Christmas Day walk in Sandringham

This is such a strange thing....so the royal family walk along a stretch of path every year and people gather to watch them. These people try to talk to the Wales children and give them presents. They are photographing the children, taking selfies, etc. I think the kids are far too young to do this. It is so odd.

How on earth do William & Catherine think this is okay?!

I may not agree with all @CurlewKate says but I have never seen her be personal about the Wales children.

As for being comfortable with what went on with this recent walk, who knows, as children grow and mature they obviously change.
I think it was far far far too much. Kate and William need a rethink.

I've just looked back at posts where she has. I don't think I'm allowed to link threads. It's there. Plain to see.

When I saw this spectacle it reminded me of when my Dad was in his 90’s. He was long past the stage of mincing his words. He was watching on tv the huddle of sycophants waiting in the freezing cold for the Royals to emerge from church. He said “have these fuckin weirdos got nothing better to do with their time? 😆

simpsonthecat · 29/12/2025 18:12

@Twinkletwinkly Your Dad nailed it!

You have been saying this for years criticising George and the other two as well. Constant criticism - does it make you feel good talking in such terms about children?

I have never criticised the Wales children. Never. Feel free to link.

Thank you. And I agree-this Sandringham walk was, to quote Jane Austen “badly done”

And it will get worse every year. It always does with things like this.

Hopefully, once this lot of royal fanatics die out the obsession will die out. You never see many gen x/millennial/gen y/gen z at these walkabouts. Things in local towns are different.

You don t have to link threads. You can simply c&p the criticism.

I used to live near Sandringham. I was at Princess Charlotte’s christening - I was part of the church NOT invitees! It was actually really small. We didn’t mingle with the RF or talk to them, they talked to us if they wanted but it was very in and out and not really anything to do with us. Prince Andrew (former Prince Andrew) spoke to me about the flowers at the christening for example but I didn’t speak to him per se, he stopped and asked a question and I answered it and then he said ‘Jolly Good’ and headed off.

The walk from the house of done traditionally and the RF could have put a stop to it a very long time ago- covid concerns or whatever but they haven’t. The Queen wanted to be seen, clear coaches, umbrellas etc . I might be wrong but feel the RF ‘want it’ the publicity and after all it was an hour from start to finish. March down from main house (the church is on the estate), quick service and March back. I had friends that used to go on Christmas Day but they were very ‘in love with the RF’ wait early handbag search etc there are loads and loads of police there - or there used to be. The toys etc were accepted and thanks given but the chocolates etc never actually made it on the houses and A bit like the flowers given are passed to a LIW and then handed on etc …. They don’t keep them. I do believe the RF like the public turning out - they moan about it - but also want the general plebs to worship them and they honestly believe they do - that people worship them. So it becomes a circle - RF thinks people worship them, they allow them to do so - people turn up to get a photo etc

I have long moved away from Sandringham but it’s a very strange thing the Christmas walk. I guess given the speech is prerecorded it is seen as something they are doing on the day itself for us….

What @CurlewKate has said is not a criticism of children. It is a criticism of the RF, including their parents who are allowing these children to be exploited by the RF for PR purposes and of the adults who behave in this way towards children.

wordler · 29/12/2025 18:35

I wonder what it feels like from the ‘inside’ of the walk and if they are noticing an escalation of public behaviour, or whether it’s a bit like the ‘boiling a frog’ expression.

It’s just a bit ‘more’ each year and it’s a fairly quick walkabout so doesn’t look as odd as to the people watching it on video.

For William it just must be a habit, and Kate always seems to enjoy chatting to people on walkabouts.

Really? , you think debating about George’s sexuality isn’t personal.

Exactly. And given cockandbull strongly criticised a poster for advance searching another poster only a few days ago. She suggested they were too involved in it all. Maybe take her own advice!

I agree. I haven’t seen any criticism of the children from CurlewKate. Just reasoned opinions about the RF behaviour.

I think it’s odd that people stand for hours in the cold just to look at them . They are just people who pee and poo like everyone else . Also the chocolates people give them will just be binned in case they have been tampered with in some way or possibly be given to the staff to eat .

This made me chuckle.

Hey Butler, would you like these chocolates? An oddball gave them to one of the children and we are worried he poisoned them.

lucky staff.

ItsStillChristmas · 29/12/2025 19:08

@cockandbullstories @jeffgoldblum what exactly did @CurlewKate say?

QuornToBeWild · 29/12/2025 19:30

I think William and Kate need to protect their children from the weirdos in the crowd. The one saying nanny Diana would be proud overstepped boundaries, as did those asking Charlotte for hugs. There are so many weirdos around but a disproportionate number seem to be attracted to being in the crowd for these things. Poor children being exposed to that.

Dagda · 29/12/2025 19:32

This is a really old article on “John” the super fan that said the over familiar “Nana Diana would you proud of you”

https://eu.usatoday.com/story/news/world/2017/08/22/princess-dianas-most-passionate-fan-guy-named-john-loughrey/524535001/

And I notice that William actually introduced his kids to him. This person who seems to suffer with their mental health and has an unhealthy obsession with all of them.

William’s sense of normal behaviour is warped.
