Here's a summary for you - it's full of British traditions like cracker pulling which she explains 🙄 , how to decorate a tree with lights and wearing matching pyjamas with her friends. Harry appears for the last 5 mins.

It certainly wasn't meant to sound personal. It's the bloody price of the earrings as opposed to who wore them.

I would have said something about the cost of a certain engagement dress or the 12/15m reportedly paid by QE on behalf of her son, the cost of various weddings.

I sound like a right kill joy but hopefully you catch my drift.

Right. So I think maybe it seemed like you were having a pop at Kate, which happens a lot on here (qv).
So, back to the original discussion....

MissFenellaPrism · 06/12/2025 18:40

I've just seen a funny picture from Megan's Holiday programme. The ovens are full of cardboard boxes. So they're used for storage, not cooking.
They're props.

It’s just her reflection. Not boxes. Why would you store a cardboard box in an oven?!

If you look back prior to my first post, people were discussing the carol service, it was that simple.

I wasn't being snide. I said the carol service seemed like a very positive thing. I wasn't being snide to Kate personally, it was the £12k earrings, something all the royals do, spend excessively. I gave as much back up as I could to why I feel what I do about the royals. If you want to accuse me of something, I am negative about the institution, not the players in it.

I’m going to repeat this again before moving on .
Catherine’s earrings were a gift from her family, they have been worn previously.
so unless the middletons are now royalty i don’t think this can be an example of all the royals spending excessively!
and despite this being pointed out a few times you have not acknowledged the fact that these earrings were in fact a gift and not bought by the royal family.

Acknowledged about the earrings.

However there are plenty more instances of excessive spending. My general opinion on the royals remains.

Anyway as an apology to @meghansturkeyfor engaging in the derailment, I present the turkey giff in your honour once again! ❤️

I have absolutely no idea. Ask Meghan.

My2cents1975 · 06/12/2025 19:21

The Holiday special is a dud. It is game over in the entertainment industry. There is a whole cohort of new talent and AI talent (doesn't age, doesn't say the wrong thing, doesn't need medical/retirement benefits).

You only get one chance to create a first impression and unfortunately for H&M they really bottled it!

Definitely not her reflection unless she's a box ! Also she seems to be standing on a box as her groin is higher than the controls.

I’ve just watched it. Quite boring. Highlight (or lowlight) was Harry’s hair! Wth was going on? Bits and patches all over the place. Just lose it, man!

I'm still starting and stopping it as I do my chores.

Her "friends" also seem like paid extras. And everything is coy "a ltitle birdy told me" "bubbles anyone?" "the eternal problem of how to wrap a bottle of wine" (as if wine bags aren't sold everywhere!)

That Motown/Home Alone style pop music isn't doing her any favours either.

It's just not quite right, is it?

So back to WLM - I still can't get over the generic decorations in toning colours ( with the exception of the little Guy ornament ) whilst talking about the tree being a reflection of your family. I haven't bought my tree yet but have got the box of ornaments out of my top cupboard. They include nice things I've bought over the years , rubbish things DCs have chosen over the years , inherited ones from DPILs , ones we have bought on holidays . Each year I buy one new one. I can honestly say when our tree goes up our family can point to pretty much every one and say - Oh that came from X etc. DS has bought a flat this year & it is my intent ( I am not sure he will have a tree this year - but for the future ) I will give him a starter box of family decorations. Now I am not a swivel eyed loon - I have asked him if he would like that )

Each to their own but the matchy matchy decorations are my cup of tea.. My SIL loves them and good for her. But unlike M she doesn't pretend they're a family story - she just chooses the colours she likes. Aces.

I almost feel a bit sorry for her, she came into the RF without Harry making protocol/history/traditions really clear to her and she floundered in an environment she had absolutely no control over

I don’t have any sympathy for her whatsoever, the RF offered Sophie to guide her plus Susan Hussey and the Queens Equerry Major Nana Kofi Twumasi-Ankrah, the latter Meghan was apparently “insulted” by according to Omid Scobie, fancy being insulted by being offered the help of a black man, one could even interpret that as Meghan being racist. She was offered more help than any other royal bride and she turned it all down apparently saying anything she needed to know she could ask Harry. Meghan isn’t some helpless child, most people with average intelligence would make it their priority to learn about the company or institution they were joining so either Meghan is of low intelligence or is completely up herself thinking she knows best, probably a combination of the two.

They should have had a 2 or 3 year long engagement so she got her feet wet before committing fully, and I equally blame the RF and Harry for that.

The RF had no choice, I’m sure that’s what they wanted but can you imagine how that would have been interpreted by Harry and Meghan? They would without doubt have taken that as Meghan being othered and the RF being racist, no other royal bride was expected to be engaged for 2 or 3 years. William did suggest Harry slow down and we all know how Harry reacted, he hit the roof with William, I don’t blame the RF at all, they were between a rock and a hard place, it’s them I feel sorry for.

Yes, her choice of rather twee 50s music is bizarre.

Her interactions with the 'friends', who are more likely acquaintances who share an agent, are so stilted and awkward. You said they seem like 'paid extras' and in a sense that's kind of what they are. They're probably there as as some sort of favour to their agency or other business contact. Some of them at any rate. Are we meant to be impressed because she has 'friends' who are minor celebrities? Like I say, the whole format is so dated and out of synch with the times.

Total pedantry but Kate Winslet had sausage and mash served at her first wedding which was to Jim Threapleton, not at her second which was to Sam Mendes. And it was more about it being 'rustic' and therefore chic, than about being working class - though of course it is, but that wasn't the point.

I'm sorry I got the husband wrong. Yes, it would be the chick thing to do at the time.

I have Tiffany solitaires that cost 18k 🤷‍♀️

Spot on, especially this: "who are more likely acquaintances who share an agent" and "minor celebrities."

Dated, out of touch, like a cheap Martha Stewart knockoff. Without Martha's expertise (can't stand her but at least she had decades of experience as an actual caterer, author, gracious-living advice giver, magazine publisher).

I sitll can't get over those long claws in that gloppy mess that frankly looked like the effect of a bad intestinal virus.

Oh well, I'd better get back to having a "joyful moment" wiping down the kitchen sides. After which I will make a "meaningful" drink and plate of Tesco's finest cheese.

Made up nonsense.

Yes, the ‘forever home’ is media nonsense, amplified now by social media. And there are more examples of it, too. Just like most of the absolute garbage written about Meghan.

Are we agreed?

Caiti19 · 07/12/2025 02:11

I just watched this tonight. As a standalone programme, leaving all baggage at the door, I found it rather delightful.

To be fair, he knocked Harry down. Hardly the way to set about coming to an effective solution.

I don’t feel sorry for any of them. Any regard I had for the RF evaporated on learning about Andrew’s activities and how they have attempted to pretend it wasn’t happening and only addressed it when it was made obvious that it story wasn’t going away and is likely going to get worse. And they put people, who wanted to bring it to the late Queen but were greeted with a ‘I don’t want to know’, in a shitty fucking position.
