Kate's birthday video "Mother Nature"

The PR machine is pushing Catherine as being the Queen of Nature, so wholesome and pure, and ending the video with "Mother Nature" just seems so forced to me.

I'm not really sure why she would release a 90 second video of this nature. Anyone else?

Bitter and jealous - more name calling from the monarchist side…

Of course getting rid of the monarchy wouldn’t result in an equal society - no society has ever been truly equal, its human nature. But that’s not an argument to retain constitutional hereditary privilege.

Out of interest - what is your view on hereditary peerages?

It's not name calling. It's my interpretation of it all and that is valid. How can you say how my brain feels about what I see on here or in the bigger world ? I didn't say any one person was jealous. I said it's a theme of jealousy, discontent and possibly exasperation as a movement.

She said was 'preventive' not me!

Did she refer to her own organs with a ? I don't think so.

Also I’m not sure what a ‘true republican’ is either - as far as I’m aware it’s a belief that power should be held by an elected head of state rather than an hereditary power. Is there some sort of club I should be aware of? Secret handshake etc?

What a strange response to my post.

If someone talked about being a true republican, it wasn't me so you are muddling me up with someone else.

I don't understand the rest of your post to be frank

I suppose this begs the question then - did this help prepare her for her role? To understand that the role she plays is a difficult one - let's contrast with Meghan who came from a totally different background and failed at this unless she had never intended to stay? The outcry that this video has created - can you imagine if it were Meghan doing it but only talking about herself? I can't imagine. She really is Marie Antoinette.

I think that, being British, Catherine had at least some idea of the role of the royal family, their lifestyle, what the “job” entails and of the “rankings” within the family.
Add to that the fact that she was William’s girlfriend for years before they got engaged, and that they both lived a quiet life in North Wales for a long time, and William had a “proper job” as a helicopter pilot too.

Meghan wanted to “hit the ground running” without really having any inkling of what that entailed. And she and Harry got married fairly quickly after they met, relatively speaking.

Yeah. Catherine said it was preventative chemo in one of her previous outdoor videos

Apologies - I meant to reply to @Ohpleeeease post about how the anti-monarchy posts on here are an 'insult to genuine republicans' - I was just musing on what makes a genuine republican! I think from your previous reply we're on the same page re republic/coronation protest arrests.

Justdancevance · 10/01/2026 11:12

I’m in a republic (iteland). Honestly a terrible bunch of candidates for the last election. Be careful what you wish for.

Here's the link to it . Yes cancer was discovered. I would think that the preventative chemotherapy was to stop it spreading to other parts of her body. This is what has happened to people I know .

Kate releases video message saying she is having preventative chemotherapy after cancer was found in tests.

Worse than Andrew? Because if something had happened to Charles pre-1982 (say polo accident etc) then we'd have him as King - but no election to do something about it...

Did she refer to her own organs with a ? I don't think so.

She didnt say what was removed during the abdominal surgery so I'm guessing it was a hysterectomy. She went on to say cancerous cells were found and she had preventative chemotherapy. That's not cancer.

Cheese55 · 10/01/2026 11:54

redmangyfox · 10/01/2026 10:18

I agree with you in respect that I don't see anger here - all I see is jealousy and bitterness. I don't believe for one second that any Republican country would not have layers, tiers and a hierarchy. It's proven over time and place and naive in the extreme to believe there would be a level playing field.

What are we jealous of?

MrsLizzieDarcy · 10/01/2026 11:57

A 2 week hospital stay wasn't for a hysterectomy. I'd hazard a guess at some form of chronic colon/bowel disease and given her body shape, I'd also say she's had it some time and doesn't absorb calories well. I've got a friend with Crohn's disease who is convinced that's what Catherine has. If she had a bowel resection and cancer had been present, yes it was removed but a cancer cell is a cancer cell and is the worst word you can hear a medical professional say to you. She may also well have a stoma bag while her body heals and need reversal surgery at some point in future.

She still doesn't look well IMO, and it must be hell on earth having speculation around everything she does.

BemusedAmerican · 10/01/2026 11:57

As an American, it's been interesting reading the comments. Here in NYC there has been a push for more green spaces so that everyone has access to them for better mental health. There has been a huge outcry in the US against the defunding of the national park service.

I watched the video and my impression was that Catherine was pointing out the benefits of green spaces and nature.

My bus stop is across the street from a small forest. I really enjoy watching the forest life while waiting for the bus. So I agree with her observations.

Butteredtoast55 · 10/01/2026 11:58

I think speculating on the nature, severity and likelihood of the return of her cancer is in absolutely terrible taste. She told the public what she chose for them to know, primarily as a result of truly appalling trolling and vile behaviour of posters on the internet.
It's her business, no-one else's, and she gets to react to it how she chooses.
Honestly, what's wrong with some people?

Cancerous cells are not cancer?

The sooner this lot of sponging bastards are disbanded the better.

redmangyfox · 10/01/2026 12:00

Cancerous cells are not cancer?

No it means the organ removed had cancerous cells so she had chemo in case a cell or 2 had broken off and settled elsewhere to start dividing.

redmangyfox · 10/01/2026 12:11

I'm not going to entertain ludicrous and offensive comments about this. She did not say she had an organ removed. You are guessing she had a hysterectomy 🤷‍♀️ She stated she had cancer and she was getting preventative chemo. It's not complicated.

To be fair a lot of her early years stuff is fairly vacuous when you look into it. It's mostly saying how important early years are (which surely isn't a new concept?!). She's never really stuck her neck out by lobbying politicians (has she said anything about surestart centres being cut under austerity?). Although I'll admit I'm being a massive hypocrite here as if she was lobbying politicians I'd see that as a massive overstep.

I'll never know why she hasn't done something to do with young people and sport. It's clearly something that appeals to her, she could have got involved with the this girl can campaign, done some sort of sports based version of DofE (or events at royal palaces etc).

I remember seeing her at a food bank (on the news) a couple of years ago. Someone asked her something unexpected and she stumbled over her words, seemed very unsure of herself, and garbled a response that ended with "I'm still learning." Which for someone who has been in the RF for so long now seemed somewhat ridiculous.

I imagine that footage has been "disappeared".

The early years stuff as far as I can see is as much verbal nonsense as this video. She says nothing of any substance about anything.

I think she is happiest at home with her family, and in another world would be a well off SAHM. And that to me is fair enough.

But she's the next queen so by doing that she's taking the piss really.

Well of course green spaces are beneficial - we don't need a woman from one of the richest families in the UK with more access than most to those green spaces to tell us that.

In the meantime her husband, via his Duchy of Cornwall property portfolio, is busy building over green spaces.

she said she had an operation <to remove something> and some cancerous cells were found in what was removed. No cancer remained. But she was having preventative chemo anyway.
