The royal family

Prince Harry has just donated 1.1 million out of his own money to children in need

This is bigger than any donation from William or Charles to charity.

Megan has consistently rolled her sleeves up, she's literally turned up with food to feed the homeless on Christmas day and to feed and try and empower those forced into sex work.

William is funded directly or indirectly by us tax payers

The UK would make more money from tourism without a royal family.

Why are there daily hate posts on Harry? He's not costing us anything.

You have no idea how much money, if any, Charles, William or Catherine donate to charity as like a lot of people, they may prefer to keep this private.

It’s interesting that we are now all fully aware of just how generous Harry is though.

Or was it from the Archewell fund? In which case H&M donate other peoples’ money under their own names

FitatFifty · 11/09/2025 15:09

I saw this on Twitter.

Prince William:
Donated
£4.37 million to @HomewardsUK
£2.2 million to the @Earlychildhood
£1.78 million to @united4wildlife
£1.5 million to Community Impact and Emergency Responders
16 London Borough Homes valued at > £5 million for young people.

Good for Harry!

And great that he returned to visit the grass roots charities in Nottingham!

If we have to have royalty; that’s what they should be doing imho!

Thankfully we have royalty who do rather more: the PPoW and their Royal Foundation, which consistently supports grass roots charities and community groups and projects.

Unfortunately with the current media hype we've heard very little this week about the local organisation Spiral Skills, which helps young people at risk of homelessness, or the Jac Lewis Foundation, providing mental health support and helping families affected by suicide; both community organisations, both funded by the Royal Foundation.

It used to be that royal visits to organisations like this would be covered in the mainstream media. Now, it's mostly whether Harry will get what he wants.

If Harry can afford to donate that much to charity, then he can afford his security bill.

chunkybear · 11/09/2025 15:38

@Mumtobabyhavoc - what?!

Good point! Although it’s not about the cost, it’s the prestige he really wants!

pottylolly · 11/09/2025 13:59

It’s great that he’s donated. No doubt we’ll soon hear of a huge donation from Will & copy- Kate soon.

@pottylolly I think that’s unlikely tbh. My feeling is that they’re not interested in playing tit for tat. William simply doesn’t want anything to do with Harry - he’s gone no contact as so many Mumsnetters are advised to do.

So that's significantly more than £12 million in donations, quietly slipped in the accounts for The Royal Foundation, rather than shouted from the rooftops for glory.

I cant find any evidence that MM consistently rolled up her sleeves to feed people on Christmas day, even before marriage. Can you link your source? And can you clarify what you mean by empowerment of sex workers? Are you referring to when she wrote patronising messages on bananas, like "you are special", that minimises the very complex realities of homelessness, addiction and sex work?

Or was it the payment from the BBC for the interview after he lost the latest law case? BBC paying in to their own charity on his behalf? Sadly, it's Harry's pattern of behaviour that has made me cynical!

With regard to William and Catherine - didn't they pay £12 million out in donations according to their Foundation's latest accounts? Of course, they don't shout about it, just quietly carry on.

No, the BBC would categorically not pay that much money to anyone for an interview, that’s a ridiculous suggestion.

stayathomer · 12/09/2025 07:38

A royal source told me: ‘Members of the Royal Family often make personal donations to charities, but when they do so, they do not boast about the amount given.’

None of them will ever get acceptance from everyone, people are horrendous about the whole lot of them (I’m from Ireland and don’t get the judginess), but hopefully more and more rich people try to be seen giving more money and will match that amount

If Harry can afford to donate that much to charity, then he can afford his security bill.

That was my first thought, what was with all the moaning about not being able to afford security if he can give away over £1m?

I don’t think charity donations are a competition?

I don’t think charity donations are a competition?

Apparently the OP thinks they are...

Antimimisti · 12/09/2025 07:42

Clearly this is a Good Thing, but we shouldn't be in awe of the amount - relative to his income and the money that has been spent on him from the public purse over his 40 years of life, this is the equivalent of the average person donating a tenner.

ThePoshUns · 12/09/2025 07:42

It isn’t a competition, but Harry has had to publicly announce his donation, whereas the other Royals quietly make their donations.

ILovedThe90s · 12/09/2025 07:45

Changingplace · 12/09/2025 07:39

I don’t think charity donations are a competition?

Its not. But the OP stated that PH has donated more than PW or KC, and fitatfifty was providing evidence to the contrary. To be honest, I think the OP is a troll just rage baiting, as there is no evidence behind anything they've stated.

pinklilys · 12/09/2025 07:58

CheeseCakeSunflowers · 11/09/2025 14:19

Many people donate to charity, most do not make an announcement about it. This reminds me of the story of The Widow's Mite.

This.

MTauditons · 12/09/2025 08:00

Why would we make more money from tourism without the royal family? That doesn’t make sense.

bapples1 · 12/09/2025 08:04

Remember OP, Harry is bad, no matter what. The others are good, no matter what.

Dorosomethingbeautiful · 12/09/2025 08:06

@Awobabobobget over yourself. So anyone that says any nice thing about Harry has to be Megan?

bapples1 · 12/09/2025 08:09

@Dorosomethingbeautiful Are you new to the deranged Royal boards 😆

Dorosomethingbeautiful · 12/09/2025 08:13

@bapples1this hatred of H & M has become an obsession with some people. I don’t understand how people can hate people they barely know so much, I just can’t wrap my head around it. It’s so bizarre

FitatFifty · 12/09/2025 08:17

Changingplace · 12/09/2025 07:39

I don’t think charity donations are a competition?

Neither do I. I’m just disproving something someone said.
