Thomas Markle very ill

I've just read Thomas Markle is in hospital intensive care. He has been treated poorly by Meghan. I doubt if the pair will have anything to say about this. Though they've always plenty to say about a lot of things. Doubt they'll be rushing to his bedside.

It was Thomas Jr who made the accusations. Isn’t that about him? And where is that?

It's apparently against talk guidelines to quote (heinous) posts.

clarissadavenport · 25/10/2026 13:23

What are you talking about? Meghan had the information passed on to her by the authorities - the MET - who are probably going to be investigating their handling of this.

She was told to not speak of it, in case it jeopardised any future legal proceedings.

Edited

More has come out. It was a letter from his first wife. The Met couldn’t investigate something that happened in US and/or Mexico.

They may have told her to keep quiet publicly but that wouldn’t preclude her from contacting authorities in US or Mexico. In fact she could have had the firm handle it for her.

Why is it expected that as a member of the RF she should just ignore this letter from her half siblings’ mother, but the rest of the RF should have been hands on proving allegations about Andrew that were being investigated by the FBI?

It’s pure hypocrisy and bias.

It has been speculated it is from his first wife, not proven.

How Meghan is supposed to investigate - or pass info on to Interpol or the FBI when she has been led to believe the MET are handling the accusations, and when surely that is their job - I don't know.

I’m not sure what you mean. There are multiple thread running. Did you mean that quote is from another one? Call it out there then.

I can’t account for all the random opinions online. I just think there is a boatload of hypocrisy here.

Mine has remained the same. I always understood her cutting him off after he started constantly going to the tabloids. I felt sympathetic about the drama he caused the week of the wedding.

These accusations are heinous. She’s not responsible for any of it. But if I were here I’d shut my trap now because going on Oprah and blaming the RF for a mental health crisis that occurred when she learned her father was a an accused pedophile is not a good look.

She isn’t. Just like the rest of the RF wasn’t responsible for dealing with the accusations against Andrew.

You bring up the payout. It was an agreement between VG and Andrew. Virginia had competent counsel and US prosecutors who described her as unreliable.

Should the royal family have refused to give Andrew the funds to pay her? I can promise the legal outcome would have been the same except she may have been dragged through a lengthy and unsatisfactory court proceeding.

Well if my adult child had raped a child, I wouldn't give them £12m to make it go away, that's for sure.

If your son had sex with woman who was of legal age who later turned out to be trafficked and she wanted compensation you would deny it? Force her into a trial?

It was a civil not criminal trial, so the worst outcome for Andrew would have been a payout and a finding in her favor. That’s not a finding of guilty and nor would it result in anything more than what has happened to him now.

So you’d make her prove it and possibly refuse her the compensation. Got it.

This is a new one. The Queen paid Virginia to save her the hassle of a trial. It was a kindness really.

The mental gymnastics royalists use should be studied.

If your son was accused of rape would you have gone public to local press and local sm pages telling everyone and warning them so they dont become the best victim?

It was up to the Met to pass the information onto the Mexican and/or US authorities which is why they have referred themselves to the IPCC. If the police tell you not to do anything because they are dealing with it, the onus isn't on you to go around informing other police forces.

We have no idea what the police told Meghan.

I don’t blame her for what she did or didn’t do. I personally believe I would have looked into it, gotten legal advice, followed up with the Met.

But 💯 that’s playing armchair quarterback. She’s not at fault for her father’s alleged crimes.

Would you? But what would your special protection unit advise, for legal reasons?

Signs suggest Thomas Markle Sr may be ‘sex offender of the grossest kind’, says Philippine minister | Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex | The Guardian

>>Sources said she had been advised that speaking publicly about the claims could have jeopardised any potential legal case and also put her at risk of legal action.

On Saturday the Met confirmed it had passed a letter “containing a number of claims about alleged offending outside the United Kingdom” to Meghan and the Duke of Sussex in 2019 but did not share details with other law enforcement agencies. Scotland Yard is considering whether to refer itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct to review its actions.

The duchess was “upset and really frustrated” that the Met had not acted on allegations made in that letter, sources said.<<

I refuse to accept that they passed this letter on and then anyone advised her to just forget it happened then make an announcement about it 8 years later.

Yeah, I wouldn’t settle for that.

I also no longer find “sources” speaking on their behalf credible.

clarissadavenport · 25/10/2026 21:29

It's funny, you know - well, it's not funny, it's horrifying - I truly didn't realise so very many heartless people walked among us.

Most people are immensely distressed at the thought of harm coming to a child. Most people with functioning empathy are horrified, disgusted, and angry about CSA. Most people are able to grasp that CSA images and videos involve the, usually ongoing, sexual abuse of an actual child.

But over here on the royal family board, this is barely a concern. It's barely mentioned in a thousand posts.

It's all about what MM should have done, didn't do, misremembered the dates of, had other motives for, etc etc etc. Funny kind of thing for a parenting forum. And if it is brushed upon, these allegations, which blind freddy could see have legs, it is briefly - as there are more important allegations, never referred to as such, involving MM's "worse" behaviour. It really is mind-blowing.

Clearly you haven’t read my posts on the matter and just want to argue.

I answered saying what I think I’d do. Because I’m not a patsy and will do what I like regardless of what anyone tells me to do and in those shoes I’d want to know.

But I’ve also said plenty of times that I do not judge Meghan for whatever it is she chose to do nor hold her responsible for her family’s behavior.

If you want to talk about what would be best for the victims then my course of action would make a hell of a lot more sense than what she has claimed to have done. So don’t criticise me for it.

You really are confused. First, you said:

Meghan seems to have received information only one other person had, and not bothered to pass it on to the authorities

I'm not going to go and source out other more official statements which make it clear what she was advised to do, after reading this letter alleging her father travelled to various countries to abuse children.

The letter was addressed to her and shown to her because the author who wrote it was concerned for MM's children, which MM then ensured never encountered this person. She was led to believe the matter was being investigated and the appropriate authorities in the countries concerned notified.

then make an announcement about it 8 years later

The trove of thousands of CSA material and images was only recently made public - and includes film negative evidence of Thomas Markle Sr having sex with a child - and is an entirely different though related matter.

Obviously, as it has been made public (though sections of the press were aware of the original letter and still cosied up to Markle to slam MM) she is able to comment.

Fine.

But it’s not what I’d do. I’d follow up.
