Meghan has just popped a video clip of herself in the back of a limo with her feet up travelling through the streets of Paris. Is this rather insensitive given the way her MIL died or is it perfectly normal to post such stuff?

I’ve never known any mother, who takes an active interest in fashion and ‘presentation’ (she even plates up takeaway ‘nicely’) to not care how their daughter presents.

I get not wanting to dress her like a doll and kids don’t always like getting their hair done. But it’s not about fashion- it’s about personal care and health (learning to dress appropriately for the weather)

I honestly cannot think of anyone who likes to care of themselves …to completely ignore their kids hair/outfits etc. It’s usually an over investment if anything. I’ve seen lots of the opposite too. In lots of working class areas in Scotland, mothers will go without, to pay a fortune in independent kids fashion stores to dress their kids in nice outfits. Sometimes getting themselves into debt.

But she struts around in Balenciaga, with her PA touching up her hair bun at the book event the other night- but her daughter has rat tails and tangles? I honestly don’t understand the dynamic of that relationship that would result in such a split.

Archie just so happens to be properly attired to this event as it’s now autumn, but he's also, come rain or shine, summer of winter…is the same outfit. At least his hair is also kept tidy. I’m guessing Harry has his barber do his hair too.

It doesn't make any sense. Maybe she wants a contract to advertise Hedrin.

There was a picture the other day of Zara Tindall and one of her daughters at the races. Zara was fairly gussied up (I think she promotes horsey clothing) and her daughter (who I think is about 11) was dressed in a fairly simple jumper and jeans. Not at all glamorous, but she did, however, look washed, brushed, tidy and totally appropriate.

Her daughter looks neglected and a bit feral. Poor kid.

Oh stop it. Her daughter looks exactly like lots of dc I see in warmer weather. In fact I find it very typical of middle class England to have girls in particular looking like they’ve been running wild through cornfields and hay. It seems that more upper middle class you are in England the more wild your dc look. It’s that whole Cornwall look

Funnily enough my first thought when I saw that was that he looks like Prince Andrew in face shape. I'm not suggesting Andrew is the father but I'm commenting on family resemblance.

That would have been a pretty bizarre thing to suggest, even on a H&M thread!

Mostly the children of dry-robe wearers with a collection of handknitted bobble hats, in my experience, rather than try-hard glamour-types.

It worked for Gwyneth and she’s thought of as being pretty awful by many people. I guess there are people who are happy to buy overpriced things

Gwyneth was a pioneer of this sort of thing, 15 odd years ago. The market is much more competitive now and the luxury industry is in crisis. Also, Gwyneth oozes 'elite'. Meghan does not. Those with money to spare on overpriced candles might part with their cash for whatever Goop is selling, but why would they do so for the Duchess of Pumpkin Patches?

Nothing too bizarre for here 😂

perhaps I’m biased… I have 1 dark haired child and one blonde, when they were little people praised my fair haired child all the time, the older (dark haired) one even noticed it. It was the same in my childhood between my sister and me. Its good for the Sussex children that they have the same hair colour, but it still implies some value judgement about something they have no control over.

We had an au pair whose mind was blown that out two blonde kids were very, very verging on naughty, whereas our dark haired boy was angelic. She just could not compute 😂

Her sparkling wine is over £60. She lives on another planet.

Do you have to order at least 3 bottles ?

But that’s not how Meghan dresses is it? Shes not all old rugby shirts with dog hair on them and muddy wellies is she? so she’s not going for an ‘upper middle class’ aesthetic. She wouldn’t know what that is.

She’s takes pride in her very polished Californian rich lady look, spends and fortune on clothes, hairdressers and make up artists. Yet that same commitment doesn’t translate to keeping her kids neat and tidy.

It’s a very strange relationship she has with her kids.

Nonsense. It isn't warmer weather is it if M and H are wearing coats and boots?

She always seems to have Lili dressed in pink which is so much against Meghan's claims of feminism. Pink pink girlie.

Poor Archie always in dark clothing regardless of the sunny Cali climate.

But they have Nannies . You would think they would ensure Lili’s hair is brushed .
Is it just me or is she wearing a nappy ?

I think the look is supposed to be casual, boho, not try hard new money, but it misses.

I do think she wants the kids to be old money/upper middle class haven’t tried kinda vibe. It’s also anti trad Royal children hairband stuffiness. It misfires.

So why were they dressed in winter clothes?

I suspect it was all filmed in Spring 24 when all of the other WLM content was filmed. Would explain Lili in a nappy and clothing not consistent with current end of October weather. Also Doria putting in an ‘appearance’ (not been seen for 18 months) - they filmed the WLM ‘series 2’ and the yet to be released ‘holiday’ seasonal specials back then - so would have made sense to film any promos then for consistency.

Kids wi ne kids, my nephews can look neat when dressed hair done and 10 mins later after a bit of rolling about messy again. One of them at 4yrs old loves shorts will wear them any weather to the despair of my sister sometimes 🙄 he is particular and also wants to alwsys copy his brother and wear same thing or colour.

Let kids be kids and enjoy their childhood because eim sure when they are older they can then choose to do all that mum does or not.

AtIusvue · 28/10/2025 17:58

I don’t get a vibe that meghan takes any interest in her kids clothes at all. I certainly don’t think she curated a collection of clothes designed to make the kids look like old money. Meg doesn’t understand what old money means. She certainly doesn’t dress like that herself, so wouldn’t make sense that that’s a ‘look’ shes set for the kids.

The kids look like they are dressed in clothes picked up in the supermarket. The clothes are all very similar- they each have a uniform: pink leggings and top for Lili; jeans, long top and jacket for Archie. Come rain or shine, whatever the weather, whatever the season.

Its the incongruous nature of the mother and daughter attire that sticks out like a sore thumb.
