I agree. To be perfectly honest I dramatically toned down what I initially was going to post describing him in fear of being kicked off here or being locked in the tower for treason!

Jeez, if William had held on for a bit, he could have had Royal Lodge as the forever home.

Definitely wouldn't want to go into that home with all that bad juju. 🤨

How on earth do you equate the paedophile Andrew Mountbatten Windsor with the Duke of Sussex? I

A pedophile is somebody who has sex with pre pubescent children. Andrew is a fool but he isn’t guilty of that.

Is it nicer/better/bigger/ more private than the house he's moving into?

They could change their minds yet if it is.

He was 41, she was 17. Please stop apologising for abusive men.

I’m not apologising for him. His behaviour was immoral and he’s got what he deserves. He is a disgrace, but he is not a paedophile. I think the truth matters.

Will he be known as the 'Andrew formerly known as Prince'?

I think that came up on the R4 6:30 comedy this evening so yes

Rhaidimiddim · 31/10/2025 23:07

Theunamedcat · 31/10/2025 21:26

I dont think he was contrite in the slightest so they went scorched earth

I don't buy that. He was never contrite. His behaviour throughout has been consistent, and has never included 'contrite'. So I can't see the RF deciding now they require contrition when they haven't in the past.

upinaballoon · 31/10/2025 23:09

On TV this evening some have found it easier to call him 'the former Prince Andrew' than to wrap their tongues around 'Mr. Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor'.

Nayyercheekyfeckers · 31/10/2025 23:28

I can't help but chuckle at how he now shares the same surname as Harry and Megs. She'll be madly unpicking the embroidered monogrammed initials off her linen table napkins.
I now also refer to Andy as "the P formerly known as Prince".

Edited

But her surname's Sussex, don't you know!

FrancisQuoynt · 31/10/2025 23:56

He had the same underpants on when he was still a prince, and then took the same ones off when he wasn't a prince.

RainbowBagels · 01/11/2025 03:35

Senso · 30/10/2025 22:12

I am assuming it’s a warning shot to Harry. Charles had to set a precedent that the monarch is willing and prepared to strip titles if necessary.

Because they think moaning about your own family and being a bit of a twat is so much worse than associating with known sex offenders, lying on TV about it, using a police protection officer to dig up dirt on someone, using taxpayer funded trips to shag 40 prostitutes, associating with spies and doing shady property deals that look suspiciously like money laundering? Yeah they probably do.

Imaginethatifyoucan · 31/10/2025 18:44

He’s not a rapist though.

Are you trying to claim that VG was in any position to say no?

No, you're just splitting hairs.

medievalpenny · 31/10/2025 18:25

Because Andrew voluntarily choosing not to use titles he would still retain, whilst living rent-free in a royal mansion for the rest of his life, and failing to show any consideration for the victims of sexual abuse did not exactly quell the huge disquiet amongst the public. Andrew's statement about voluntarily giving up his titles was all about him and it made people even more angry.

That's why the latest statement specifically censures him and ends with a message about the victims and why the PM also reiterated that point.

It's almost as if they have no staff members or professional PR working for them.

Or maybe they let him have just enough rope to hang himself with - they calculated his own statement (perhaps scribbled with crayons) would be a steaming pile of self serving horse shite that would incense the public, meaning they could easily push him out.

NOTANUM · 01/11/2025 04:20

Reading between the lines in the Times, there seems to have been some concern about Andrew’s mental welfare at play in the phasing of the announcements. It was hoped that he’d disappear quietly, take a house and scarper. Instead the news articles and counter briefings about two houses continued. The concern on welfare matters though is real; his whole life has been about being a prince and he and Sarah are status driven in the extreme.

NOTANUM · 01/11/2025 04:25

I also find it extraordinary that Sarah F decides enough is enough now. Not Andrew inviting a paedophile into your daughter’s 18th party, or using the same person to bankroll your extravagant life,
No, she’s moving on now that there isn’t a fully paid mansion with security in a prime location. A small house in the depths of Norfolk doesn’t have the same cachet at all.

GeorgeMichaelsCat · 01/11/2025 04:33

What the fuck did he actually do to warrant this. More to come I expect.

I mean, she then took both girls to said paedophiles 'celebration' party so it is likely she couldnt care less. The important thing is that he was giving her money to spend like water. Anything else was irrelevant.

I already made that joke complete with picture.

I am just puzzled as to why, a week-or-so after A's statement about not using his titles, the RF go scorched earth on him.
It sounded then like they had negotiated a deal.whereby he would go quietly.
So what riled them up to the point that they went proper nuclear?

You're not alone in wondering, @Rhaidimiddim, but they're certainly not going to tell us so we can only wait for what else they fail to cover up comes out

Whatever it is there's a pretty high chance it'll be mishandled, and while I've no great faith in William it surely can't be any worse than this when his turn comes

I suspect it was a case of bluff and who blinks first. They have been talking for a while about Andy moving out of the lodge. Without doing royal duties he could not live in the royal lodge, he is not working for the priviledge. They brought in one of his daughters to try and negotiate. Andy refused to go quietly stating he had a watertight legal right to be there (probably why they offered to look after the 2 corgis).

So with I guess Camilla (who runs charities supporting women who have been sexually abused) and William who seems unimpressed with his uncles mid life crisis behaviour have drawn a line in the sand and he is no longer a prince.

Du you think someone who's trafficked is in any position to give consent?

Why not just call him the "ex prince"? There aren't any others to get confused by and a reminder may be helpful in future ...

I suspect you're right, lemonraspberry, but wouldn't assume too much from Camilla's "support for sexually abused women"

They all enjoy the PR opportunities which charities offer, but it doesn't necessarily follow that they give a stuff about those concerned
