Mandelson is being investigated for that and so should Andrew. It’s so disgustingly unfair that he gets away with it because of him being part of this atrocious “Royal” family. Others have gone to jail for less.
I wonder if there will mysteriously be nothing to see here on Mandleson in order to keep AMW out of jail? You cant jail one person and let the other one swan on by apparently 'in exile' in a 5 bedroom mansion with a fleet of staff for doing the same thing, but seemingly many times over, to a range of dodgy characters. But OTOH you cant have the Kings brother being jailed for treason.

BasiliskStare · 13/02/2026 13:44

I do think anything AMW passed on which could be insider trading should be disclosed . Not sure what the physical or mental health refers to but if it doesn't apply to other instances of insider trading / passing on confidential or classified documents , not sure why it would here .
Frankly, I think AMW is fighting on a lot of fronts here . If he could be convicted on financial dealings more easily than the sex trafficking - then I think the police and indeed the govt should be doing everything they can to investigate him. And the trafficking obviously , but it would appear there are multiple things.
Al Capone for being convicted to tax evasion rather than murder comes to mind , but I admit not an exact analogy 😊

There has been a tiny bit of fallout on the other Royals, with William’s Earthshot being reported to the Charity Commission because of the repugnant Sultan being one of the founding partners and also his £1m donation. The UAE government fired Sultan as head of DP world today … so it’s not nothing. But Andrew cannot be mothballed in Sandringham. That health and safety defense is beyond ridiculous.

After reading Entitled and digesting these daily (worse and worse) reveals, I feel as if the RF still treat the whole country and its resources as if it were their personal property, like in the 1300s or something. And the support they have received from successive governments in protecting them is what I just can’t fathom. The sycophancy and the bowing and scraping like many PPs have said is probably it but why??!!

Edited

That would be terrible re Mandelson but you could be right. But aside from the monarch, my understanding that the other members of the RF are in theory (and in law), not above the laws of the country that the rest of us are subject to.

Andrew has clearly been repeatedly shielded (thanks QE2) but I would hope that once sunlight is focussed on his dirty deeds (I think the insider trading is much more easy to prove), he can be subject to prosecution.

I have always wondered about the protection officers and whether they had a duty to report illegal behavior or if the main role was just to protect their principle. Certainly appears to be the latter as I can not imagine Andrew inspired any loyalty as most staff seemed to dislike him.

of course it is now half term so will be crickets from William.

Interestingly, a former Royal Protection Officer for 6 years, has contacted Thames Valley Police about all the women bypassing security and coming into the Palaces for Andrew
Even when QE2 was in residence. A complete security nightmare surely. Anything could have happened.

Wasn't there something about Epstein putting Sandringham down as his UK address?

Where’s that come from ?

StandingSideBySide · 13/02/2026 16:48

Ukisgaslit · 13/02/2026 09:44

And people are speculating based on published articles

I haven’t seen mention of E or B anywhere

A Published article from the sun copied now by other newspapers
with no source given
So much speculation in the papers but that’s all it is !

Mumsnetters could do just as good a job at guessing because that’s all it is.

There's another thread touching on this money issue which is worth a read

simpsonthecat · 13/02/2026 16:52

This is well worth a watch.

Following the latest release of the Epstein files, claims made by the then Prince Andrew in a 2019 BBC Newsnight interview can be put under fresh scrutiny.
The BBC’s Sean Coughlan and Sarah Campbell have gone through the interview to compare Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s replies with emails which were apparently sent to and from the former prince.

Watching his stupid face spouting lie after lie is pretty nauseating but he has been caught out. That's a start

I so agree with this! Successive governments have behaved the same way. And MPs haven’t being doing their jobs properly. Between them, they have allowed this situation to arise and continue.

What is with the assumption it was the Queen passing the hat round? Why not the way more likely option of Andrew. So it went something like this, £3million he used from money left to him by Prince Philip, £1.5m came from Beatrice/Eugenie and The Queen then lent him the shortfall of £7.5m to be repaid from the sale of the ski chalet.

A lot of people had dibs on that bloody ski chalet! Talk about over-leveraged …

I might be wrong but didn’t we hear that they never actually paid the full amount owed to the person they bought it from?
I am sure I read somewhere that the vendor was very upset about it .🤔

William isn't the King o the PM so why would you be looking to him? Andrew's older brother is point man on this within the RF.

Yes she sued them. I couldnt quite get to the bottom of that story, but yes she fell out with them and had to sue, settled for a lower price just so she could get some money and then they spent a load of money on something else I think, so she was massively pissed off.

I presume because of Earthshot

Because missing the chance to blame William would be upsetting to some.

Yes ! Thanks , I knew I had seen this , it was quite the scandal then mysteriously disappeared!
do we think someone ( Epstein) paid her the money? Or am I being overly suspicious!

Yes very much because of this. But also maybe because he has been reported to have been involved with decisions around Andrew over the past few years, alongside KC.

I think I read somewhere that this was another thing TLQ paid off for them

Ukisgaslit · 13/02/2026 18:01

William’s inaction over the Earthshot donation is very damning.
He and Kate made a - rightly criticised- word salad statement about being ‘ deeply concerned’ about victims

Yet despite the revelations about the man who is described as a co founder of Earthshot , William does nothing .

Well that wouldn’t be surprising but I’m now feeling very sceptical about TLQ being quite this generous and wondering if it’s ploy to hide the real benefactor! , however thats just me thinking out loud.

From memory (which could be addled given the amount of information overload on this topic recently) they vastly underpaid the vendor and then bought a pricey pad in Belgravia for SF. So they had money, they just didn’t want to give it to the person they owed it to.

Honestly I am generally quite sympathetic towards William and he did brief earlier this week about thinking about the victims but that isn't enough. Obviously Charles should do more more but William suffers a lot with perceptions about his lack of workload. And you can not convince me that both William and Charles do not know what is still to come regarding Andrew and Epstein and trade envoy stuff - they should be getting ahead of this stuff.

If he does make a statement next week and is out and about I will eat my words but past experience shows we don't ever see William or Catherine during their children's extensive school holidays. I know how long those holidays are as have dc in similar schools.

It is interesting as well that my fairly innocuous comment received such pushback - I can see how the pro RF posters get such an interesting reputation on these boards.

Ukisgaslit · 13/02/2026 18:12

I agree with what you say @stillavid but they ( by that I mean all the Windsors not just William) cannot get away with yet more ‘statements’
We’ve all had enough of Windsor hypocrisy.
