrew being arrested at Windsor, they would always have got him out to some place less connected. And Charles and William will have known this was coming, in fact I think they knew from when they stripped his titles and got him out, and so did he, hence no fight. They’ve all known for sometime. The police were just getting their ducks in a row, and I would assume Starmer supported it being held and done in Norfolk and away from Windsor.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 19/02/2026 11:27

If I remember correctly Burrell was charged with stealing personal items from Diana’s estate. As William and Harry’s other parent KC would have been in a position to retract the allegations. I can imagine a father not wanting his grieving sons to have their dead mother’s dirty laundry exposed in court and the press

Yes you remember correctly, Kirschcherries, and I can well imagine caring about the boys as an excuse to be used, except it all gets a bit spoiled when we consider what else this family have put their children through and that they clearly couldn't affford Burrell entering a witness box - hence QEII's ridiculous claim about "remembering a conversation"

It's a different topic of course, the the relevance here is surely that they've already been seen to interfere with an investigation and may well do so again

As for the PP's comment about there being a big meeting at Windsor on Tuesday ... I bet there was!! Hmm

Nowimhereandimlost · 19/02/2026 11:27

I guess they'll just have to post all his birthday cards to prison?

Nah he'll be back home for birthday cake before we know it.

Nobody is ever put in a cell with others in police stations in the UK. 🤣.

There are no sherrifs or monetary bail either in case your only point of reference for legal matters is US tv.

The poster didn’t say WITH other people. The post said LIKE other people.

Frenchfrychic · 19/02/2026 11:29

I’d also add they will have made sure this is water tight before they arrested, there is no way they’d have this public spectacle on a whim and as said, Starmer will be the final sign off. Charles will also be fully aware of what’s being planned, when, and exactly why, what evidence.

he will be released, likely on pre charge bail.

i strongly suspect this whole story will have a very sad ending.

At one point, and he even mentioned it in his lying interview, he was representing the NSPCC and said he 'knew how to spot' child sex abuse. Yet he didnt notice very young girls giving 'massages' just wandering around? The RF all knew. They did nothing.
As an aside, Im watching BBC news. Tessa Dunlop is my new hero.. She is really going for it. And she is a Monarchist and Royal historian. She is really saying what I want to say. Good for her. I hope she is broadcast all over the BBC news.

A horrific outcome would be if they simply charge him for wrongdoing in public office, eg passing on some info during his days as trade envoy. Then he essentially gets trialled and punished for eyes of the public but it's a slap on the wrist compared to the other crimes and trafficking.

A conspiracy side thinks this may have been previously agreed upon, or the best solution Charles could come up with. He gets arrested for a minor white collar crime and the rest is just glossed over. One can only hope that once things get to a court of law, someone in there has a sense of justice and common sense and does their best to bash out all the other charges.

Edited

That's not a minor white collar crime, it's potentially treason.

Yeah I’m not sure the royal family all knew at the time and I don’t think it’s advisable to make that accusation,

aBuffetofunreasonableness · 19/02/2026 11:32

Thank you everyone for replying to my question about Sarah F., i laughed at the words toe sucking 😀 (and 🤢)

Depends what you mean by "sad".

If that nasty piece of shite gets a long prison sentence, I'd be very happy.
If he gets away with his various alleged offences, I'd be sad.

Emotionalsupporttissue · 19/02/2026 11:33

I wonder if anyone else in the family will be interviewed as a witness to any of this.

Namingbaba · 19/02/2026 11:34

I’m not sure this would have happened if the Queen was still alive.

I’m still surprised but pleasantly so. I thought he wasn’t going to face any charges. I hope Mandelson is next.

It is crazy that there haven’t been arrests due to trafficking of the women/girls. I guess it’s a simpler charge to go after these type of charges.

Doseofreality · 19/02/2026 11:34

I do hope they do a special episode of 24 Hours In Police Custody for this!

MargoLivebetter · 19/02/2026 11:36

@Doseofreality that really made me chuckle!

JustAnotherWhinger · 19/02/2026 11:36

I hope the BBC and co make it well known that this isn’t a minor charge (if he ends up being charged and Mandleson too as presumably he’s next).

Misconduct in a public office is a serious offence that carries hefty sentences.

It’s also opening up pretty much everyone in a public office to scrutiny - which is great.

My DS said this earlier - can you imagine the crew filming a 24 hours if they rocked up with AMW 😂
