Kate's birthday video "Mother Nature"

The PR machine is pushing Catherine as being the Queen of Nature, so wholesome and pure, and ending the video with "Mother Nature" just seems so forced to me.

I'm not really sure why she would release a 90 second video of this nature. Anyone else?

let's contrast with Meghan

Let's not?

You have tenacity, I will give you that!

Tell me you know you are losing the argument without telling me you know you are losing the argument. 😂

Why can Meghan not be compared? She's the Shadow , the wannabe and does very similar things.

I don't think people are trying to downplay anything.

We are giving her the dignity if taking her at her word.

That is, listening to her.

On the other hand, many on this thread think that what she said is not enough and try to up- play her illness.

OF TAKING HER AT HER WORD?

Are you suggesting she or her medical team are lying ? How bizarre.

Ohpleeeease · 10/01/2026 16:04

Off topic, but Royals don’t necessarily get to choose where they live. Like everybody, there are constraints. And like a lot of people, life and family changes come into play.

There’s a really interesting programme on C5 about Clarence House, where various members of the royal family have found themselves, not always willingly.

Sorry for the detail.

Justdancevance · 10/01/2026 13:13

One had dodgy dealings with a tenant, one was unable to string a sentence and the others skills seem limited to an ability to do some keepie uppies (not sure if that’s how you spell it)

Charles is far better than that three of them. Many of the U.K. politicians aren’t much better than our choices in Ireland.

But the there is that you have choice.

And if you dislike your choice, you get another one in 4 years time (or six, or five or what ever the election cycle is).

I acknowledge that it must be fiendishly difficult to find your own voice within the RF when you probably are given very fixed parameters as to the areas you can focus on on and how, so you aren’t seen to be over-shadowing anyone else? Maybe that’s why she did it?
To be honest I think the older Royals- Charles and Camilla are far better at showing empathy even when they are talking about themselves. For eg when Charles talks about cancer it seems to be to highlight treatment and early diagnosis and Camilla talking about her assault but mostly talking about other victims of assault. I think with these videos they all seem to be ' Im so glad Im in remission. Look how great it is that Im wandering around the woods' .Especially talking about the ' simpler things in life' when everyone knows she spent taxpayers money pulling out 2 kitchens at her first ' forever home' becausecshe changed her mind about something and had a tennis court ripped out and moved a few feet, and is about to renovate another 'forever home', including cordoning of another few acres of parkland for her familys exclusive use. Are people really thinking 'Oh there's a park down my road. It never occurred to me to take my kids there but now I've seen Kate in some woods Im going to do it'? Of course not. The whole thing is a PR exercise, and solely aimed at Monarchists and to gain favourable press coverage for the RF.

So you didn't read about the event the day before this? If you had you would know she had 🙄

Why compare an apple to orange. Sure - both are round, sweet and grow on trees but beyond that?

PoW is British - MM is an American.

PoW did not work in a serious way (no criticism from me) - MM had a career.

PoW one marriage - MM has two.

PoW is white - MM is mixed race.

PoW comes from stable home environment - MM from a divorced family

And on and on and on

Compare PoW to Lady Diana, Sarah Ferguson, Camilla etc.

Moore appropriate surely?

Im not sure what you meant by national policy. However, there has been a real push in NYC to provide parks and playgrounds and even pocket green spaces for people even in poorer neighborhoods. Some of the schools are putting in raised beds for kids to grow vegetables, and we also have community gardens.

I was involved in a program several years ago to encourage people to grow 1 square foot of plants for pollinators, with ideas about how people could do It in an urban area, inexpensively, etc. It would benefit both people and pollinators.

Once again, I really wonder why people in the UK don't push harder on their elected officials to provide more parks and green spaces.

I'm not quite sure why you think there are inadequate spaces in our cities.
London boasts over 3,000 parks and green spaces, making it one of the world's greenest cities, with roughly 20% of the city being public green space. Earlier someone referred to green belts which is a totally different thing with national guidelines set by the government which must be adhered to. The provision of parks, city zoos etc do not fall into this category and are provided locally dependent on money, charities and other incentives. Unlike the USA because we are such a small island no place is further than 70 miles from the sea ( not to mention rivers, lakes etc) .

Are you saying your list about Meghan are negatives?

Nope.

She said - preventative treatment.

No.

I am saying that trying to compare those two is like trying to compare apples and oranges.

The argument is wrong.

If you want to compare the PoW to someone, compare her to like.

Diana, Fergie, Camilla.

Sorry just to clarify your few words - are you saying that Catherine did not have cancer? ( despite all the links posted before)

VanessaSanessa · 10/01/2026 16:47

I'm no royalist but debating whether she had cancer or not is ridiculous. They may have gotten the cancer out but a cell can remain, continue to grow, divide and cause more cancer. So while her treatment might be preventative, getting chemo was sensible for longer term cancer prevention.

On the video, absolutely tone deaf and I agree, the focus on the big, expensive engagement ring, silly.

And no, I don't think people can relate to her. She's beyond privileged. Her treatment, lifestyle, lack of work life, pretty much all her life, ability to focus on recovery, not work, no money worries. Yes, she had cancer (and I understand the absolute horror that brings) but that doesn't change that on the whole, she's very unrelatable to most people.

Ohpleeeease · 10/01/2026 16:52

Relatability is overrated.

andIsaid · 10/01/2026 16:52

I am not going to litigate this with you @redmangyfox .

I am interested in the main topic of the thread, and will stay in that for now.

Your answer shows that you do not believe that Catherine had cancer and was treated for it .

You claim you are not derailing ! Wow! Well it's good that you said that this as your post stands to show what kind of person you are.

Litigate my arse. A simple yes or no but you have not got the guts to say it.

There is no debate.

It is a fact unless you are another who believe she, her medical team and the palace have lied. Do you think this is the case?

The thread is not about her cancer but about the video she has put out. It seems that some posters just want to derail the thread for some reason.

BigWillyLittleTodger · 10/01/2026 17:24

BigAnne · 10/01/2026 12:24

I fully acknowledged that PC is entitled to privacy regarding her health but I think it would've been a good thing if she said more about the type of cancer she had. I'm thinking Jade Goody and the effect she had on encouraging women to have regular smear tests. Instead we're being treated to these tone deaf videos.

And as per my earlier post Jade Goody was accused of not having cancer which caused her great distress and she died, and yet here we are with posters saying the same about Catherine, this thread is disgusting.

redmangyfox · 10/01/2026 17:26

@losingstill many of the previous posters took it to be about her recovery and her cancer. If you read the thread from the beginning you will see this. It is therefore very relevant. It is very obvious that @andIsaid tied herself in a knot with her previous posts but does not have the courage of her convictions to say what she believes. It is clear to see though.

Utterly patronising.

Mydahliasareshit · 10/01/2026 17:31

The problem is there is zero humour in her videos.
It's so 'look at me being perfect', swish swish.

If she'd done for example a winter solstice one, darkest night of the year, saying 'aahh, all upwards from here, raise a glass with William /us/I ' or something about winter bonfires and the inordinate amount of sausages boys want to consume, she'd be far more liked.

But I suspect someone in that camp is a saboteur and making her look like Marie Antoinette playing at being a shepherdess.

ThatAvidViewer · 10/01/2026 17:38

andIsaid · 10/01/2026 16:17

Nope.

She said - preventative treatment.

Preventive chemotherapy (in oncology) is chemotherapy given after the primary treatment, usually surgery, to eliminate microscopic cancer cells that may remain and to reduce the risk of cancer recurrence.
✅ In other words, it’s another term for adjuvant chemotherapy.

The Royal Marsden is a leading cancer hospital, and in a statement and during the Princess of Wales’s official visit, the hospital confirmed she received her cancer treatment — including chemotherapy — there.
