My first is that being at Windsor might make it easier to host a foreign leader. Which then begs the question as to whether in the modern age we really need Buckingham Palace. None of the royals like living there and I bet you'd make a fortune hiring it out for events and tourists.

Whilst i find Catherine's coat dresses a little boring it makes sense to have a sort of uniform.

She always looks like she can't stand him which is what confuses me.

My god, that is despicable, she has had a serious illness, had major abdominal surgery, has had cancer and has finished months and months of chemotherapy.

Why is it despicable to have a view? Someone on here said she's not thin, she's athletic. I simply disagreed. Why on earth is that despicable? Am I not allowed to have an opinion? My opinion is that athletic = muscle tone, not skin and bone. What's your definition of athletic? Because KM sure as shit doesn't look athletic.

Yep...I'm beginning to realise that now. I take it all back..she's absolutely stunning, looks so radiant, and what a healthy looking, strong physique she has. Oh, and she categorically, most definitely does not have hair extensions. She's just very fortunate that her luscious locks grow 12 inches in 12 days. I honestly don't know how she has the time to maintain such a glamorous look, what with all her Royal duties which must be utterly exhausting. I salute her. Have I redeemed myself?

Are we allowed to post pictures of other royals and pick their face, their figure, their weight and their hair apart? Or is this criticism reserved for Catherine? If it was any other royal or celebrity there would be cries of how it’s not cricket to comment on a woman’s looks and weight let alone someone who has cancer, but Kate apparently is fair game even though she has had cancer and chemo, it’s pretty disgusting you feel it’s appropriate to post pictures criticising a cancer patient with regards weight, I think you need to have a word with yourself.

Posting photos of her younger self, pre serious illness, pre surgery, pre cancer and pre chemo as a comparison IS despicable and it’s not ‘just’ anything negative.

I can’t think of any of the other RF women who could be considered ‘skinny’ or even very slim.

I also think Kate suits her size. She has never looked skinny to me, just slim and toned and healthy.

Yes because criticism of Donald Trump’s looks is the same as criticising Catherine who has cancer and chemotherapy, and Trump has had nowhere the same level as criticism as Kate, show me another high profile female celebrity who receives so much criticism of her looks on mumsnet.

It's a real pity that the narrative around Trump's visit and his messages this afternoon has been completely derailed in this thread.

Kate M has a very high profile and unusually for female celebs it's almost solely focused on what she is wearing, her hair etc because she isn't promoting a song, film, etc so that's what the press focuses on.

People are going to have opinions and comment positively & negatively.

I don’t think negatively commenting on anyone’s body shape and looks on a public forum is a good thing to do. I think it says a lot about a person if they think that’s ok.

Given women have been judged on their looks since time immemorial I think it’s a particularly shit thing to do about a woman in the public eye on a predominantly woman based forum.

Debate royalty or the state visit or the flowers or the clothes or the choice of activities or the press by all means but the comments on this thread about the POW’s body make me feel genuinely sick. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Style and fashion of course, but her actual physical looks and her body not so much, it’s not tolerated on here for other women it shouldn’t be tolerated for Catherine either, just because you don’t like her.
