Why is Meghan hated?

I have very strong views about the Royals especially Camilla, however I am genuinely interested and want to find out more as to why Meghan Markle seems to be so hated. I'm asking in case there is something I have missed. I do read up as much as I can and watch shows from 'both sides' of the argument, but there is nothing that I have seen so far that warrants the level of sheer hatred geared towards her - I don't mean on here necessarily, but on social media in general. She cannot do ANYTHING without a swarm of people descending on her like vampires to tear her apart.

She isn't an adulteress, she's not a paedophile or sex offender, she isn't lazy, she seems to genuinely care about people in need.....and from what has been shown, she genuinely loves Harry and is just trying to make a life with him. He left the UK to start a life away from a nest of some awful people, his mother died when he was 12, his uncle is a sex offender, there is racism and a rigid set of rules within that family where he won't be king anyway so what is wrong with him leaving?

I'm not starting this to start an argument I am genuninely interested in why she is so rabidly disliked and why? Maybe I will start to feel differently if there is more of a reason but at the moment I cannot see one?

Bit of a grifter I reckon. I don’t dislike that she & Harry parted company with the RF. As a brand (if that’s what they are) they’re a bit talentless and lack any real focus for anyone to get worked up about? Lovely pot of jam anyone? The Martha Stewart routine is a bit lost on me.

You might not like her but you aren't correct that Camilla has not 'done nothing for her entire life'.

She has raised two (successful and seemingly very happy children), is grandmother to five.

She's campaigned and raised money for the Osteoporosis Society for over 30 years and is president or patron of over 100 charities.

In particular she had done a huge amount to raise awareness and help survivors of sexual and domestic violence. She also has a long record of work in animal welfare, literacy and homelessness etc.

I don’t hate her at all, but I do think she’s very irritating. She treated us like we’re all idiots from the start. Right from the moment she said she hadn’t known who Harry was I thought she would be trouble. She was just clearly playing a role. I was in America for the wedding so watched it through America’s feet, they adored her, loved having an American royal. And she basked in all the attention and money lavished on her. Which is fine. But when things got hard she wanted out. But then continued to want more attention and money from warts and all tv programmes. Her and Harry just irritate me. He’s not the brightest spark and still hurts from what happened to his mother, so he laps it all up when Megan says she’s going through what his mother did. I’m not saying that there wasn’t a lot of racism and hate, but they could have stepped away and had the quiet life if they’d wanted. People would have forgotten them if they’d not kept poking the fire. I’d have admired her if she’d gone back to acting rather than the twee lifestyle programmes.

I think Meghan is treated like the DIL of Britain. Your son rejects the family, it must be her doing. Your son bad mouths his own people, must be her influence. Etc etc.

Wow...it's hardly work raising awareness of a charity for 30 years, she must be exhausted, and raising children is what the majority do. Excuse me while I throw up that she even have the nerve to talk about animal welfare when she's a fox hunter. Typical hypocrisy. I also assume the five don't include George Charlotte, Louis and Archie and Lilibet because they are not her grandchildren.

Absolutely right. I think not enough is made of how anti-American lots of Brits are - thinking that all Americans are crass and thick and generally below us. It's a version of snobbery

I can understand why people find Meghan superficial or fake or irritating or whatever, but she has done nothing whatsoever to deserve the level of pure unhinged hatred she has received. People who label her 'toxic' or 'narcissistic' need to give themselves a shake

I thinks it’s more helpful to start such specific threads in already themed categories because you have people more interested and so more ‘educated’ to do a deep dive into your Q whereas here they can get hijacked by people being daft and it’s not hitting the best MN demographic.

She has NEVER had a job. An actual job. Charity work is hardly working hard for a living. Anything the woman does comes off Charles' coattails. I'm not sure how you can defend an adulteress like her who is one manipulative bitch (again I've read enough about her to know). Saying she raises money for charity because her name might look good against something is NOT working for a living. She is well known for being extremely lazy.

But it's the same as people hating Meghan? And that's the point. It always seems it's ok to hate Meghan, but God forbid anyone hates the woman who has a crown on her head because she cheated her way to the top. I come across fine, but I'm sorry if my having a strong opinion makes you uncomfortable. I personally think it's ok to loathe a woman who wrecked another woman's life and is now living how she should have. Still waiting on the proof of what Meghan has done though.

I think because there’s something insincere about her - it’s like she wears a mask. There’s so many clips where the mask slips and her facial expressions change. Once you notice it, you can’t not notice it.
I think she generally lacks social etiquette (not sure if due to insecurity or trying to prove herself) and that seems to irk a lot of people.

I've been on a journey with this. I was indifferent when she first met Harry, I'm not that arsed about royalty so I didn't pay much attention. Then like many others, I accidentally watched their wedding and surprised myself by finding it beautiful, real and fresh. I remember how much love and goodwill was flowing that day, and how happy they both seemed.

Then a lot of shite went down and they both looked like petulant children.

For me, the biggest ick is that they named their baby girl Lillibet. I just found that nauseating, as while I know Harry had a good relationship with the late Queen, she was his grandmother and it was a nickname.

It feels wildly intrusive and inappropriate to me, and I'll bet lots of people close to him feel thd same way.

I think the Lillibet thing was very misjudged and may be a cultural difference between here and the US. If they had named her Elizabeth with a different nickname it would have been well received.

I generally stick up for Meghan and Harry but I did think that was deeply inappropriate. They could have called her Lizzie or Eliza or something, or Elizabeth as a middle name, but to use the Queen's very personal family nickname was v strange

This thread might not run to the full capacity. I might be wrong of course, and there’ll be enough anti posts to fill it, but it will be interesting either way to see if she can still muster up the ‘hate’. Tbh without it she didn’t get much viewership on her S2 (even less than S1) so she, ironically, kind of needs them.

I have to agree on Lilibet. There is one Lilibet and that was Queen Elizabeth.

Another thing I keep reading about is this thing about her not actually ever having been pregnant? Where did that come from?
