Duke of Sussex security to be reviewed

The Duke of Sussex lost his argument in the Court of Appeal in May for automatic taxpayer security: the current arrangement is that his security needs are assessed on a case-by-case basis provided he gives notice.

He has recently been in touch with the new Home Secretary, and the latest update is that RAVEC has asked its Risk Management Board (RMB) to reassess his threat level.

.

What a silly woman she is not to see that she would be liked and respected by opening the front door to visitors and greeting them personally.

It's more important to her that someone goes ahead and reminds the other person that she's a royal Duchess.
That is everything to her.

Make the most it while you can, Meghan.

Is he trying to increase his security risk by being as annoying as humanly possible just to prove a point?

peanutbuttertoasty · 08/12/2025 21:39

They really are the new Andrew and fergie

Indeed.

Alongside 'being announced' she let her guest see herself out at the end, not bothering to see her to the door.

In the little things do people reveal themselves. Years ago, I worked for a rather formal corporate in the City - but things were changing. The new chairman upset his fellow directors by abolishing the directors' dining room so they all had to eat with the rest of us in the (free) self-service restaurant in the basement. Good man. The European CEO of Europe, on the other hand, in reply to my question about his puzzled face at the beginning of a one-to-one meeting, explained that his wife was away and he couldn't find his shirts. Prize idiot.

Just speculation, but I have seen it suggested elsewhere that this 'review' might be actually be a replacement for the 'bespoke' case by case arrangement Harry has had for the past 5 years.

If true, and I stress it is only speculation, that would actually be a downgrade on the situation Harry currently enjoys.

peanutbuttertoasty · 08/12/2025 22:13

Is it actually a review to assess the risk that Harry poses to the UK? Because there may be some merit in that.

There are multiple possibilities. The outcome of the review will be what counts. I don't see how a review can replace a bespoke arrangement. The review could confirm the current, bespoke arrangement needs to remain because it is appropriate for the current, presumably low, threat level. Or it could find the threat level has increased and Harry needs armed protection officers. Let's hope not the latter because we don't want the bill.

I guess with the current, 'bespoke' arrangement, if Harry deigns to tell RAVEC that he's popping over in 4 weeks, then they are obliged to do a review of his security 'needs' for that visit. But if this 'review' indicates that the threat level is low, then RAVEC may come to the conclusion that 'case by case' assessments are no longer required unless there is a change in the threat environment. Which would be a downgrade.

But that's only my uninformed speculation. Either way, I can't see this review delivering what Harry wants, because what he wants simply isn't on offer.

They have never been chased by any journalists.
The footage on their Netflix series was fake.

Well, there was that pap on the scooter - remember that exciting chase scene from their NF documentary? That didn't feature any footage of any scooter or pap? Well, other than a brief glimpse of a pizza delivery guy. That was in LA though.

I see - the risk is that 'bespoke' is removed. Harry expects Pa to intervene though and make it all right for his darling boy. H doesn't seem to understand that constitutional monarch and despot are not the same thing.

The way that Meghan kept trying to make it an issue was really strange, though...

What Harry doesn't understand could fill Montecito Manor.

All that lolly spaffed on an Eton education.

Beesandhoney123 · 08/12/2025 22:36

Visiting the family seems risk free for a Visit, from stranger danger at least. And 28 days notice seems perfectly reasonable, seeing as they are not working royals. Charles is a busy man with many responsibilities. He isn't sitting at home waiting for H to turn up out of the blue when it suits him. And rightly so!

Do they have 24/7 armed protection in the USA, for going about their daily life?

I'm not entirely sure if I were a special ops bodyguard or whatever its called, I'd be happy to spend my day watching those two be rude about the King, the future king and queen, so disloyal and quite frankly displaying openly traitorous behaviour.

I actually found that quite sinister, Meghan knows how Harry feels about security and the press and it came across to me that she was playing up to his fears to make him feel vulnerable and unsafe when she knew full well it was just a pizza delivery guy.

PoppyWarrior · 09/12/2025 00:25

Wish he would just fuck off for good! He really is an irritating little twerp!

lickingfingertastingfood · 09/12/2025 00:25

She needs to make him feel as if he is " saving" her.
