The royal family

How come William chose to ignore the massive elephant in the room and no one challenged him on it?

Prince William spoke about the very important subject of mh yesterday on Radio One and while it’s a subject that should be highlighted, does no one else think that his credibility on this issue has now been damaged by the AMW case?

He may not have been personally responsible for the alleged cover up, and he may well loathe Uncle Andrew, but he is still a central player in the institution that helped to pay off and cover up the voices of AMW’s alleged victims? Virginia Giuffre took her own life fhs! He can’t just ignore it!

To me this interview came across as incredibly unintelligent and insensitive in current circumstances. And proof that William himself just doesn’t “get it”.

Why on earth did he not say that in the light of current circumstances and out of respect for victims; the interview couldn’t go ahead?

Or why did his new ex crisis manager PR person not advise this?

And why was he allowed to sit there by the BBC and not address this?

And what about the mh of the Palace staff who have suffered because of AMW’s boorish and inappropriate behaviour for years? The nanny who allegedly left because of AMW being inappropriate and the policeman whose arm was hurt by AMW’s speeding at Windsor? The maids who were screamed at? What about the mental health of the police protection offices who quite recently were, according to Lownie, reminded about their NDAs and the safety of their pensions if they spoke out?

I don’t think it’s good enough any longer for a senior member of the RF to sit there and say yet again in a rather generic way “we all need to talk about our mental health” while ignoring what their own institution has covered up for years and is still allegedly trying to suppress?

And the BBC should hold some accountability about this too!

Harry and Meghan’s decision to leave is looking more sensible by the day.

I bet Meghan was horrified by what went on behind closed doors, and how things were dealt with. I wouldn’t want my kids growing up in that cesspit either.

Gonefishingithink · 21/02/2026 08:06

She’s chosen a different cesspit that’s all. Selling access to herself and her husband using their connections to the ‘Institution’ they purport to despise. Trying desperately to get on the celebrity circuit earning megabucks for doing nothing of substance. Engineering fake Royal tours to dodgy countries . Yes, she’s well out of it.

So we’re in Shroedinger's Royal territory? Charles was apparently very opposed to Andrew becoming a Trade Envoy, and thought he was entirely unsuitable for the job. He also knew that a significant chunk of money had been paid to buy Virginia Giuffre’s silence. But he also didn’t know anything about his brother’s misdemeanors. William is a hard working royal preparing, in the not too distant future to be king and presumably meeting with officials and reading reports and being briefed. But he knew nothing about what his uncle was up to. Because that’s what families are like.

😂😂

You think he ‘didn’t know anything about his brothers misdemeanours?’. Never underestimate the power of denial….

The King was mentored by a pedophile. And the Royal family let Jimmy Savile into their homes on a regular basis. And you think they didn’t know what he did? Of course they did. Because the police knew.

A lot of people are going to have to let go of this idea that the royals are any kind of role model to anyone.

I have definitely gone off the monarchy but i do feel sorrry for William. I think he is probably a decent bloke trying to do his duty. I think we should cut him some slack. He cant help the position he finds himself in. All he could do if it became too much is abdicate and try to lead a normal life but who would take his place. He's been through so much.

I think a lot of our problems stem from cutting too much slack for too many members of the royal family. QE2 she's the nations granny cut her some slack, she's old. Charles he's waited so long for this job cut him some slack. William every excuse imaginable.
As for wanting proof that he is lazy you only have to look at the list of engagements that a 76 year old man with ongoing cancer treatment does, compared to a fit healthy 42 year old. About a third. The school run excuse is only going to last so long especially when boarding school kicks in. And him being shy...really?!

I bet she was and possibly from personal knowledge judging by some of the photos out there? I think Andrew isn't the only one sweating right now.

William was fully in on the Andrew rehabilitation

It's amusing that you copy in the very photo that is touted in the press as "the moment that said it all about William and his feelings towards Andrew". Isn't it funny how a fleeting image can give such differing opinions? People are continuously bleating on here about how an image of Harry looking sullen says nothing but here you go.

Daygloboo · 21/02/2026 02:04

I think he is probably shy and prefers privacy, not because he is up to something but just because he's an introvert. He probably isnt very good 'king material' actually. I think kate props him up. I feel a bit sorry for both of them. He should probably abdicate.

Do you know the meaning of the word abdicate?

wtf does this have to do with proof of william engaging with Andrew’s rehabilitation

I was commenting on a previous post so maybe address that to the previous poster. Oh was that you? Why are you asking yourself a question about the relevance of your post?

At that funeral. William and Kate both turned around to Sarah Ferguson with Andrew next to her, spoke with Sarah and obviously said something funny as they all smiled and laughed. If William couldn’t stand them, why would he engage like that, and publicly.

Sorry I don't click on random links.

It’s not random, it’s YouTube and it clearly shows what I said it did. Go to YouTube yourself, look up RoyalreporterLydia #PrinceWilliam and you’ll find the clip.

Don't tell me it didn’t happen when it did.

PistachioTiramisu · 21/02/2026 09:17

I am genuinely interested in what you people who would do away with the monarchy would put in its place and would you think would happen. Do you imagine that all the castles, houses, jewels, art, priceless artifacts would be sold to the highest bidder and the proceeds divided equally between all the people living in this country? And what of the person who would be elected to be Head of State - because there has to be one!? Who would you choose - a politician, a reality star, a random Joe Bloggs? Of course the minute you elect someone to be Head of State you set them apart to receive the trappings of office and preference, so you are back to square one! No - keep the monarchy - I think William and Kate will do very well - and I respect them for how they conduct themselves.

Thanks for that. I hadn’t seen it before. You would think William and Kate would have more sense than to chat and laugh with Fergie and Andrew.

@berthasbloomers You should be apologising to @WhyCantISleepAgainTonight because the YouTube clip shows William and Kate doing exactly what the poster said it did, which you said never happened.

I’m in two minds, he personally though hasn’t helped or even been amicable with Andrew.

He has definitely been amicable that’s for sure! The media just like to play it down as William is the one who’s on the right side of the press.

Having said that being amicable isn’t a crime. William is not a child and hasn’t been for at least the last 20 years. He does bear some responsibility in all of this as he has chosen to stay silent over the years.

They would be elected and we could change them through voting so nothing like being back to square one. I keep seeing this argument trotted out but it’s a poor one.

Yes he did. The clip is on YouTube.

Watching the clip, you can see Sarah leans forward to engage with the couple - they don’t initiate conversation with her. William and Kate turn around and listen politely. Kate doesn’t appear to say anything (Sarah’s mouth keeps moving the whole time, so she is clearly still speaking) and turns back away from Sarah before she has finished speaking. William nods a couple of times while Sarah is speaking, says something as he smiles at her and he too turns back to the front.

It looks like two people with good manners dealing with an unwanted social interaction to me - acknowledging, listening, dismissing. Definitely not “all smiling and laughing together” as you suggest.

(And I don’t think any of the Royals are god like creatures. I have always thought they are human beings like you and me - something many posters give the impression they forget).

William chats to them. He says something and they all laugh, including Andrew. It doesn’t look good.

SimplyT · 21/02/2026 09:24

@berthasbloomers, don’t bother, I just looked, its the MOTHER of all stretch’s.

SF spots the camera and smiles, you can then almost see her mind clicking over, she looks Catherine up and down from the back, clearly looking for something to say to engage them, she then leans into the back of Catherine and William, over their shoulder, starts talking to them and they both turn around to face her, neither of them say a word to her, until William obviously says two words to cut the 3 second convo off, he turns around with a smirk, and Sarah started to laugh. he is just as likely to have told her to ‘Fuck Off’ !
