She's a beautiful woman but i can't understand why she just doesn't drop the titles and be herself. And it's odd how she talks about how much 'H' loves her but not how much she loves him.

Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, Meets Her Moment

After years of being subsumed by other people’s narratives, she's ready to author her own next chapter

I also think there's an issue of them piggy backing on the Cult of St Diana the Martyr.
That's something that both of them thought they could utilise, and monetise. Diana died 28 years ago, Charles and Camilla have been married for 20 years. Yet still, still on these threads we have the notion of an innocent Diana and the RF as cruel vultures.
Harry's wild claim on Oprah that he fled from the UK to "save" his family, and there was some weird stuff about repeating what happened to his mother.
That's all very strange stuff.

Yes it’s very strange stuff. I remember when he went on James Corden’s show and said something about having to get his family out of the UK because they weren’t safe. Of course JC just smiled and nodded and didn’t ask him to elaborate. I really couldn’t understand how he thought they would be safer in a foreign country with private security than living in the UK in a secure home with top level royal protection officers.
Personally, I think they wanted the half in, half out deal so they could continue being royals but on their own terms. They were planning on living in the UK half of the year, according to their grand announcement. When they were told no, they had to create a narrative about why they left.

FenellaFeldman · 22/11/2025 16:39

Harry has actually contacted Shabana Mahmood to ask her for a meeting about his security.
I think this sums up his problem. RAVEC, an independent body, made a decision about his security. He didn't like it, so he took the Home Office to court and lost.
He can't cope with that, and expects Ms Mahmood to prioritise what he wants over all the other work she has to do.
I find that absolutely extraordinary.
Also, very telling.

MaturingCheeseball · 22/11/2025 16:43

I think Harry honestly thought that his Freedom Flight was to be Canada permanently where he was going to live the woodsy life with a bit of fancy royal stuff on top. Maybe be the Governor with banquets etc for Meghan and he could keep up his military stuff. All in collaboration and linked not ranked with The Queen, of course.

I really don’t think he envisaged being stuck in fancy pants Montecito having to hobnob with nobodies and with nowt to occupy him.

No Canada was always a stop gap, he knew that and said so in interview. They were always going to thr usa.

Wow. The entitlement is strong in this one. Does he really think he and his Mrs are even on SM's radar?

It would appear so. RAVEC displeased him. The courts displeased him.
How very dare the Home Office not do as he wants? Why shouldn't the taxpayers of the UK give him limitless, high level protection on no notice and on his whim?
Why shouldn't the Home Secretary jump when he snaps his fingers?.

Well she seems to be pretty hot on immigration at the moment!
perhaps Harry should have emailed someone else 🤣

Quite! Also people who are basically trying to leech off the system....

I thought this came from "sources" again, @FenellaFeldman - do we know if it's been confirmed?

And even if so, apart from the toddler-like pestering what the hell's the point?
Surely she'll point out that his has already been thoroughly looked into and rejected, so what else is there?

I like to picture Anne's reaction to Meghan's statements. The two Christmases Meghan had with the royal family must have provided some memorable moments.

I've often wondered about the conversation when Anne Zara and Sophia get together! Anne has been seen on some public occasions talking pleasantly with MM but no doubt she'll be slagged off when MM needs a headline/

So much for the "I'm Meghan days". It's a wonder she doesn't go around with a team of heralds in full livery to announce her presence.

She has a modern equivalent, Netflix in full rig, cameras at attention.

AtIusvue · 22/11/2025 17:42

On the Godmothers website- you can buy the flower sprinkles. Two days ago there was 112 units. Today…110 units.

Must be a mad rush for Black Friday weekend!

Think it gives an indicator about how much stock she is able to shift. Which is clearly not enough.

Jan Moir for the DM also stated when she visited the store, lots of people were around the As ever products but nobody was buying.

FenellaFeldman · 22/11/2025 17:42

Harry originally intended to contact Yvette Cooper, and wanted Keir Starmer to "step in".

Puzzledandpissedoff · 22/11/2025 17:47

Yes, that's the news article I read myself, @FenellaFeldman, and it says "Harry wrote to Shabana Mahmood shortly after her appointment to the role and submitted a formal request for a risk assessment to the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec), overseen by the Home Office, a source close to the duke said"

Don't get me wrong, I could easily believe it, but I'm not aware he's said anything about this himself?

AtIusvue · 22/11/2025 17:49

I think Shabana has a tough workload to get through right now, as if Harry would even appear on her register.

Do you think he’s going through the stages of grief over his old life? He can’t seem to accept the royal trappings are over for good.

  • denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance

He’s definitely been through denial and anger about the loss of his princely privileges. I think he’s moved onto bargaining…..not releasing that he is in no position to bargain.

Right. Most probably never happened then.

If you think back through time, there are many pioneering women who have achieved so much good for innovation, science, business and so on. I wonder what Marie Curie would have thought of Meghan. Socially climbing with her goofy husband, her jam and petals or sprinkles for breakfast dressing while achieving very little in her life from a very advantageous financial position. A one trick pony who has sold the Royal secrets to death, and now faces flop after flop. It speaks volumes about the injustice of society that women like her get front-page covers while the many, many women who are doing so much good in the world at many levels, and in many sectors, are largely ignored by the press. Meghan is not 'beautiful' inside or out, but has many fashion, makeup and skin interventions not available to the average woman. Isn't it a pity that we still judge women for being pretty or not as we approach 2026, rather than what they have done or achieved? The tabloid papers are filled with X 'turned heads' or had 'good pins' or some female celebrity is caught out makeup free at Walmart and lambasted for 'gosh' shock horror looking like everyone else. If Meghan should make any contribution to the world, it should be as a timely reminder of what is really important and what is a worthy notable contribution to society...it isn't petals or over-priced jam for sure.

Pretty hypocritical of you to say it's a shame we judge women on the way they look when you've just proclaimed a woman to not be pretty on the inside or outside.

FenellaFeldman · 22/11/2025 17:55

It's funny because Harry and Meghan have a pet journo at the DM, Bryony Gordon, who was repeating the same claims.
Maybe she was misinformed. Perhaps Harry had been hit by a juggling ball and forgot what he meant to tell her.

I agree. He's so out of touch with reality.

The exiled 5th in line is not high on anyone's list of priorities. I think one of the things Harry has found most difficult to accept is that he's simply not that important. And while he'd always have maintained a high level of status and deference in Britain, in California he's just another minor celebrity growing less relevant by the month.

BigWillyLittleTodger · 22/11/2025 18:08

With labour’s popularity at the moment I don’t think the Home Secretary would be advised to make an appeal to the courts for a pampered, arrogant Prince who resides in America who parties with the Kardashians to get the British tax payer to pay for his 24 hour security, somehow I don’t think that would go down well with the electorate.

Not really. Her body language, including her facial expressions when things are not going her way, isn't beautiful by any definition I would recognise. There is an old idiom, 'Pretty is, as pretty does...' which is made for people just like her.
