The royal family

Christmas Day walk in Sandringham

This is such a strange thing....so the royal family walk along a stretch of path every year and people gather to watch them. These people try to talk to the Wales children and give them presents. They are photographing the children, taking selfies, etc. I think the kids are far too young to do this. It is so odd.

How on earth do William & Catherine think this is okay?!

Maybe we can keep the thread going till then? 😃

I don't think we'll have to wait until next years 'Christmas day walk'.
In the USA they will be continuing to release more Epstein files, and each time they do, Andrew will be discussed again and the Royal family will be further tarnished. Then, within a week or two those poor children will be pushed into the public space again and again.

Ukisgaslit · 07/01/2026 14:54

The pushing of the children into the public sphere has already started.
Wasn’t George at something one evening because William wasn’t there?
Charlotte was doing a piano recording with Kate ( it didn’t help with viewing figures at all )

Both examples totally unnecessary and exploitative.

LidlAmaretto · 07/01/2026 15:06

I suspect William and Kate can parent as well as they like within the confines of their own home but that will be completely overidden by the need to keep the Monarchy going and deflecting from unfavourable news headlines. I suspect William thinks this is completely normal as it happened to him, and Kate knows as a married in she just has to do as shes told.

Ukisgaslit · 07/01/2026 15:19

The children have certainly been pushed forward more over the last year, culminating in the Christmas pap walk .
The pap walk was the most exploitative in my opinion, with hugs and selfies encouraged to further the parasocial relationship some keen royalists need to have with the Windsors

The children are being pressed into service for Windsor INC pr and it is wrong .

simpsonthecat · 07/01/2026 15:25

I've got the dentist next week. It's the only place I see a magazine. No doubt there will be front cover pictures of Charlotte and inside pics of all of them.

Ukisgaslit · 07/01/2026 15:26

Part of this pushing the children forward must be to distract from Andrew .
That would explain why it’s happening more this year .

and yet Harry and Meghan release a picture showing the back of their kids heads and they are labelled terrible parents - oh the irony

CathyorClaire · 07/01/2026 21:19

Anyone remember the 'Kate's Cuties' DM calendar of yesteryear?

I expect it was an entirely unauthorised venture but a quick glance on Ebay makes me wish I'd invested 😁

I think with Harry and Meghan it is more to do with hypocrisy where they grab a lot of headlines with their statements urging parents not to post their kids on social media (Harry made a statement about this as recently as late October IIRC) while at the same time setting up photoshoots to post pictures of their kids on social media to further their influencer lifestyle programmes and internet sales of jam and pancake mix.

Although perhaps it is not really surprising given that their eco credentials are also flexible when it comes to taking private jets.

That's funny! This is a thread about Kate and William and they have taken delivery of two new helicopters (they've already done more than 58,000 miles!) so I believe the top royals have four at their disposal. They use them like we'd hop on a bus! Earthshot anyone?!

and what is your take on the Sussexes using the kids as instagram props?

The hypocrisy really is astounding.

What is your take on 2 new helicopters? And their use of them in general?

That's hilarious, using helicopters when travelling within the UK (because cars are far too common!).

Where do you even start with these jokers, it's so bad, it almost like Kate/Wills are trolling us.

I think it’s irritating. But I can see why they don’t show the children’s faces. I can’t imagine the reaction if they allowed members of the public to have selfies with them!

I expect that's been discussed at length ad nauseum on one of the threads about them.

I think leasing them rather than buying them was very sensible. I think King Charles used them a lot between London and Sandringham while having cancer treatment. Perhaps Kate did as well.

Harry seems happy to allow it as well as the Halloween photos showed the kids running up to people's doors without Harry and Meghan - and in California the photos must have been approved by them.

Deflect, they must deflect! 🤣🤣🤣

MiloAndTeddy · 08/01/2026 00:02

No one should be using their kids for PR, which is what William and Harry are both doing. But photos are VERY different to hugs and selfies with strangers.

Let’s not fall for the deflection tactics though. It’s been refreshing for this board to be discussing other RF members instead of Harry and Meghan. Let’s hope the discussion on others continues.

SparklingCrow · 08/01/2026 01:37

I’m not buying all the ‘deflection tactics’ stuff, tbh. All sounds a bit conspiracy theorist to me - but each to their own.

I think someone in the Wales royal household fucked up. I’m curious as to who and why.

Harry meanwhile remains a massively unpleasant hypocrite and Andrew remains utterly vile.

Ohpleeeease · 06/01/2026 17:56

In all seriousness, we live in different times. The Queen was never to be touched and no-one would have asked her for a selfie. Now the King is group hugging women. Granny Diana was a great one for dispensing hugs and kisses, she opened the door to that sort of physical contact. Expectations have been raised and it's going to be hard to manage people back into line.

I was very grateful for Covid introducing social distancing, I've never quite given it up...

We certainly do live in different times, but I would have said physical contact with children who haven’t asked for it is much much less acceptable now than it was in the past.

I don’t think Diana has caused this either - there’s a massive difference between an adult offering a hug, and a child being asked for one.

I think this will be reflected on and there’ll be more control next year.

Just to add to this - I mean, ‘distraction from Andrew’ isn’t really working is it, because it’s entirely impossible. Even the BBC is running an investigation into Andrew. This appeared overnight:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c8d09qd6zn2o

Oligarch linked to bribery paid Andrew £15m for mansion

And the royal household(s) and their PR will know this.

A graphic featuring a close-up black-and-white image of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor looking concerned superimposed on an image of Sunninghill Park mansion, a large two-story brick house.

Andrew was paid millions by oligarch with funds from firm linked to bribery scheme

Firm which part-funded Sunninghill Park purchase received "allegedly corrupt" payments, court documents say.

Ukisgaslit · 08/01/2026 09:42

Of course it’s distraction from Andrew .

Are you suggesting that Kate and William have put their 10 and 13 year old to work just for the hell of it ?

That the attempted distraction doesn’t work is to be welcomed. The royal PR is about 40 years behind the times .

Ukisgaslit · 08/01/2026 09:44

There is one point I will agree with on- Andrew is also the fall guy for others among the Windsors .

Andrew is still protected and still in the line of succession.
