She's a beautiful woman but i can't understand why she just doesn't drop the titles and be herself. And it's odd how she talks about how much 'H' loves her but not how much she loves him.

Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, Meets Her Moment

After years of being subsumed by other people’s narratives, she's ready to author her own next chapter

Nearly every article about female celebrities, particularly those who are actresses, calls them "whip smart" at some point. It's in the same vein as celebrities "flaunting" their pregnancies - usually by walking down the street and being papped by someone hidden behind a bin. Or, and this is my favourite, "oozing style" by wearing clothes.

All of it is meaningless in any real sense, it's just what journalists say, and they say it about everyone.

I'm not saying Meghan isn't smart, i have no idea, just that the magazine is following established norms by saying that about her.

ThePoshUns · 21/11/2025 16:23

Maybe HB are trolling her and set her up in photos that are shameless copies of other ( more successful) women, VB, Diana, who else?

To be fair to Meghan, her photoshoot will have been planned by Harpers Bazaar in advance, styled, and will have been directed by the photographer and/or an art director. Not Meghan herself!

Someone will doubtless have created a moodboard of what they wanted to achieve from the photoshoot as part of the planning process. Meghan could well have had input into that stage (but may not have - it depends).

That’s why I’m thinking have they set her up? She may not have realised that they have made her a copy of the original photos/ sitters. Who knows. The whole thing is bat shit crazy

Doesn’t North Western only take the top 10 per cent?

I don’t know, but ten percent of people graduating from High School in America each year is around 400,000 people. It’s an achievement, absolutely, but relative.

wordler · 21/11/2025 16:52

North Western is considered a very good school. It’s definitely an achievement to have got a place.

Although (same for William, Kate, Pippa, Louise etc) Meghan was applying from a good private school, and here in the USA like in the UK, the private schools have dedicated departments to getting their students into the best universities.

You don't have to go along with it surely? If it makes you look foolish or silly?

She's wasn't at NW as such. She was at the NW School of Communication I believe. Just a bit different.

They take hundreds of images across multiple outfit changes - you’d not really know until the results get edited.

Unless she’d arranged for some editorial veto - but I don’t think she has that kind of pull.

Oh I see, so it's pretty much decided for you.

That’s just an academic branch of Northwestern specializing in arts and communication. It’s definitely being at NW.

It’s not like saying you are studying at Oxford but really meaning Oxford Brookes.

AtIusvue · 21/11/2025 17:23

I wonder was it is…..it’s surely to be a let down. Honey ….with ginger?
Jam……with lavender?

and the expected clap back to “ announcement to an empty room “

NormaMajors1992coat · 21/11/2025 17:26

I’m surprised there hasn’t been a clap back about this interview yet - I’m sure we’re all dying to know whose fault it is that she comes across so badly again. When this happened in The Cut she tried to get the journalist fired iirc 🤔

What a life.

Setting up sycophantic puff pieces for yourself. And then frantically clapping back when it's obvious you have yet again made a tit of yourself.

No wonder her poor KP staff, even by Harry's admission, spent their time working for her bent over their desks in tears.

opencecilgee · 21/11/2025 17:31

She’s really quite dull. Totally dull interview. Dull article

she makes jam and attends fashion shows. Dull

jeffgoldblum · 21/11/2025 17:32

The etiquette expert named Myka Meier, who is originally from Florida but married a Swiss guy, and has USA/BRIT citizenship apparently is the person assuring American readers ( it wouldn’t work on us !) that using and announcing titles as you enter a (empty) room is perfectly normal!

Didn't someone say that the normal royal etiquette is for the visitor to be announced? Not the royal? That would seem to be the case from the limited times I've seen such interactions, as in 'Your Majesty, the Prime Minister'.

So apart from the fact that it's utterly pathetic and crass for her to insist on British peerage titles in New York, she's got the etiquette wrong yet again.

Mylovelygreendress · 21/11/2025 17:40

Wonder if the interviewer was expected to curtsy ?
