Is Kate Middleton wearing a blonde WIG?

Saw pictures today of Catherine, The Princess of Wales at the Natural History Museum.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-15064693/Princess-Wales-natural-history-museum-return-work-summer.html

I’m glad to see her back to work and looking happy. I’m also stunned by how different her hair looks. I always admired her amazing brown hair, so the blonde is quite the shock. Maybe it’s the wind and the rain creating the effect, but it almost looks like she is wearing a wig?

Just to clarify, I understand she went through cancer treatment and that can affect the hair in many ways. If she is wearing a wig, I really really don’t see a problem with it. If anything, it would be such a boon to cancer patients and people with alopecia etc who do wear wigs frequently. They could see that even wearing a wig you could look as fabulous as Kate.

Either way what is your verdict, wig or her own hair? Does the blonde suit her or do you prefer her as a brunette?

For the Vote:
You are being unreasonable, Kate's hair is all her own.
You are NOT being unreasonable, it's defiantly a wig.

Also as a side note I love her outfit.

Good Heir Day! Kate returns to duties with blonde post-holiday hair

The Princess of Wales joined her husband Prince William to visit the Natural History Museum in London today as they returned to duties after their summer break.

OK, Catherine Middleton if you insist. I have no idea what she prefers herself. Has she announced this somewhere? She must have preferred Kate at some point or are you saying the press decided on that specific abbreviation unilaterally?

She's always been known as Catherine, it's just the press who call her Kate. Probably easier to print.

Not every Catherine/Katherine/Katharine is a Kate.

cumbriaisbest · 05/09/2025 08:25

Anyway, why can't Kate be exhausted or Louis bored out of his skull or Charles bloody miserable?

Superhansrantowindsor · 05/09/2025 08:36

And this thread continues with the horrible nasty comments about a woman’s appearance. Post a picture of your face to be critiqued if you feel it’s acceptable to call her haggered, grey, old (heaven forbid a woman gets old) etc.

sundayfundayclub · 05/09/2025 08:41

Why can't she just be exhausted? Now that would be modeling something useful.

Are the Royals allowed to model useful things?! 😆

cumbriaisbest · 05/09/2025 08:46

@sundayfundayclub, no they are utterly utterly pointless. They could use their status for good. Doesn't have to be loud or ground breaking, could be quiet and with integrity.
I hate this battling cancer thing.
21st Century and this is the best we can come up with. Hair, weight, the rictus grin ,the inane comments.

You don’t even need to include ‘Middleton’—Catherine is quicker to type, and it’s obvious who you mean if you’re posting about the royals, especially when you’re posting on the royal board. She prefers to be known as Catherine; that’s how she introduces herself (as seen on CBeebies Bedtime, when meeting children, etc.), and she often signs off on social media with a ‘C.’ She may have gone by Kate when she was younger, or perhaps the media shortened her name for catchier headlines while she was dating William, and she didn’t really have the chance to set the record straight until after their marriage.

The point is she refers to herself as Catherine so it would be polite to refer to her as Catherine. Just like we respect Rachel Markle by calling her Meghan and refer to Prince Henry as Harry.

sundayfundayclub · 05/09/2025 08:58

@cumbriaisbest no one really cares. You call her what you like.

sundayfundayclub · 05/09/2025 08:21

Also Kate or KM are just quicker to type!

Exactly and I doubt she is scrolling through MN checking how people refer to her.

I don't care? i feel sad she's clearly unwell and I think it would have been brave to say so.

And those who care about titles are welcome to use them. If she doesn't officially have a new surname then I don't see how it is unreasonable to use the only surname she's ever had. It's easily understood who is being discussed.

I started a thread about this. I got so sick of people insisting it's "disrespectful" to call her Kate (William does, but I get that she probably doesn't allow others to) and also disrespectful to use the surname she was born with. Many many people in real life mistakenly refer to married women who've taken their husband's name on marriage by their birth surname because it's what they're used to. It might not be correct, but it's not disrespectful.

Serenster · 05/09/2025 09:40

Her hair wasn’t that thick when she was in her 20s. Hair normally gets thinner as you age, not double in volume.

Kate has always had thick and wavy hair. You can see it in candid photos from when she was at university, and then when she’s in environments where her natural hair texture comes out and she’s away from her usual glam squad - Iike in the photo when she and William stayed overnight on a small Pacific Island.

Whay she has done consistently since the early 2000s when she was in the public eye due to her relationship with William is styling her hair to manage its natural waves. I have very similar hair (I’m older than Kate and it’s still thick - but I have added blonde undertones to it to cover my greys better as she may also be doing) and have had Brazilian blow dries to achieve the same look she had in the past - but daily blow dries would also work if you had the means or that, as does!

She could have a wig or extensions now. Or it could be her natural hair back-combed at the crown to give it height, then heat-styled into long curls. I’m not a hair expert - and I don’t really care. It’s her hair, her choice what she does with it.

@Millytante my point is that it seems to be ok or acceptable to talk about certain groups of people whereas if you were to talk about black women's hair all hell would be let loose. In fact I recall a poster on here stating that white women should not be commenting on black women's hair in relation to Meghan. My point remains that it seems to be ok to talk about certain groups.

jamnpancakes · 05/09/2025 09:59

I think Catherine had a bit of an argument with some gusty wind yesterday. I'm not a fan of the colour myself. Also remember that when hair is lightened it immediately looks thicker due to the chemical processes involved.

sundayfundayclub · 05/09/2025 10:01

@jamnpancakes why are you shoehorning Megan into your posts? Does that mean you are the opposite of a Sussex supporters? What are they called?

sundayfundayclub · 05/09/2025 10:02

The colour is confusing me, it looks like an all over gloss or tint.

She has such gorgeous natural hair.

MaturingCheeseball · 05/09/2025 10:16

She has very nice hair - but the blonde tint doesn’t really suit her. Auburny would have been better.

upinaballoon · 05/09/2025 10:59

Not a wig, but maybe a bit helped.

Colour? - fine.

There is a time in a woman's life when her brown hair starts to go grey and the line between the two shows up more when you're brown rather than when you're blonde, so she might as well have a crack at blonde/fair.

Edit to add more but changed my mind!

It's not really like that, Meghan & Harry have always been called Meghan & Harry in the media whereas Catherine became known as Kate Middleton. I think people are a bit unsure what to call her as her current proper title is a bit of a mouthful and she is still called KM a lot in the media. Princess Catherine might work but I have no idea if that would be correct or acceptable.

In one single article on the BBC website yesterday she is called Kate, Catherine & The Princess of Wales interchangeably.

IllBeLookingAtTheMoon · 05/09/2025 11:23

I've got a feeling she'd be Princess William of Wales, as Diana was technically Princess Charles (ew).

Surely Kate Middleton is preferable to that

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 05/09/2025 11:32

Well it looks like a topper, and doesn’t really suit her, colour or styling, the overall look was aging /oddly cheap.

But it’s a sign how often she gets it right that this stands out.

CurlewKate · 05/09/2025 11:44

Why not call her the PoW? I don’t like when people call her Kate, because that does not appear to be what she calls herself.
As for the hair, I don’t think the colour suits her. Don’t care if it’s her own hair or a wig.

Tricky argument when it’s always meant as a deliberate insult to Camilla when she’s referred to as C ‘P-B’. The ‘never forgive’ diehards very much intend that as a barb.
But hey ho, this is straying far from the PoW’s locks, and we’re all getting into a rather ‘Celebitchy’-type thread.

I don't know what you're on about. I don't care about what to call her, I don't massively care about the RF. I'm ill so spending too much time here.
I think it would have been great if she had said she has been unwell and doesn't feel so good. The hair/wig thing isn't great imo.
Silly really. there are more pressing matters.
