Another meaningless, weaselly statement from the RF this time the Prince & Princess of Wales - it reads as if it was rushed out by their new Crisis Manager between their latest skiing holiday and forthcoming Saudi trip.

We are told that they are 'deeply concerned by the continuing revelations' implying that they didn't have a clue before these 'revelations'. Does anyone really believe that to be true?

'Their thoughts remain focused on the victims'; convenient that they are focused there, rather than the abject failures of their own family members to conduct themselves decently and the RF's abysmal failure to act appropriately - they might have actually protected victims if they had acted differently, do they ever reflect on this? Any decent people care about the victims anyway, why should we be impressed by them saying that?

This statement is not even the barest minimum of what they should be doing. No apologies for their failures, no commitment to supporting enquiries and making all documentation available. Just more of the same weasel words we have come to expect from them.

I don’t disagree and I think this is where the hereditary aspect of monarchy is really shown up to be inadequate.

If an elected head of state was commenting, it would be from one source only, and would have much more clout for that reason,

Couldn’t agree more about your comments concerning the victims and no reference to the cover up but in the hidebound hierarchical structure of the monarchy, William probably isn’t allowed to say more to be fair. Anything else and he lands his father in it as there has been an obvious cover up for many years.

I’m not defending W, his statement is wholly inadequate, but when you get offices and press secretaries briefing against one another, what do you expect?

If AMW were my child, I would be advising him to stay put here. He’s not a criminal, although he’s proved himself an utter idiot lacking in any sort of self-awareness. I don’t think the US courts can force him to testify, and even were they to do so, he could say nothing.

Just as a matter of interest, how many posters in this forum would want all their e-mails going back twenty years or more making public? I know I wouldn’t, even if it’s just indiscretions or moans about friends or family members.

That’s not the point. Presumably your messages aren’t relevant for National Security.
As for him not being a criminal - he had sex with trafficked women / girls & passed on sensitive diplomatic papers to Epstein. That’s criminal in my book.

I realise that you were referring to William’s visit @NewAgeNewMe You said the royals are forced to do those visits . But Charles refused to meet trump even when trump was president

I agree with you @MidWayThruJanuary

When?

Ukisgaslit · 09/02/2026 14:01

2018

That’s an interesting point re having a dysfunctional family as head of state .

Instead of one clear message on any particular issue from a head of state , we have infighting , smearing each other in the media and jockeying for position .

Pathetic in normal circumstances .

Absolutely disgraceful when dealing with the Windsor cover up of sex trafficking and abused women

MidWayThruJanuary · 09/02/2026 14:17

But of course they completely forgot all about their principles last September.

Ukisgaslit · 09/02/2026 14:24

They do whatever they think will get the best best PR at any given moment
I wouldn’t be at all surprised if W and K were trumpers . William was like a puppy dog begging for scraps from Trump in Paris .

Good points

So, anything from the king yet? Are we to assume that he is not deeply concerned or centering the victims?

AreYouSureAskedNaomi · 09/02/2026 14:34

I have always wondered if the privilege and deference create corruption, lack of morals and poor judgement. Is it unavoidable, would it happen to anyone born into a family that has been in the throne for generations?

Or is it a Windsor family problem?

Ukisgaslit · 09/02/2026 14:44

@AreYouSureAskedNaomi

In light of Edward and William’s empty words Charles would be better saying nothing

We really did not need to hear from them at all . We know who and what they are and their statements are PR

I think it is a feature of Monarchy and the hereditary principle, if you look at the other European RF's too. They do seem more accountable to their Parliaments though. I think because absolute power corrupts, we need to have proper robust, independent scrutiny of the RF. We have nothing of the sort from our politicians, over decades. That needs to change, and change urgently and seriously. No more forelock tugging, no more giving in to demands to change legislation, no cover ups, open discussion in Parliament where everyone can hear and see.

Re Willams weasly worded desperate statement, its just not good enough, until their whole family look at their structures and systems, stop their staff threatening intelligence staff with NDA's and have a wholesale root and branch reform oif the structures surrounding them that allowed this to happen over decades, on Royal properties. If they cant control what happens on 23 fully staffed premises, don't have 23 fully staffed premises. If they cant keep family members under control then severely cut down the 'working Royal family' to the Monarch and the heir. They have caused this and they have all been complicit. No point trying to save your skin now, and pretending you didn't know what your pervy uncle was up to right under everyone's nose until it was revealed by US authorities. The family had the information about the alleged espionage sealed for 100 years. It is obvious that they are only now showing 'concern for the victims' because their PR has had to drill it in to them that they are going to have to pretend to care now in order to save their own skins.

It would be utterly unforgivable if the P of W were to be using this tragic situation to make himself look good, to get one over on his father by issuing this statement to highlight Charles' failure to take decisive action to address the matter (I agree that we should be getting one coherent message from him as Head of State). Or to distract from his latest skiing holiday, or the fact that he will be meeting with seriously dodgy people in Riyadh who have ordered assassinations.

Maybe it is true that William has just been overcome by a wave of empathy for the victims and moved to issue this statement now. To think that after all this time, despite being silent for years on the matter, it turns out that he was concerned and focused on the victims all along.

Take that up with the government @MidWayThruJanuary though id love to know what would happen if William refused to meet him.

Watching sky news currently and it’s clear that the trip is important for the uk.

The BRF have a history of being 'forced' to meet the House of Saud. Those racehorses and diamonds don't gift themselves you know!

Saudi Arabia diamond MILLION GIFTS to Royal Family REVEALED

SAUDI Arabia has gifted the British Royal Family luxurious jewellery worth millions for decades, but the royals are now facing increasing pressure to cut ties following the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Here are some of the pieces the Queen and...

Very good question.

No I think they gifted every female member of the BRF a diamond gift on their marriage, which is why Meghan has them. They didnt give them to her because they loved Suits. Didn't TLQ have a fleet of pedigree racehorses given to her by the Saudi's?

Totally agree.

I just think they always always hope that it all blows over. And most of the time it does.
Which is why they are so so slow at actually doing anything, taking action, being decisive. Waiting and hoping for some other crisis to take over the news and it to be put to one side.

They have parliament on side (not all MPs) and they just need to get the public back onside. So no doubt there will be some fantastic PR of William in middle East, they will probably give it a week or so then announce George's school, Kate will welcome in Spring in a month with a saccharine nature video, and all will be back to normal. They hope.

This is why we have to keep the pressure up. Write to your MPs, demanding the Trade Envoy records are unsealed. If anyone wants the basis of my letter, I have one (but suggest you rewrite it yourself as they take no notice of duplicates)

I agree everyone needs to write to their MP's. They need to justify their derogation of their duty on this and many other things related to the RF over the decades. Its not just the trade envoy stuff, although that is the most pertinent. They should not be allowed to just say this is only related to AMW and let them carry on as usual. They need to scrutinise them going forward.
