Online, people are pointing out that a very expensive cashmere jumper that Meg wore on suits, also made its way to her wardrobe It’s been nothing but PR disasters of late. What I have noticed which is curious - is that the UK tabloids are not running with P6 story about the dress. Just like they avoided talking about the NY car chase. They only reported on the media frenzy. But, we know Harry sent out some sort of memo not to publish photos etc. None of the UK press did. Now Meg has acknowledged the stolen dress story and released an official refute ….and none of the UK press are even reporting on that? That’s weird. They will literally print any old Meg story to get clicks…..but not this one??? The articles on this issue are mainly American.

There have been multiple threads about the Duchies of Lancaster and Cornwall. Even I now have a fairly decent idea of how they work and I still can't understand how you time your prime minister elections.

Harry inherited tens of millions from Diana and the Queen Mother. Charles bankrolled him. He wasn't thrown out, penniless into the cold. Why can't he live within his income.

Btw, they don’t pay corporation tax on that money either despite them being fully commercial entities.

The Duchy of Lancaster is overseen by a member of the Cabinet, not the monarch, Cornwall is overseen and subject to stringent rules about what can and can't be done with profits (William can't move them into his personal funds). They are a kind of salary for their position in the monarchy, to receive it they have to be fully in the institution and carrying out their constitutional duties.

Edward and Sophie did try HIHO in the early days of their marriage and it proved impossible, that's why the late Queen refused Harry's plan.

And rather than being railroad out the Sandringham plan included a one year cooling off period during which they could have returned as working royals.

That’s a very good point about the cooling off period MrsLeonFarrell which admittedly I had forgotten about. I do think H&M would have been wise to have given their departure more strategic thought but equally I think Harry thought there would be more room for negotiation at the Sandringham Summit.

I thought that RF members did derive their stipends and some of their expenses from the profits?

It was reported last year that William received £6 million out of the £23 million that the Duchy of Cornwall made in the financial year 2023-2024, in which case my point still stands that that is not perceptibly different to HI and HO eg receiving monies from commercial enterprises while carrying out duties for the RF?

I think he likes to have a laugh. I don't think he understood that the joke was on him, but he liked the laughter and the applause.
