Nah he'll be back home for birthday cake before we know it.

We don't know that he isn't still at home, PrincessScarlett

I believe there's such a thing as house arrest in the UK, and for all the fantasies about him being stuck in a cell, that would surprise me enormously

MO0N · 19/02/2026 11:42

in common with other posters I think there's a strong chance it's a performance to take the heat off of the royal family.
I think they see us, their subjects as akin to gullible children who will be placated by the spectacle of him being arrested on his birthday.

PrincessScarlett · 19/02/2026 11:43

Very true @Puzzledandpissedoff

That Surrey Police is investigating does not mean that much, they're pretty corrupt, like just about every police force. They have a tendency to 'investigate' and you sit back and relax, thinking, okay, they're on it. Time passes and nothing comes of it, 'not enough evidence to proceed' but the story has died down by then, that's the idea.

They do this with allegations against care homes for the elderly. I took a story about Firtree House Nursing Home in Banstead to the press, the police said they were 'investigating' but they never phoned me!

Years ago there was a story about historical sexual abuse in a Banstead care home in Firtree Road (I happened upon it while Googling my own story at a different care home in that road), you can find it on the net still probably. Victims were encouraged to contact a legal firm with allegations. This and some of Savile's goings-on in a Nork young people's home were also a thing, but nothing has come of it and one suspects people were encouraged to come forward so they could keep tabs on the story and delete any relevant files, to contain it.

Lord Mountbatten was accused of sexually abusing kids in a Northern Ireland care home, it is documented in Andrew Lownie's biography some years ago, 20 pages is devoted to it. Lownie did the recent bombshell account of the Duke and Duchess. The press has largely ignored the stuff on Mountbatten and there's been no investigation - admittedly this took place over half a century ago.

(I wrongly posted this earlier on another Andrew thread, sorry for the duplication, I can't delete the other one.)

And Mandelson? Or is he too connected to those currently in power? If they arrest one, they need to arrest the other too?

I was just thinking that. How come one and not the other?

Does anyone know why Sarah Ferguson kept living with him when they divorced decades ago?

Access to ££££££s facilitated by him. She is completely financially incontinent.

Fabulous! I hope he doesn’t get bail, I hope he rots!

I hope he does get bail and doesn't get to hide away in prison

At one point, and he even mentioned it in his lying interview, he was representing the NSPCC and said he 'knew how to spot' child sex abuse. Yet he didnt notice very young girls giving 'massages' just wandering around? The RF all knew. They did nothing.
As an aside, Im watching BBC news. Tessa Dunlop is my new hero.. She is really going for it. And she is a Monarchist and Royal historian. She is really saying what I want to say. Good for her. I hope she is broadcast all over the BBC news.

I’ve really noticed Tessa Dunlop speaking up for the victims in particular and not being afraid to address this head on, unlike some of the male commentators who still don’t get it.

Statement from Virginia Giuffre’s family:

“Our broken hearts have been lifted by the news that no one is above the law, not even royalty... He was never a prince. For survivors, everywhere, Virginia did this for you.”

Sky reporter saying they’ve seen footage of him being driven away from his “cottage” by police officers early this morning. I wonder if he was allowed to take his teddy bears…

Its only for misconduct in a public office

He is in custody.

Nice!!

There is no ‘only’ about it! It’s an extremely serious offence.

Anyone thinking it’s a slap-on-the-wrist misdemeanour is woefully ill-informed.

GnomeDePlume · 19/02/2026 11:55

DH has suggested this is how AMW is solving his domestic servant problem. At least if he gets banged up he will get his food cooked and laundry done.

I presume PM is next on the list.

ElevensesKing · 19/02/2026 12:01

The Epstein charges will take longer to formulate and arrest him for but the misconduct in office is easier to prove. Arresting him for this will make it harder for him to leave the country like his ex wife has done.

This isn't the end of it, it'll take them time to fit the jigsaw pieces together. I suspect a lot of high profile people are panicking atm as to who will be next.

Roadtripwithpretzels · 19/02/2026 12:01

And to be fair, I know he isn’t popular atm, but Keir Starmer paved the way for this by saying that AMW should be investigated, something that apparently the Palace was not pleased about.

Thank you everyone for replying to my question about Sarah F., i laughed at the words toe sucking 😀 (and 🤢)

It is both 😂 and 🤢.

I always found it interesting that John Bryan tried to get an injunction on the photos being published, but it failed (he claims because Buckingham palace didn’t back it). Nowadays the papers are much less likely to buy photos from foreign photographers - post Diana, but pre social media we’d likely never have seen these pics in the same way we didn’t see topless pics of Kate hit the papers here when that erupted in France a few years back.

Bryan and Fergie both got compensation from Paris match, but by then the damage had been completely done.

I think the only refers to wishing he'd face justice for using trafficked women and girls. Crimes that will have destroyed many lives.

Middlemarch123 · 19/02/2026 12:04

The live feed in The Guardian mentions that Misconduct in a Public Office, carries up to life imprisonment. They refer to the CPS legislation.

TheKittenswithMittens · 19/02/2026 12:05

Presumably he will "no comment" his way through the interview. Then what?

Statement from the King, copied from BBC website

"I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office.

What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities.

In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation.

Let me state clearly: the law must take its course.

As this process continues, it would not be right for me to comment further on this matter.

Meanwhile, my family and I will continue in our duty and service to you all. "Charles R.

I don't think he could actually say anything more now this is a legal process.

Presumably he will "no comment" his way through the interview. Then what?

I don’t know that he has the calmness to do that. Even if he’s advised to do that I think he’s the type to snap and give a “no, what happened is…” type answer.

Emily Maitliss wasn’t pushing like a police officer will and he was getting irritated and ended up saying far more than he obviously meant to (and he clearly didn’t think through the repercussions of his words).

Also he genuinely thinks he has done nothing wrong. He will continue to justify himself whilst digging himself into deeper trouble like he did with Matlis. It's sort of fascinating to watch such delusion and self belief.

Yes I don’t think he can say more, he can only give support and effectively distance himself.

Time to get rid of the royals

Emotionalsupporttissue · 19/02/2026 12:10

For MIAPO does there have to be proven damage done to the UK, so loss of business / financial impact ? Like if someone is accused of defamation, there has to be proof of actual damage done to their business for eg. (Not sure of the legal words )
