Trump State Visit

A space for thoughts.

My first is that being at Windsor might make it easier to host a foreign leader. Which then begs the question as to whether in the modern age we really need Buckingham Palace. None of the royals like living there and I bet you'd make a fortune hiring it out for events and tourists.

Whilst i find Catherine's coat dresses a little boring it makes sense to have a sort of uniform.

My mistake.

My mistake also.

But given that’s at least two of us who’ve thought Smittens mum was dying perhaps Smitten can give thought to how her style of posting as well as their comes across in the first place.

I’ll have my Posts removed.

Why have the poster names been taken off the deleted posts? I’m sure we used to know which poster had their posts deleted before today’s revamp or am I imagining it??

Yes was thinking the same.

sminted · 19/09/2025 06:18

@Weepixie Not really, I think it's a lack of comprehension, which is also why you can't even get my user name right. Or it could be the fact you were up very late keyboard warrior'ing. Hopefully you eventually got some sleep, have you finished derailing now?

sminted · 19/09/2025 06:25

The tech deal is surely a good thing, we definitely need some investment & to try & get the economy moving.

NewAgeNewMe · 19/09/2025 06:49

Newscast podcast seemed to think the state visit went well, which is the object of the game. But Trump is a contrary character, to be it politely, so let’s see if he changes his mind once back.

I take that as a no then! 😆

sminted · 19/09/2025 06:58

And clearly you had no sleep 😆

sminted · 19/09/2025 06:59

And then we had the introduction of your aunt or great aunt to the story, we’ve even had a postcode for where she’s said to be.

Not one mention of an aunt or great aunt....

sminted · 19/09/2025 07:03

@Weepixie stop accusing me of things that are untrue & I never said. It's not normal to behave like you are.

That’s correct. You didn’t. You referred to an older relative, gave a postcode where you claim they are and invited another poster to go and see them/check them out in order to justify your posts.

sminted · 19/09/2025 07:07

@Weepixie did you miss the bit where that poster repeatedly demanded I post photos of them on a public forum?

sminted · 19/09/2025 07:11

@Weepixie & you think I was incorrect to say people will comment on people in the public eye positively & negatively. I think I am correct looking on forums and press. Acknowledging something happens isn't wrong simply because you don't like that it happens.

Why don't you agree to disagree & let it go?

Sminted, Im off to a birthday party with my some of my grandchildren, but even if I wasn’t you’d be getting no more attention from me today or any other day.

Your posts are there for everyone to see

Have a great day.

sminted · 19/09/2025 07:18

Run along now!

sminted · 19/09/2025 07:19

So are yours, didn't MNs Justine have a word for posters like you on Royal boards? She's not wrong!

jumpingthehighjump · 19/09/2025 07:35

This thread is ridiculous. A poster is allowed to say that Kate is thin. There is nothing wrong with that for goodness sake. Some posters seem to take literally any comment about Kate that isn't fawning over her as a personal slight. You don't know her, she doesn't know you, and saying she is thin is not an insult, and yes we know she has had cancer and is now in remission. Long may it continue.

Back to the thread... I am very very glad to see the back of Trump. He is back in his own country hooray. Let's hope he doesn't change his mind on anything he has promised, because he does so on a whim. Who'd have thought we have to placate, arse lick and stroke the ego of such a man.

sminted · 19/09/2025 07:53

@jumpingthehighjump thank you, I have never felt so gaslighted 😆

Who'd have thought we have to placate, arse lick and stroke the ego of such a man.

It's insane that he's the president isn't it. They are going to have to change how they portray presidents in the Hollywood action films, stoic & distinguished he is not 😆

birling16 · 19/09/2025 09:05

It's no the thin or the hair, it's the denial. Have The Firm learnt nothing?

padronpepper · 19/09/2025 09:07

Ultimately the Trump state visit was an enormous success, the RF are being applauded on the global stage for their diplomacy,

The visit was an absolute farce. Everyone, from Charles to Keir Starmer to Downing Street running scared of him and terrified of saying the wrong thing in case he had a tantrum.

He is so thin skinned it's unbelievable. Sadiq Khan was not praising him, so on AF1 on the way back where he seems to like standing outside the toilets and spouting off .... He was raging and saying Khan was actually the worst mayor IN THE WHOLE WORLD. he's a joke

padronpepper · 19/09/2025 09:38

Only one reporter had the gumption to ask him about Peter Mandelson and he denied knowing him - despite a cosy love-in in the Oval Office last May.

sminted · 19/09/2025 09:41

He's so petty!

padronpepper · 19/09/2025 09:41

This from The Guardian

In his efforts to placate the president however, Starmer entirely avoided talking about the bloodshed and starvation that Israel is causing in Gaza.
“Hamas … don’t want two-state solution,” the prime minister said. “They don’t want peace, they don’t want the ceasefire.” His comments earned a pat on the back from Trump.

Starmer is a coward.

I found something interesting and I'm surprised at this
Camilla is besties with Scott Bessent, Trump's Chief toady and secretary of the treasury. He's always the one stood next to Trump and bigging him up and laughing at his jokes
Camilla and him sat next to each other at the state banquet. The rest is not my words but copy and paste and very interesting how people move around in these circles

The US treasury secretary’s friendship with the king and, particularly, the queen goes back three decades and he is regarded as something of a trusted confidant. Scott Bessent first met Charles in 1990 at the Charleston mansion of the American’s cousin, Richard Jenrette, the chair of the Equitable Life Assurance Society, during a royal visit to South Carolina. He became a generous donor to Charles’s charity the Prince’s Foundation, now the King’s Foundation, and attended two of the prince’s 50th birthday parties in 1998, at Hampton Court Palace and Highgrove in Gloucestershire.

Significantly he helped Camilla build a public profile before her marriage to the king. He was photographed taking Camilla and her son to dinner at the Ivy in central London in late 1998 as part of choreography devised by the palace PR spin chief, Mark Bolland, to introduce her to the public. The following year she stayed at the home Bessent shared with his then partner
