Duke of Sussex security to be reviewed

The Duke of Sussex lost his argument in the Court of Appeal in May for automatic taxpayer security: the current arrangement is that his security needs are assessed on a case-by-case basis provided he gives notice.

He has recently been in touch with the new Home Secretary, and the latest update is that RAVEC has asked its Risk Management Board (RMB) to reassess his threat level.

Agreed ! As I said on the other thread , I believe we are seeing Liam earning his wages.

I still don’t think he will last for all of 2026 .

Nope! I agree, last man standing will get saddled with all the work, none of the glory and all of the blame!

Not2identifying · 04/01/2026 13:10

I wonder if Liam has lasted this long because he's a 'yes man'. This little flurry of quotes feels like it's coming directly from Harry, a bit petulant and oblivious to the bigger picture.

Thanks for posting the Emily Andrews archive link - enjoyed that analysis and her perspective seems plausible.

MrsLeonFarrell · 04/01/2026 13:21

Liam will keep his job just as long as he keeps releasing news in a way which makes Harry look good, to Harry. This is a whole article about an arrangement basically remaining the same framed to look like Harry won something, with a side order of reminder that the palace is evil.

jeffgoldblum · 04/01/2026 11:47

He wants his security to be armed in the U.K. , he wants his security paid for in any country he fancies visiting.
this is and has always been what he wanted.

He wants what William has 🤷‍♀️

I totally agree, I think Liam must just go along with whatever Harry wants regardless of whether it’s advisable, whereas other experienced PRs have probably pushed back on terrible ideas.

It might keep him in the job but guaranteed it will only trash the Sussexes reputation even more.

Put simply “yes” , all the complaints, all the tantrums are simply that he wants to be the same as William, his parents did him no favours by bringing them up the same, without educating him in the facts of how the monarchy works!
he knows nothing about how his own families history really works, I still can’t believe that he sat there on Netflix and announced that the monarchy was a hierarchy! , like he was surprised to discover this ! , that he was amazed by this! , that he didn’t realise that we already knew this! 🙄

BigWillyLittleTodger · 04/01/2026 16:42

I wonder if this is why they have announced oversea “humanitarian tours”, are they assuming this means IPP status?

But they are not working members of the RF ( despite what H says) .
Am I missing something??

If Harry thinks he's going to get IIP status, he's a blockhead. The criteria are very clear and he fulfils none of them. He's also a blockhead for allowing Liam to talk to Charlotte Griffiths about RAVEC, showing yet again that he can't be trusted.

jeffgoldblum · 04/01/2026 19:16

Excellent @IdaGlossop ! I think we can just say “ Harry is a blockhead “ and leave it there 🤣

I think we can all just sing "Harry is a blockhead" to the tune of Jilted John's "Gordon is a moron".

Typo

Everyone knows he isn’t a working member of the RF, everyone apart from Harry that is.

I know I keep banging on about this, but I also imagine Harry is playing (badly) his Invictus card.

Invictus in Birmingham UK is next year. He’ll be mighty sore if the Israeli IDF team have locked & loaded security and he has something he perceives as lesser.

I think there certainly will be protests, and I also expect that Harry already wants the advance security intelligence on these to leak.

Not convinced that Invictus Birmingham will go ahead . We know veterans and they are very disillusioned with what is happening .

Maybe Harry’s trying to get ahead of that story.

‘It’s not my fault that Invictus is cancelled, it’s the British government’s and RAVEC’s and the King’s, because reasons. No, don’t look at the accounts, that would offend me.’

My2cents1975 · 04/01/2026 22:49

Trump just had Delta Force drag Maduro out of bed.

If H is under any delusions about Trump, he needs to understand that Trump is quite capable of dispatching the Secret Service and FBI to yank H from under his covers and dump him off at the foot of the White Cliffs of Dover.

Trump, and by extension the US government, will never pay for H's security.

MrsLeonFarrell · 05/01/2026 08:50

Bearing in mind the tensions around Invictus it is fairly probable that Harry would have had armed protection for that visit anyway. I don't think this changes anything about his RAVEC arrangement but it may be yet more proof for the Royal family that Harry leaks like a sieve and can't be trusted for longer than afternoon tea.

hepsitemiz · 05/01/2026 10:30

his parents did him no favours by bringing them up the same, without educating him in the facts of how the monarchy works!

It's an interesting thought, Jeff, but can we be sure that his parents did not try to teach him how the monarchy works? It may be that the lesson was delivered many times and in many different ways, but was not retained by him?

I don't know of course, but with Harry frequently showing himself to be quite impervious to reason and logic, and so disinterested in the world around him, quite a few things may have failed to lodge in his skull.

Just remember how uninterested he was in history, and how little he was able to achieve academically, despite the very best education money can buy.

Happy to be corrected if I'm wrong there. I admit I am not as close to the subject as others on this board!

Oh no doubt he probably was given guidance @hepsitemiz, his own book labours over the point his history teacher was dumbfounded he had no interest in his own history!
but it’s been said by many that Diana at least was determined that they have the same upbringing And opportunities.
as for Charles less is said , so I’m unclear but as a woman I didn’t want to fall into that category that lays all the blame for parenting at the feet of the first available woman.

@IdaGlossop I love the term "blockhead" It is my NY resolution to use it more often 😂 But how blockheaded does H need to be to think his father can pop over to the west coast ( with all the commensurate security and all ) to stay at his house . Most normal people I think would have found a way to take your children to see their grandfather in the circumstances. I'm slightly cynical about Harry wanting this. I can see a normal person might like grandad to come and visit - but you can't have it both ways H. Your father is a titular HoS , and that's why you call on your priveliges. Don't ask him to do something you wouldn't.

Blockhead indeed , or Bonehead ?

I don't think he ( I've said this before ) understands just of what (relatively) how little importance he is now. & How ( if polls are to believed ) how unpopular he is . He gave up happy prince H , supporting W&C , and I think he needs to think about this. I for one would not welcome him back in any even slightly public role. Meeting his father in a private family way - yes - but no public role.

Prince Harry 'desperately wants King Charles to come to Montecito'

Charles and Prince William are set to travel to the US separately in April as part of a trip to revitalise a key trade deal put on 'pause' by US President Donald Trump.

I can't answer that, but as others have said it strikes me that things aren't looking very pleasant now Liam's running the PR show and seemingly going for a scorched earth approach
