Take the recent fashion show. There were plenty of A to Z-listers wandering around the fashion shows who understood transaction: eyeballs and positive attention to the brand in exchange for borrowed clothing (Z-listers) or driving sales of the various designers' fashions as the "face" of the brand (A-listers).
Instead of simply wearing the designer's clothing, smiling and being all sunshine and happiness, M issued an avalanche of PR, claiming a friendship with the designer, collaboration with the designer, and sharing unrelated videos driving through Paris driving the Diana link as ever. M ruthlessly extracted every ounce of PR from the fashion show and made Piccioli so upset he fired back...revealing that he did not even invite M...she asked to come.
I agree with the pp who said that M is transactional...but, IMHO, the issue is the zero-sum nature of M's transactional actions which results in pushback from some (F*ing grifters from Spotify) and ghosting by others (Obamas, Clooneys, Beckhams).
