Meghan has just popped a video clip of herself in the back of a limo with her feet up travelling through the streets of Paris. Is this rather insensitive given the way her MIL died or is it perfectly normal to post such stuff?

Thank you for the well wishes. 🙏

I haven’t been able to try Meghan’s As Ever products so I can’t speak to the quality yet, but I like how they are presented. Obviously jam and honey aren’t luxury goods, but her products look to me like a luxury product at a middle class price.

Just buy some jam, they literally sell it in all supermarkets. Why spend all that money and pay to have it posted out to you.
I really don’t understand. As for pancake mix just why?

ThePoshUns · 30/10/2025 07:41

I’d rather buy a jar of bonne mamman.

Yes, I'd avoid these processed food mixes. Plus, pancakes are very easy to make. I don't get it.

Maybe this could be the official thread meme?

For all the newspaper snobs out there, even The Times has reported on the couple being booed at the game, along with commenting on their tenth publicist in five years quitting (speculating on whether they’ve joined the “Sussex Survivors Club”), the hypocrisy of sharing their children’s faces online, and the fact that Meghan has been voted the most disliked celebrity on LA based polling site Ranker (with 38,000 negative votes out of 48,000), with Harry coming in third.

It’s an interesting read.

“It seems that whatever love affair America once had with the couple is well and truly over”.

Edit: Sorry for quoting you @BigWillyLittleTodger i must have caught a button 😊

I think her 'brand' is a complete mess.

Random, basic supermarket products at an elevated price. Bottles of wine with little relevant information such as provenance. Again, something you could find in any supermarket for much less money and with no waiting time. Now we have basic looking candles in ugly packaging, with prices edging towards Jo Malone super luxe?

It's all a bit of a jumble. No coherent product range, price point or brand image. She seems to be making it up as she goes along. As I said in a previous post, the luxury market is in crisis in the current economy. If people are going to spend big money on a discretionary item, they want genuine luxury. If not, they want value and quality. 'As Ever' doesn't fall into either category.

CurlewKate · 30/10/2025 08:24

Wouldn’t it be entertaining if the conversation on here about Cire Trudon candles gives that company a brief sales spike courtesy of the Sussexes…..

I'm not a jam person but if I was, I'd rather buy from an established brand with a known reputation for quality, rather than pay above the odds to order from someone famous only for marrying a prince.

What is the selling point of Meghan's jams, or rather 'spreads'? Are they organic? Sourced from a particular location? Do we know anything about the fruits which went into them?

What distinguishes these products from any number of brands available in any supermarket for a fraction of the cost and no waiting time?

Mylovelygreendress · 30/10/2025 09:04

Highgrove jam is delicious

I’m assuming that it’s intended to be bought for presents? I don’t think I’d ever buy an “endorsed” product for myself and I don’t think I know anyone who would. Apart from anything else, I’m too much of a snob!

CurlewKate · 30/10/2025 09:12

I realise that I talked earlier about buying candles because Nigel Slater told me to! For clarity-I wouldn't buy them if they had his name on them or he claimed to have been involved in the production of them..

Foolsgold74 · 30/10/2025 09:34

If Megan wants a masterclass in creating a luxury brand, she should look at Jade Holland Coopers business. She started small but had cut throat ambition and a clear vision. She was already pretty privileged but married very well and strategically. She stayed in her lane but grew in a clever way. She's done candles and she's positioned them well within her clothing range. Her social media is pitched impeccably. It can veer into twee at times and she definitely designs with Princess Catherine in mind but she has created a mind blowing empire in the luxury equestrian/country living arena. Megan should study her in minute detail.

I’m assuming that it’s intended to be bought for presents?

But why?

Who's going to be thrilled to open their Christmas pressie and find a Meghan Markle branded jam?

Again, what is the selling point that sets her apart from the competition?

OrangeAxolotyl · 30/10/2025 09:40

I think that she's relying a bit on the "Duchess" title.
Maybe thinking about the Highgrove Duchy products? However, that's on a whole other level.

The 'Duchess' title doesn't really go with the Cali vibe though does it?

Which is what I mean by incoherent branding.

Some people like that sort of stuff? No idea! Why do people buy anything with a “celebrity” signature on it? I wonder if she thought the Britishness of jam and the Royal connection would appeal to a particular US demographic?

if I was her PR person I would have gone heavy on sustainability. Luxury you can feel good about. That sort of vibe. And with a Californian connection. Mango jam.

What 'sort of stuff' though? This is what I keep asking. What is the USP here?

And as I said above, any attempt at 'Britishness' is cancelled out by the simultaneous attempts at a laid back Cali vibe. The two do not mix.

As for 'celebrity' brands, curiosity might get some initial purchases. But if the product isn't any good, people won't buy again. Since Meghan's products seem to be generic white labelled items, her 'Duchess' title is going to have to do a lot of work, and I doubt people are as impressed by it as she herself is.

I think her ‘personal’ brand and her product brand are very tightly and authentically aligned as per your description.

I saw Paris Hilton branded baking stuff advertised on Instagram! As I said, I’m a crashing snob so would rather die than buy celebrity endorsed anything. But there is a huge market, or they wouldn’t do it. Actually, I would like to see how much Meghan makes out of this. It looks incredibly expansive to produce.

MrsLeonFarrell · 30/10/2025 11:28

I actually did buy some Stacey Solomon Christmas boys that i saw on her page a few years back. For something I'll use once a year they were really well priced.

I'm not paying dollars for runny spread or packet mixes. I can get those cheaper here.

BemusedAmerican · 30/10/2025 11:32

That's expensive honey and no one knows where it is produced. I can buy honey from Crete, which is delicious, and has known health benefits, for less money. My local farmers market has jam, wine, baked goods, etc. All locally produced by the people behind the table.

Yep. That’s why I said that if I was M’s PR person, I would go for a local, sustainable, California vibe. A hot sauce, a mango jam, some caramel or spiced nuts….Trying to compete with Highgrove jam is daft!

BasiliskStare · 30/10/2025 12:22

@CurlewKate I think Flamingo Estate has that cornered . I don't know if I am right here and happy to be proven wrong , but I think MM tried to get some partnership with them and they refused.

I love the idea of a hot sauce, or even a chili jam. She really should’ve leaned into that cool, laid back Cali vibe instead of the prim English afternoon-tea aesthetic she’s going for. Something more in the spirit of Pamela Anderson’s pickle collaboration with Flamingo Estate.

You should be her PR person, you’ve got good ideas 😋

Blimey! Well, at least that makes M’s stuff look reasonably priced!🤣

Bill Murray Well Its Groundhog Day Again GIF

As I have said before the issue is H&M.

From reports on both sides of the Atlantic, neither one takes direction or advice onboard. As a result, every project follows the same pattern a big splashy announcement with a complete absence of disciplined follow-through in marketing, logistics, etc.

It is always Groundhog Day with this pair.
